Family/Travels/Events:
My husband had a small company, being self employed, we couldn't afford the time or the money to get away. Our home was and still is our vacation. We live on 2 acres on a lake, with 170 feet of lake frontage. We have had the same address and phone numbers for 40 years. Our children say our home is the only stable thing in their lives, since the have all moved several times.
In 1996 we tore down the old farm house and built a home comfortable enough to retire in.
We love our pontoon and enjoy swimming laps when weather permits. In 07, we were able to swim in the lake until Oct. 8. I don't think the ice will be off by that time this year. Burrrrrr!
We to a lot of entertaining, which we greatly enjoy. In the summer we have evening church services 3-6 times, with about 100 people attending.
We are very involved with our church. We both sing in the choir, and Rog in a Gospel group. We are very involved with the Jesus Walk, 4 evenings in Dec. (this was our 22 year) We are in charge of costumes. We host a couples Bible Study in our home, with 12 couples, for soup and salad. Rog is in a men's study that meets at 6 a.m. on Fridays, the ladies are A LOT SMARTER, we meet at 9:30.
The past 3 years we've enjoyed being part of the Hartland Senior Center, at the old Hartland High School. They have both a men's and ladies choral, under the direction of a retired Farmington teacher. I am way out of my comfort zone, but have learned so much. We have a lot of fun and even put on shows. The center must earn 1/3 of their own support, so in Oct. we put on 3 shows for over 2000 people. This year's it was a spoof on the 50's, SHABOOOOOOM, Those Wonderful Years. We also do performances for assisted living centers, and etc. There were skits, pop-ups, singing, and even tap dancers. I made 10 poodle skirts for the singers.
When we first retired we took a 6 week trip west, but most of our travel is visiting children or going to the family condo on Perdido Key, between Pensacola and Gulf Shores.
