Candi, forever is right. It was wonderful to see everyone! Far batter than I could have imagined. Thanks Committee.

I was only able to come Saturday evening but was truly impressed by all the planning and organization that went into making this a very memorable event. I was truly impressed by the size of the crowd. I was amazed at the greetings that I received and never expected. I really enjoyed talking about the old days with many of you.

There are many of us that are far removed from the Brazosport scene, but can keep up on this great website. Thanks Carol and Alice. I really look forward to seeing all the photos posted. I think a 45th is in order. I don't know if I can wait for another 10 years and I'm afraid many more of our precious friends will be gone.

Thanks to all again for such a wonderful time.

Winona Hebert (Spinks)

I echo the remarks of all the others. This reunion was truly WONDERFUL! I can hardly wait to see everyone's photos because I missed saying hello and catching up with so many I would have liked to.

Had a great time, but who invited all those old people?

Judy Burkes McGough (Pinkard)

It sounds like you all had a wonderful reunion.

I just wanted to say a word of caution on your "girls outing". We planned that for the class of '68 and had to quickly make it co-ed. The guys wanted to get together too...so we are planning a trip to San Antonio it March 2010.

Dee, wish you would post your sermon if you have a copy.

I'm happy for all of you that the hard work paid off with everyone showing up and enjoying the great fellowship. I wish I could have been there, but more than that, I wish Keith could have been.

WOW! What a fantastic wknd! I am writing for Jack (known to all as Jackie) as he avoids the computer, although I've never seen him on it as much as he has been visiting this reunion site! LOL! We want to thank everyone who played any part in getting this together and especially for this website which I think helped to make this such a great success! Staying in touch is wonderful and I thank you all for allowing me to experience this reunion as a wife. I was made to feel very welcomed by all, especially by Shelley Gray. It was fun to see all of the girls that Jack had crushes on and that I've heard about throughout our 36 years of marriage. Jack thoroughly enjoyed himself and we both look forward to the next one! We especially enjoyed the atmosphere of love, to hear that so many classmates are Christians, the Sunday morning service with Alice Day Smith sharing her passion for this class and her prayers. I for one am a recipient of answered prayer for the classmate of Jackie Sorrell as he is a great man of God! If anyone comes to the East TX area look us up! We're on Facebook under my name, Brenda Law Sorrell, & here is a link to some reunion pics.

Dee Allen

Just got home.

No Janice, everything hasn't been said. Nobody mentioned that the Gumbo Cookoff was rigged. I have to agree with everything that has been posted so far. I like the idea of the 60th birthday cruise. I had a great time. We need to do it again soon. Carol and Alice, see what y'all can do.

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Tana, I'm having severe withdrawal symptoms...and it's not pretty. Aren't we supposed to have "sponsors" to call?

09/08/09 01:58 PM #2147

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Does anyone know exactly how many classmates attended? Forgive me if that is posted somewhere. I wish I had a list of them all b/c there are many that I expected and wanted to see but didn't. However, I wasn't able to attend everything so maybe I just missed them.

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Hey, we ARE great and we ARE fine (and kind) and we ARE still the class of '69!!!

09/08/09 02:24 PM #2149

Judy Burkes McGough (Pinkard)

I can't imagine anyone in the fine class of '69 saying we (class of '68) were snobs...just doesn't seem to calculate..I hope none of you think that we are. What we have found out on our forum is that the biggest majority of our class was shy. Maybe because we were, someone thought we were snobbish? We are all Exporters, right?

09/08/09 02:42 PM #2150

Judy Burkes McGough (Pinkard)

I take it Dee lost the cookoff.

Withdrawal is right! A few can tell you that I was not overly excited at the prospect of driving 900 miles to sit at a table and watch people go by. But I was blown away by the friendliness of many I "knew of" but hardly knew.

After 16 years of doing ISS (in-school suspension) and seeing only the "behaviorly challenged", I guess I wasn't expecting a lot. It has warped my mind. Was I ever wrong about what to expect this past weekend. Words cannot express....

I didn't take my camera in so please post your photos.

Joy Garrett (Chessher)

Hi my great friends and fine class of 69!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha Marian...hey I am serious about the ranch...maybe some of the guys want to come too! We can have the annual Barneo Ranch Tick Stomp!!!!!! We used to have a tick stomp every year in Georgetown in the house that Randy and I built!!! Janie and Frank bought the house, and they are still stomping ticks, scorpions, and 100 legged centipedes!!! There are alot of critters out there!!!! The ranch cabin has 4 queen sized beds in a loft bedroom, and a queen sized downstairs bedroom, and two large couches. Also, people could bring tents, campers, etc...some could sleep on the hammock and porches under the stars! I have those critters under control outside...crystal Seven dust!!! You let me know girl...I am always ready to party!!!!! Yippppppppppeeeee!
The ranch is 2 1/2 hours from Austin, but a beautiful drive!!!! I talk so much the time flies by!!!! So you let me know...............!!! Bonfire, the famous RLC Barneo barbeque, romp on the ranch chasing the buckaroos, and maybe I can arrange for a hay ride!!!! I took my friend Jackie romping on the ranch, and almost threw her over the window shield...you might want someone else to drive, but we sure had fun!!!!! You sure feel so free when you are riding in the country!!!!

Hey Kathy....we do need to spend more time together!!! I just did not have enough time to sit down and talk to everyone, and be one on one! Kathy, Gerry Sue said there was seating Saturday night for 300 people, but there were people still standing!!!

Mike...only as old as you feel...I feel young!!!! I also don't think you look old...good skin care!!! Proud of you!!!!! Hahaha...someone said, "Joy, you still have your little girl voice!" Hey, it is a speech impediment people!!! Really, everyone calls my house asking for my Mommy!!!! I will always be a kid at heart...isn't if fun????!!!!!!!!

Hi Judy...no the class of 68 is great people too!!! My sissy, Janie Martin is in that class...maybe some or shy! Well, they will get over that with this class!!! LOL

Cynthia...so glad to hear from you!! Thank you...still have 40 more to lose too! I feel great, and this diet is causing me to build muscle!!! Hahaha...I was so strong from working out a few years ago when I opened doors they crashed into the wall! I don't want to be a body builder like Dee Allen...only want to be trim!!! See Dee on his profile!!! Hahahahaha...he even wears those spandex thinga maggigies!!!! LOL...hehehehehehehehe!!! Hi John...I would know you anywhere...and yes you are still handsome...who said that?

DEE....hmmmmmmmmmmm I sure thought you won the cook off at the reunion...was it fixed?!!!! hahahaha! Well, that is okay if you won...all your friends probably made it anyway!!! Remember you are never there? Oh....I do believe your granddaughter is a doll, so we are both winners of the contest!!! I don't want to hurt your feeling anymore since mine granddaughter won!!!!! Hahahahaha!!!! Oh....please, please, please post your sermon on the website! Many people were unable to come Sunday morning, and we want to hear it!!!! Okay??

News Flash....60th BIRTHDAY CRUISE!!!!!! Gerry Sue wrote me this morning, and thinks it is a great idea!!!! She said she would help anyway she can!!!! Nell requests that it be in the summer because she is off from teaching. I have had great response, and I think we should do it!!!! Actually....why not have a party every year!!!!! We could have a 1969 Exporter Prom, Cruises, Tick stomps for all those that want to hang out!!!!! Let's have our first Cruise next summer, and the Prom on our 60th birthday!!!!! Ya'll let me know your thoughts, and we can vote on what you would like to do!!!!! We might even want to include the class of 68...they are just shy!!!!! The way we will stay connected is to keep it goinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!! Alice prayed for us, and now let's do it!!!!!!!!!

May GOD bless each of you...giving you all the desires of your heart.
Love you bunches,
JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0)

Connie Marsh (Wood)

Such a great weekend with such great friends! The more I read, the more people I realize I did not get to see and would really have liked having time with.

Congratulations and a giant THANK YOU to the planning committee that worked so many hours making this reunion the great success that it was. We had a very special class.

I agree with Cyndie that closing with the Sunday morning service capped off the weekend perfectly. Dee, who would've thought that you would be delivering the message that morning 40 years ago? Who would have thought I would be in attendance, for that matter! LOL

Kathy, I had to laugh at your remark regarding needing a 12-step program because of withdrawal symptoms. I walked in the door and immediately signed in to our website and have checked it repeatedly all day today!

Love...the greatest of all gifts...flowed like a river over the weekend. It was in the atmosphere...it was tangible and it is real. There were many tender moments shared and forgotten memories rekindled. There were new friendships formed and connections to one another made that were not there before. This was indeed a priceless time together.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen.

I casually mentioned to Alice on Friday that I was leaving after the reunion to make a quick trip to Mexico to scout for a future missionary effort I will be a part of. Imagine my astonishment on Saturday night when she thrust into my hand a generous wad of bills given by some of you who wanted to contribute to the trip. I was stunned and speechless...imagine that...She would not say who contributed. Thank you from my heart and may the Lord multiply the riches of His Kingdom into your lives for you kindness.

I am now in Harlingen and will be going with a mission team into Mexico tomorrow to deliver food and other supplies to a missionary there. I spent last night as the lone visitor at their base here (Way of the Cross). They are home to 70 missionaries and their families who are currently on furlough. If you ever wanted to give toward missions...these guys are the real deal. Ben Butler, the founder and director, is the closest thing to the Apostle Paul you will meet on this side of Glory.

Do a google search on their ministry...I am humbled to be here. I have given half of the donated money to him and the other half will go to Pastor Abraham in Mexico tomorrow. Your offerings are furthering the Kingdom of God in righteous ministries. Thanks again for allowing me to be a courier of your generosity! Peace and God's grace to you all...If you ever have needs that I can pray for or need someone to talk to...931-242-5806...give me a call or shoot me an email at gvance1@gmail.com.

Forever yours...Gary

Early June would be nice for a cruise. We don't want to run into any hurricanes. Joy, I am up for a trip to your ranch. Sounds like so much fun!
And Dee your gumbo was delicious and what a presentation!

Joy Garrett (Chessher)

Gary...you are so sweet...so loving! I am sitting at my computer...supposed to be working on a project, but keep writing to everyone!!! Gary...may GOD be glorified in everything you are doing to help people. I have recently been asked to be in a prison Ministry near College Station called PEP. I met this awesome woman at a conference in LA called GOD CHICKS...she has an amazing ministry helping prisoners start a new life, and they are seeing that GOD loves them...not one of 4,500 graduates has returned to prison in five years! She was very successful on Wall Street, and has enlisted CEO'S from New York to help prisoners to start a business..so they will have a future.

Please keep in touch with me Gary, and let me know what prayers you need...maybe GOD will have this ministry planned for me too!!!

GOD Bless you and all you love.
Love,
JOY!!! :0)

Dee Ann....June sounds great to me, and you are right later means hurricanes!!!!

That sounds great! I am going to the ranch October 3rd with a group, and will be planning the next group...Marian had plans to come to Austin in October!!! Marian...let's plan it for when you come to Austin!!! I think Cyndie Krystal wanted to go too! My babies are huge...Tom, my oldest son was just there, and he said that
the bucks are huge, and I am especially excited about Barneo not breaking his horns when he ran into a tree!!!! Chasing the girls again..... Tom shot 4 rattle snakes when he was dove hunting there this weekend! One struck at his foot...but he never will again!!!! We just drive around so don't worry, and we have a shot gun to shoot snakes!!! LOL...don't be scared!!!! Also, a cold front came in, and it was 60 degrees at the ranch!!! Let me know when you want to go Dee Ann, and I will get it planned!!! I am going out there tomorrow with Janie and my nephew that is here from China!! Can you believe Brady writes and speaks fluent Chinese, and Spanish!!!

Sweet Precious Carrol I tried to email these to you so they could be used on the psychedelic spot but it was too much to send..Not the smartest when it comes to e-mails. But if you or anyone knows how to downsize 300 megs or more of photos I will do so...I think we have used up more pages in two days than we have at any other time The message forum is a buuzzzzzz Love all of ya'll and truely mean it.

Just got back to Austin and want to pile on the planning committee for such an excellent week-end of activities, and for all the rest of the Exporters for showing up.

Just so everyone knows who did the heavy lifting for the reunion, other than Boss Lady Carrol Renau Jeffers and Sic 'em Alice Lee Day Smith -

The key leaders were :

Alan Weddell – entire football event
Gerry Sue (Susie) Reichenbach Patton – money & ANYTHING else that needed doing which was a whole lot….
Jerri Mills – voice of sanity & reason PLUS she is running for judge next year
Lynn Rasberry Brooks –coordinated the date – got the tee shirt wagon started – engaged the band & rolled her eyes at Carrol often
Becky Cobb Rasmussen finished up the shirt project.
Maria Seidler Atkins – chased contact information for MONTHS, with great help from Jimmie Lee Dye & Winona Hebert Spinks.
Maria delivered a ton of supplies – way to go cuz !
Mary Jane Pratt Boomhower - financed & made decorations
Nancy Bryan Gilbert – all arrangements for the banquet, and what a feast.
Tommy Dye – impetus for the committee back in early 2008, he was right!
Tommy Palmer – golf plus MUCH more
BTW – the Tommys report these meetings were like watching THE VIEW with a very controversy subject
Tony Barnard – most calming (and NEEDED) influence on the committee, quietly contributed much information & useful suggestions,
And very importantly - ALL the beer keg information!
Cyndie Chrystal Williams and Alan Weddell – Friday Night Registration
Cyndie Strother Cunningham – Saturday Registration
Julie Davidson Sabrsula – Tee Shirts stuffer for the welcome packets.
Recently joined by:
Margaret Dubois Ammons
Cyndie Strother Cunningham
Janis Mangum Colwell
Marian Sahr Bullard
Steve Landers
and a few other contributors
Water – Tommy Dye and Wells Fargo
Alan Weddell & Michael Poehl – Keg of Dos Equis Beer
Susan Farmer Cade – Keg of Beer, Banner and Use of her office & State Farm Tent for Friday Night Registration
Winona Hebert Spinks has been a steady contributor in several areas. Via Long distance she helped enormously in locating classmates, she published old pictures on the website, developed and updated the page recognizing Exporters' military service.
Mike Strickland spent much time locating obituaries for the In Memory page.
Dickie Tracy developed the In Memory PowerPoint presentation
Dee Allen contributed much to the reunion even though he hasn't set foot in Brazoria county in the past year. He was on the website soliciting door prizes for the reunion, his first claim developed into the Gumbo/Chili/RoadKill Cook-off and when asked, he agreed to lead the worship service Sunday. And along with Mark Davis, Alice Lee Day Smith, and Gary Vance capped off the week-end with a moving service.
The cook-off judging must have been rigged as I saw Dee's apron, and that apron would have been enough to get me to vote for his gumbo !

Great job, THANKS for everyone's efforts at making this a wonderful memory for all of us who attended !!

Got a full release from my doctor today, so thanks to everyone who provided so much support during the scariest chapter in my life.

Michael, glad to hear your report! God is a great healer. Gary I am so proud of you. May God be with you and protect you while serving him. Joy, I will be coming to Austin Oct. 7th and will be in meetings from 8 to 5 on the 8th. The 9th meeting will be from 8 to noon. These meetings will be held at the Omni on or near Governor's Row. (If you know where that is) I know I talked to Colleen Shoemaker about my plans and I am hoping to see her while there. Maybe we can get together sometime during my stay. It doesn't matter to me when, let's just do it!!! I miss you all and can't wait to see you. Question...exactly when will we be celebrating our 60th? I know some of you youngsters just now turned 58 while alot of us are celebrating our 59th. OMG!!!! So, do we celebrate next year or the year after? Let me know so I can start buying my cruise clothes!!! I LOVE TO SHOP!!! I definitely want to do the ranch thing. I think that would be a blast!!!!!
