Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

Guys, I just have to say amen to all previous comments. I too, Kathy, need a 12 step program. I told my friends at school that it was more like a love fest than a reunion. I don't think I have ever in my life felt so much genuine love and well wishes from so many people! We are a unique group and I believe it is God Who is making the difference!

I was so sorry to miss the closing of the service Sunday and sounds like I missed a really great closing!!!

But love and best wishes to you all. I ran out of time and energy to talk to all I wanted to.

Thank you Nell for the heads-up about summer. We teachers have to stick together. I'm starting to save my quarters for the trip. I will see you soon.
Love to my sisters and brothers of BHS class of '69!

I just wanted to say this and I will hush and try to get busy with my homework.

As I was driving back from Atlanta Monday and thinking about the weekend, a thought came to me. No wonder God has to give us a glorified body when we get to heaven. If this weekend was a sample of greeting loved ones, our Saviour, and God Himself, our bodies couldn't take the love without literally exploding.

There were times this weekend I thought my heart was just going to jump out of my chest and do a little dance on the tables. So I am glad we will have a fortified body for that supernatural reunion in the sky!!!

Is this making sense to anyone? Well, in my little mind it does. love you sweeties!

As so many others have stated, it was exceptional!! I returned to Arizona late yesterday and was missing the event, stepping into 108 degree heat does that to you. Have to say it was all very well planned and went so well, it may be hard to exceed that expectation. Too many classmates that I did not have enough time to visit, hope to remedy that next time; whatever the occasion..
Janice, Ron should feel a part of the class b/c he is your MAN and that makes him part of us, too.
Major KUDOS to all of the committee; you folks really did a fantastic job!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so very much, we had a wonderful time....'69 Exporters rocked the house!
We had Fleming family gathering on Sunday and had to forego the Sunday meeting; sounds like we missed a great one. As Tiny Tim once said...God bless every one! Looking forward to all the pic's and video, too.

Boss Lady and Alice - I did not require an Award of Participation for the cook-off because my reward was just be able to be a part of the beautiful weekend and feel like a child again. I had so much fun. Thanks to anyone who had anything to do with the production of this last weekend and everyone for allowing me to smile, laugh, hug, dance, get my picture taken, and be child like again. It was magical, spritual, and exceptional, and I will never forget.

My award critique from Judge Huff says this: "What an excellent dish. I urge you to guard your excellent recipe from Dee Allen and other wannabes"
You see Dee, you have no one fooled!

I'm so sorry I missed Sunday morning, I hope it was taped!

June..sounds good for the cruise, and since some are turning 60 next summer then who votes to have the cruise next summer? I think we should go to Cozumel, Cayman Islands, or the Bahamas! The water is awesome in Cozumel, and the diving and snorkeling is amazing!!! My last trip I kayacked out into the middle of the ocean and went snorkeling! Wow, these crazy baby jelly fish filled up my bathing suit!!! They don't sting, but hope they will be gone in June!!!

Joy Garrett (Chessher)

I have had alot of emails for skin care instruction...so those not interested just pass this by!!!! My motivation in skin care is understanding people feel so much better about themselves when they feel they look good! This is something I have always been interested in, and let's face it glowing skin just makes you shine!!! I don't sell anything, and I work on people that need help, and feel bad about themselves. I believe we should all be happy with ourselves, and be the best we can be!!! GOD loves us so much, and so we need to love ourselves!!! I have recently worked with a woman that has lived a very sad life with drugs..and too many things to talk about. When she looked at her face after a facial tears rolled down her cheeks, and she didn't even recognize herself!!
Anyway, many of you have asked for my skin care program as follows: I am a skin care specialist, and have spent years studying... really since I was a child!! This program is for men too, and many people are on my program with excellent results!!

1. It is never to late to start...to reveal the baby skin I call it! Sun, smoking, alcohol dehydrates, poor nutrition, and lack of water causes damage to the skin. Sun, being the #1 reason for damage! Clean your cell phones with alcohol wipes, and your make up brushes washing with Dawn. Store brushes in covered container. Keep your hands off your face except when doing skin care. Stay out of the sun except for 10-15 minutes for Vitamin D, wear a hat, sunscreen 30% spf, and sunglasses!Drink at least 6-8 8oz. of water per day, and eat alot of green vegetables because they are the nutrition for the skin. For beginning the program I recommend a facial from a facialist doing a deep pore cleansing, and exfoliating, but if you cannot then do it at home using this program.

2. Cleansing- wash two times daily morning and night with two washings each time...yes two washings!!! Use a cleanser like Origins Checks and Balances, and Dermalogica Special Cleanser, Oil of Olay sensitive Cleanser. Cleansing the skin is critical to healthy skin. Do not use bar soap because it builds up in the hair follicles, and will dull the skin, and is very harsh. I highly recommend a held machine to cleanse with..ex: Neutrogena has the Duo, and then one for exfoliating. I have both, but the Duo can be used to cleanse with day or night. The Duo is $16.99 and the Neutrogena exfoliator is $39.99. You must never go to bed without doing your skin care because toxins build up in the skin blocking hair follicles or pores which cause break outs, and dull skin! Skin needs oxygen, and it cannot breathe without cleansing properly. When you cleanse every movement is upward when using hands, and with the machine circular. The neck and declote'(chest) is an extension of the face, and trust me it shows as much as your face!!! The massaging with these machines is excellent because it brings blood flow to the face, neck, and declote'. With blood flow brings nutrition from eating a healthy diet. Skin at our age turns over...meaning sloughs off dead skin replacing it with new skin every 45 days! You will see improvement in 45- 60 days if you follow my program. Also, only cleanse as I have instructed because more than two cleansings per day can remove the skin barrier losing your protection of the skin. Rinse with warm water...follow with cold. Do at least one hot towel steaming on your face 15 minutes each week...heat your towels in the microwave for about 1 minute or 2, and shake out towels to cool.

2. Exfoliating...depending if you have thin skin or thicker skin. Thick skin like mine can be exfoliated more often like twice a week, and thin skin once a week every two weeks. Now remember the machine exfoliator will do alot to smooth skin and remove dead skin, but I recommend an exfoliator with smaller cyrstals...Large crystals tend to tear the hair follicles making the pores larger. You must remove the dead skin, and many will have years of dead skin if not exfoliated regularly. Dermalogica, Oil of Olay have excellent exfoliators. The pads to the Duo machine have salicylic acid, and this helps to exfoliate, as does the other Neurtrogena machine. Also, problem areas are on the nose with comodones (black heads) Origins has a product for black heads, and so does Biore' at Walgreens...strips. The machines will help tremendously to remove impurities and comodones. Your face should feel like a babies bottom!!!

3. After cleansing use moisturizer day and night, including your eye cream. Use extra moisture in your problem areas around eyes, and wrinkles between eyes, and around the mouth. Some sunscreens act as a moisturizer so you may not need more unless you are dry. Don't think you have to spend alot of money on a moisturizer because there are many inexpensive moisturizers. Jojoba oil using a few drops is very close to the skins sebum. I use Dermalogica (Active Moist, and Smoothing Cream in the winter) and you can call the Dermal Institute in Dallas to see who sells it in your area I have used it for 11 years, but I have changed to Sonja Dekar, Origins. Cindy Crawfords Meaningful Beauty, and too many to mention, but always go back to Dermalogica. I find there is something good in many lines, and many are not costly. For men I recommend Dermalogica, Origins, and Kiels is great too! What works for you might not work for me! If you have dry skin you will want to use occlusive products which hold the moisture in. You can call me to consult on what you should buy! I don't believe in buying a bunch of products, but only products that work for you! Don't forget your sunscreen before you put on your makeup.

4. Massaging...critical to good skin because of blood flow. It build collagen which makes the skin firm, exercises muscles in face to firm or hold up your skin! You massage your skin everytime you wash or put on your moisture with only upward movement. The duo and exfoliator machine is excellent, and you can put moisturizer on your face and massage with the duo on high and low speed. Work on problem areas like around mouth where we develop lines around mouth and notice sagging, neck, and double chins. Remember push in and up with a little pressure. I use my hands and the duo. You are toning those muscles...much like working out and toning your body muscles. Oh, also are you starting to lose your lips? Exercise those also with your teeth going over and over them to bring blood flow in.

4. Makeup for ladies: I highly recommend La Bella Donna which is pure minerals, and is very good for the skin. It does not have talc in it. It has a 20spf, and you will not burn with it, and your sunscreen. You can find it at Lake Austin Spa in Austin, Tx. You can purchase it online at Labelladonna.com If you have a problem, my sister Janie has the website. You need a color chart, but I find that many colors work for several people. It is awesome, and I have been wearing it only for 11 years. I do not wear any makeup base, only this powder. When you follow this program you will find you need less makeup to cover your skin. Also, do not use pressed powder...it looks cakey, but the loose mineral powder looks natural and allows your skin to glow through. Now don't choke the mineral powder is $50.00, but trust me it covers and you will love it. You will need a very soft brush, and extra one when washing the other one. They also have mineral blush, and the creamy eye cover is excellent! I will consult with you one the color. I use Nicoletta and Umbria, and a bronzer called Urban Decay found at Sephoria. Also, one of my secrets learned from my gorgeous Mother is once you have applied your makeup, blush, bronzer then you will use about a dime size of moisturizer..rubbed on the inside of your hands..then pat it all over your face. My Mom used water, but your moisturizer makes your skin glow!

5. Mask- once a week. Dry skin- use fresh avacado, oily skin..mud mask, and there is an excellent Merlot peel mask at Walgreens! It is grape seed mask! Also, you know that oatmeal and egg heated in the microwave makes a great mask. Remove it with warm wash rag.
6. Also, there is something that I feel is very important...SUGAR and high carb diets are very bad for the skin. Sugar breaks down collagen causing sagging of the face. Low carb diet works the best for great skin. A skin vitamin is good if you aren't eating enough greens! Drink water, water, water!!!!

Oh...I want to share about my sister, Janie. She has been on my program for about 2 1/2 months, and she is looking great! You know she is when people are noticing!! Vicki Fleming is now on the program, and she looked better in the two days we were together!!! She also is now on the Adkins diet. The diet does clear up your skin!!!

I am here for you for any skin problems or consultation, and I am FREE!!!!!
Sorry guys if you are bored with this, but you want your ladies glowing!!! We can all GLOW FOR GOD!!!!! The FACE of JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0)

Love to you all....and call me if you need help on deciding what products to use...I have tried most of them! Well, how do you recommend unless you try it???!!!

PS Kitty...I am going to call you about the Noni facial line...love the natural, and I am going to try it on my girls coming to the ranch October 3rd!!!

Well, I am off to the ranch tomorrow...please pray Joy, Janie, and Brady don't see a rattle snake! Did you know I have never seen a snake out there in 8 years!!!! Thank you GOD...HE knows I don't like snakes or those little mousies!!!
Let me know how your program is going!!!!!!!
GOD bless you my sweet friends.
Love you,
JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0)

One more time, another incredible experience, the reunion was great, well planned. Thanks to everyone who helped out. I had a fantastic time. Enjoyed the golf, seeing all of you, visiting with some. Saturday night on the river was wonderful. I am sorry I did not do a better job of getting around to see more people. It might haved helped if we would have shown up for Friday night, poor planning on my part. And Sunday morning I had every intention of attending Dee's service, but missed it. We never left Brazoria, Buddy Baxter came by and was telling stories, he had us in stitches we laughed so hard and for so long. He was hilarious. Buddy have you ever considered doing standup?

Sunday driving to Dallas was tough, leaving so many good friends. And you don't know if you will see them again. We have an awesome class, so many intelligent, attractive, warm and friendly classmates that truly like one another. These reunion are never long enough, I would say that even if they lasted a week. It was so good to see everyone. I miss you and I love each and everyone of you.
Best,
Byron

Joy, thanks for your response. Jan is one of my favorite friends from high school...a sweetheart she is! I printed off your skin regimen...I didn't have time to read it. So happy that your class had such a great reunion. Your group sounds like us after our 40th...life just keeps getting sweeter with time.

Karen King (Perry)

I say ditto. I guess it has all been said. Thanks Joy for the beauty tips can't wait to start the program. I am working out and will loose 20 lb. by April for my daughter wedding and because I need to be healthier. (I have a bad back)So this is another way I can improve myself. Thanks again. Also, if DeeAnn goes to the ranch I want to go too when she goes so we all can visit.

I was sad when the reunion was over. I wish I could see more of you all. Judy, I hate that you live so far away. I might come see you sometime. Also, did I hear mention of a cruise. Let me know so I can start planning. That would be a blast. I could also get a condo at the beach for a week this summer for a girls week or long weekend. Thanks again to the committee for all your hard work!!

Patty Pasztor (Williams)

Every time I get on this website I'm captured for at least an hour. I can't get enough! and do wish I'd had more time to 'mingle' at the reunion. Joy, I just read your profile & looked at your pics. I worked for your Dad at the 'fountain' at Garrett's Drug Store. He was soooo handsome (still! is) and friendly!! I'm a layed off Dow contractor - last March. I'm looking for new adventures!! I'll go anywhere for a 1969 gathering!
Love Yall!
Patty

Marian Sahr (Bullard)

Joy, I already have people asking about our getaway. When are you wanting to have the ranch trip? I will be in Austin the 7th thru the 9th (can stay longer) but I think you are wanting the trip for the 3rd. If so, I can come up then, also. Let's do supper while I'm there for my meeting week. Let me know.

Any locals that want to go please email me and we can start on our arrangements. I have a suv that can seat 7 and should have plenty of room. I am not sure who all lives in Austin, but we want all of you to come. (Right, Joy) Pam, hope you can attend.

Linda Fluker (Carr)

Hey Gang,

Before too much more time passes, I want to thank whoever put the Biggest Looser gift together. Winning Biggest Looser was a hoot and in the TV weight loss show vane I receive as prophetic:-) But due to stagefright (who were all those people out there?), I didn't give adequate interaction to the gifts and y'all may not have gotten their full fun. So I will share them here. But first can any one tell me why they all seem to be what an OLD, perhaps retired person might need/want? (Never say O__ and some of us may never retire.) The gifts: a book "Tips for Good Living with Arthritis" (glucosamine/chondrotin anyone?), an "Over-the-Hill" decision making die (as in one of a pair of dice, having nothing to do with death hopefully. Altho, some of the choices might kill you - TV, Eat, Nap, Fish, Golf, and/or Shop - yea shopping!), a pedometer (what does it mean if the little numbers don't move? Probably that I'm not out shopping:-), and some wild flower seeds (love those).

Anyway, the bunco game was fun. Even tho I didn't win any games I love winning the gifts and being with each one. Here's a suggestion for our next gathering. Since there are soooo many to visit with, let's do a form of speed dating. You start out drawing a random # to indicate your starting table and everybody rotates from there telling surface stuff then moving on to deeper with those who seem interested. I'd love to know you all better.

Again thanks. It was fun. We must do it again soon.

Love to all.

Tana Shreves (Maddox)

Thank you to Eddie, Alice & Dickie for providing the "In Memory" slide show at the reunion & on this website. When the slide show was being presented at the reunion, you could hear a pin drop. Even looking at it now on the website, my heart breaks that so many of our classmates have passed away - some before their time. It is a reminder that life is short & we must embrace it & live it to the fullest day by day. My heart aches now to see the show but I am so grateful that we have this memory of them. Live each day to its fullest. Love all of you!!
