I have been involved with most if not all of our reunions and it is you the classmates that make it happen

I went to work right out of high school for CPL in June 1959 and worked part time until I graduated. I started out Pre dental with Lou and others at Del Mar. I changed to Business and graduated from Tex A&I in 1964. Then I spent 6 months on active Army duty and returned to work with CPL. During my 41 year tenure I worked with many areas of the corporation including Accounting, Data Processing, Rates and Regulation, and some Engineering in various capacities as an accountant, analyst, manager, and consultant. One of my goals was to get people to use computers as a tool and not be afraid of them. I took early retirement in Oct of 2000.

School Story:

While at Ray, I was in the band and still keep up with many of the bandmembers. We even had a band reunion 2 years ago for previous members from 1957 to 1960. It was truly a success as people came from Ca, IL, Co, and all over TX to spend the day and evening with our band director Ray Chiorgno. We held the get together at one of our classmates home: Jean Flint-Cotten. Mr Chiorgno passed away earlier this year and I was honored to speak at his memorial service.

I am very saddened by Coke's passing. He was a wonderful man. I know he is with God. He was so good, that smile was always on his face. He will always be remembered by the people that met him. He was a friend from Sam Houston Elementry to Ray High School. Thanks to him and all that helped we have this website. He worked so very hard to keep us all together!! My prayers are with hls family. They have the memories of a very wonderful man.God Bless.

I first met Coke when we were in the Ray High School Band our sophomore year.  Coke was a talented musician, I was not.  I was in the band only because my mother was determined that I develop some culture and I'm living proof that a mother's determination is not always enough.  In spite of the differences in our musical talent Coke took me under his wing and acted as a mentor to me, a gesture I will always appreciate.

After high school graduation Coke and I went our separate ways and we only saw each other at the reunions. Then, in 2003 my wife and I began spending winters in Rockport.  While there I made the effort to reestablish some old Corpus connections, Coke being one of them.

Coke graciously included me in his periodic meetings with his lunch bunch.  So for 5 winters, until we moved back to the Houston area in 2008, I saw Coke on average of once a month and our frindship was renewed.  During that time I purchased a new computer and Coke generously gave of his time and talent to help me get the new computer up and running.  I think that sort of generosity is typical of the way Coke treated everyone.

I miss living in the Coastal Bend and I miss Coke.

Tomorrow Friday November 7, 2014 will be Dr. Lou A Carter's birthday. Lou is and has always been a greater supporter to all of the classmates who graduated from Ray in 1959 as well as graduates from other years.

I want to wish him a great 73rd birthday and good health and happiness for the future. He is and has always been a good person and I am proud to call him "my friend".

Happy Birthday Lou. Enjoy yourself wth friends and family,

Hi Coke, just wanted to tell you again how much I appreciate all the hard work and time consuming work you put on the reunion. You have certainly done more than your share and I agree with you, we should hire an event planner for any more reunions. Thanks again. Jeanne

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND TO DECIDE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TRYING TO HAVE A 55 YEAR REUNION. ALSO DECIDE IF YOU MIGHT WANT TO HELP IN SOME WAY. . THE INTEREST IS GROWING AND OCT 24 2014 WEEKEND IS THE TARGET. CLASSMATES HAVE BEEN CALLING TO DETERMINE INTEREST. WE WILL HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF SPACE BASED ON YOUR RESPONSES. I WILL EMAIL THOSE IN THE CLASS WITH VALID EMAIL ADDRESSES AND YOU CAN SPREAD THE WORD TO OTHER CLASSMATES IN OUR CLASS THAT YOU KNOW AND MAY NOT HAVE A PC.
