Comments:
Grinnell Company on East Morehead Street, beside the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, was my first job. I worked as an administrative assistant at several other companies before joining Matthews, McLean Advertising Agency. McLean being "Cloudy" McLean, the weatherman at WBTV Channel 3 for many years. I advanced from a one girl office to Vice-President of Administration. My sister Vivian joined us later, and we went on to become the largest ad agency in Charlotte at that time. We traveled to many places, in and out of the United States, producing trade shows, TV commercials, and films. I met my husband, Ben, at the Town & Country Drive-In on Wilkinson Boulevard. He graduated from South Mecklenburg and attended Wingate University. After the birth of our third child, I retired to work out of my home until our children were grown. I then joined my husband at our family business, Huntley Marine in Pineville, NC. I still work there with my husband and our two sons, and absolutely love it. Our older son lives on Lake Wylie, so we spend a lot of time on the water. He is married to Arinn, a graduate of UNCC with a degree in Nursing and now working at CMC-Main. She was also on the inaugural Cheer/Dance Squad for the Carolina Panthers Football Team, "The Topcats"; and, of course, we have been season ticketholders from inception.
Our youngest son is the drummer in a rock band called "Deadstar Blues". They have two CD's out and are working on a third. Brett presented us
with our first grandson, Liam Cash Huntley on September 22, 2010.
Our daughter graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, and married Randall Parsons, an All-American center on the football team. They live in Mooresville where he works in the Lowe's Corporate Office and she teaches middle-school Math at Pine Lake Prep Charter School. They have three daughters who
are involved in a number of sports.....basketball,
softball, cross country, track, gymnastics, etc.,
and as you can see, we spend a good part of our time attending sporting events.
We've lived in the Charlotte area our entire life, been married 43 years, same house for 40 years, same church for 40 years. As you can see, we're not really big on change.
In 2013, our oldest son and wife Arinn had their first child, a little boy
named Cole Benjamin. Arinn is now pregnant with their second child
due March 2, 2015, another little boy. Our younger son, Brett and
his wife Olivia are expecting a girl (Mila Rae) due on October 2, 2014.....
giving us seven grandchildren. After 40 years at the same church
in Mint Hill, we moved our membership to Providence Baptist on
Randolph Road in Charlotte. It just made sense since our old church
kept moving further and further away from town and PBC is just around
the corner from our house. Huntley Marine has opened a second location
on the water at Pier 49 Marina on Lake Wylie. If you need a boat of any
kind, come to see us! Ben and I are still working full time as well as
taking care of more grandbabies. Grandchild number eight was born
May 29, 2017, Piper Kate Huntley to our youngest son, Brett.
Our first great grandchildren were born June 28, 2019, to our oldest
granddaughter Katy. Twins, a boy named Charlie and a little girl
named Grace. We have a long history of twins in our family but these
were the first not of the same sex. Life is good!
