You are all so wonderful... I want to let you know that I've had someone else helping me get this re-union together.... Charles Robertson has been helping me with the plans too!! In fact, I mentioned "a reunion" to him- next thing I know, He's all jazzed up about seeing you guys again- and he's about to bust! I had to make a re-union happen or who knows what would have happend to him!! Seriously, I've got help from many people, but Charles is keeping my feet on the ground, and I'm keeping his head out of the clouds..... Leigh Anne (Gay) Schuler, Dawn Boldt & Mark Deorio are also going way out of their way to get us the best deal in town. I just want you to know that I really appreciate ALL of their efforts too. Ok, I guess it's my turn. WOW Eric Felland, you are in the know. Thanks for getting Tony Thomas on the site. I was wondering where he was. I am really enjoying reading about everyone. It is amazing how many of you are still in Richmond. I miss you all and I miss Richmond. It's interesting seeing how everyone is intertwined. Some relationships I had forgotten and others I never knew about. As for me, I haven't done such a good job keeping up with my classmates. About the only relationship I can report is that Beth George Mcnamee worked along side my father for many years. Does that get me any points? I will say this; I have something in Philly that none of you have...Mark DeOrio. We have been neighbors for 18 years and didn't know it until this website went up. I'll let you know (after we get together) whether that is a good thing or a bad thing. One thing I do know is that there will be no Utube video of me when the night is done.

I have enjoyed facebook. You guys made me feel really popular for about 24 hours. Thanks, that’s all I needed, I am easy to please. I enjoy the photos. I keep pulling up Donna Chenery’s page looking for the rest of her. Donna, where did you go? You look great! No matter where we are or what we look like, we will always be the Class of 1979.

And Ron Marker, we’re still waiting for an answer to Barry’s question.

No thanks are necessary. I feel priviledged to be able to participate in getting this reunion together. My head has always been in the clouds. I am still working on that. It may take therapy.

Great job on the site Karen and Barry. I can't believe it has been 30 years. That puts us around 48 years old- only two years away from AARP cards.
Okay, to answer the pressing question, I'm now regular and Ron is now commando (no watch). He and Lee Ann Toler don't have kids, so I guess they don't have to keep track of time.
It has been fun catching up with everyone on the facebook site. I hope the rest of you take the time to join. It only takes a few minutes.
I agree with Chris Beale, we need to do the reunion up right. We can't let the class of '78 show us up.

I would like to say a big Thank You to Selina Balarzs Heslep for bringing people to our site. Every effort helps in a big way and anybody can get involved. Thank you all for everything. Hang on Karen! I'm floating again!

Beth Hackman should put her yellow boots on ebay. The resulting bidding frenzy would probably even get the stock market heading back up.

Okay Ryne. I'm dying to read your story. You don't have to clean it up. We are all adults here and I think I won the most offensive superlative in 1979. Lay it on us brother. chas

I agree with Chas. Bring it on Ryne!!

OK. Since we are confessing our sins here, Tommy Daughtrey and I put styrofoam peanuts in Mamie Weaver's precious overhead projector. I can still see her waving her hand and blowing as the peanuts started giving off smoke as they melted. That was a chemistry experiment to remember. The statute of limitations is up now, right?

I am sure your husband knew full well what he was in for. VMI Keydets never could turn down a Mary Baldwin or a Mary Washington girl. :)

I am so glad I stumbled upon this site - it is great to read everyone's profile. I ran in to Wendy Burke - literally- on the streets of Philadelphia back in 1997. I have lost touch with everyone from Richmond after graduation- my family moved to Charlotte NC. I'm currently living in Long Beach, California and work for Northwest Airlines - soon to be DELTA. Life at Manchester was interesting - Sue Goldstein's class was always lively. I enjoyed sitting next to Karen Stanley and talking through class. We had a memorable trip to Washington DC (still do not know where the oil goes). Has any one heard from Julie Martin or Steve Quesenberry? ANyone remember our senior trip to Washington had a group of us taking a "different tour" of the city - remember Doc Jones? Thanks Karen!

Great site, and it has been (no word for it) catching up with folks on Facebook and our site. Heck yeah extend the reunion. I missed the 20 year and really missed seeing everyone. The 25 year football player reunion was great - but it left out way to many people. Kudos to the web site and everyone working together to make this happen.

Hi Eric - Aw c'mon! VMI guys can barely resist sheep much less gals from MWC or Baldwin gals (it's after 10 on a school night and forgive me for being crude)! Anyway, we met at Dewey Beach at a lovely establishment called - you guessed it - the Bottle and Cork or as the night gets late - the Cork and Screw! I was old - 27 and he thought he had met a rich girl from the good side of the Richmond tracks (think Libby and Grove) with a name like Muffin (think private girl's school) Poor guy - married a poor girl! And Sharon Robertson Williamson got to be there when I met the young gent! And now he's getting ready to take Will, our 17 year old, up the VMI for Junior night! Weird - time really does fly!!!! Hey Charles ??? - "went from" that would suggest a change...maybe "in addition to" would be a better fit (-:

Ruth Wood (Garner-Jarrell)

Hey Guys! I can't wait to see everyone-Somehow I got lost from the other reunions, but Kim Willard had to come back from California to find me. She went and saw my Dad at our same address we had lived all our lives at. I never left Chesterfield County. I live in Midlothian now and we might one day (depending on my husband's job)end up in WV back in the coal mines where he came from(can you believe I even went down in one,40 ft). It's so beautiful and peaceful up there.
Life has been sort of rough, but the good Lord has brought me through it all. I am on my 4th marriage to a wonderful guy,Ernie. My 3rd one was wonderful as well, but the Lord took him home at 44. We just never know what tomorrow brings and everyday should be cherished! I have MS and have had it for approx. 20 years before it was diagnosed. I'm still hanging, tough as nails, I guess!

Hey Karen and Chas and whoever wants to answer! Are we doing a class gift? And for that matter - where is Manchester HS? Isn't ours a middle school now? Just a thought!

Ruth Wood (Garner-Jarrell)

Muffin,
Manchester is down Hull Street headed towards Midlothian, take a left at the WaWa, Bailey Bridge and go to the right when it splits and keep going and you'll see it on the left. My step-daughter & husband, Shawna and Chip, graduated from there.

Hey Muffin. I have never helped organize a class reunion. I am not sure what you mean. What would be a class gift? If you have any ideas please feel free to suggest anything. We are also taking suggestions for activities. We have plenty time to make this a memorable event. We will have door prizes. We need to get them from somewhere. If anyone has something unique they would like to donate please bring it along.

Muffin Williamson (Wilson)

Thanks Ruthie for the directions to the NEW MHS!! And Chas, I can help with a class gift idea - I am happy to help with that from here! Whatever it is I think it would be nice to have the plaque mention it being a gift from our class, of course, and maybe a remembrance to our classmates who are no longer with us. Just a suggestion. Also, I would love to help you with activities and/or door prizes. My cell is 703-622-9412 in case you want to call. Thanks for all ya'll are doing!! Muffin

I took a trip out to the new Manchester. If you want to see the front of the school and the football stadium, you can check out my facebook page. I looked for the bell our class gave to the school, but couldn’t find it.

While you are at it, check out my video of the exploding banana. I’m still a pyro. I remember me and Jeff Hainsworth used to burn all kinds of stuff. Some things were burned for entertainment; some things were burned for medicinal purposes!

Eric,
I never knew you were a pyro!!! LOL
