Jimmy Nelson

After graduation, I married Maggie Westbrook. I attended the University of Texas at Arlington until I was drafted into the U.S. Army. I was stationed in Fürth/Nuremberg Germany for two years. I was honorably discharged in 1972 and my family and I moved to Lewisville, Texas. I worked as an electrical lineman for 12 years at Texas New Mexico Power and Light. While attending Calvary Baptist Church, I made a mission trip to Old Mexico and later surrendered to full-time ministry. I later surrendered to serve as a missionary. Maggie and I attended Arlington Baptist College. In 1979, we moved to Mexico and were the first Missiology and language students in a Seminary there. After graduating, we moved to Cd. Jimenez, and later Cd. Obregon Sonora. We returned to the United States, and I became the pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church in Stephenville. Two years later, we returned to missionary work, and in 1996, we joined the Landmark Baptist Church, and I became the Director of Landmark Mission Projects. Then, in 2008, I was called to serve as the pastor of Landmark Baptist Church. In 2017, I started and became the President of Baptist International Accreditation Agency. In 2023, I became the Executive Director of Landmark Mission Projects.

I would like to make a trip to Israel to see the Holy Land.

I am beginning to feel my age.

While I was in the Army my family and I were stationed in Nuremberg Germany. We also visited Austria. However, my mission work has taken me to different countries around the world, including Brazil, China, Cuba, Costa Rico, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Peru, South Africa, and Thailand, with stops in the Netherlands, Canada, England, Japan, and Taiwan. Each one has a special significance and I have wonderful friends in each place.
