At the time of his death he was Grille Chef at the Fort St. Grille in Berkley, Calif, for seven years. He was a member of many organizations concerned with the environment. Skilled in the martial arts, he attained his Third Dan in Alkido Yoshinkal. Survivors include his son Alex of Amsterdam. The Netherlands, his mother Ruth of Yountville, Calif. brother Nelson of Sherman, Conn. a sister Donna Valdez of San Carlos, Calif. and one niece. Contributions to an environmental organization or charity of the donor's choice suggested. No services were held.

I wish he was still with us, but as we've all learned,
