LARRY E. TELFORD (8-18-41--10-27-14)

Larry left our company Monday morning, around 9:45am, surrounded by Diane, Bethanne, Lynne and Mandy, as well Laurel and Kyle,two of his grandchildren. Or, as one of us said amongst the tears (which resulted in some wet laughter), he died with 4 women in his bed. That morphed into the comment that he had his Larry's Angels (a play on Charlie's Angels which was always a favorite) and Diane said - I promise it was her - his mistress. 

We have found humor and hugs over the past two days incredibly soothing, in among the tears. We were blessed with time to reflect on his and our lives as a family, and since it is Larry, make sure that all the house systems have been documented. He died as he wanted, at home and in little pain (according to him every time we asked) and for that, we are grateful. He led the family in the end as he has all along. 

Services are still "under construction" so to speak and we will certainly put out notice when we determine where and when. Bethanne, Lynne and Mandy are still around, helping Diane with all that needs doing. Below, I am attaching a brief outline of his life which will appear in Burlington and Bedford papers. 

Larry E. Telford (8.18.41 – 10.27.14) framed his life around family – his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren- and leaves a legacy reflected in their lives. Larry pursued every task he undertook with dedication and passion. 

Larry graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1965. Serving in the Air Force brought him and his wife, Diane, of 52 years to Bedford, MA, their home for 39 years. Larry worked as an Electrical Engineer for the government, then moved on to Hewlett-Packard’s medical division for the rest of his career. 

Larry led by example, quietly inspiring those around him. He received a patent for his Engineering work, yet his professional success was shown not in promotions to management but rather in staying true to who he was and what he was good at – engineering better products. That was classic Larry - preferring to influence the limelight rather than step into it. 

Larry actively volunteered his time and energy. He could be found (often with his camera) chaperoning his daughters’ music events, pulling concession trailers, building pool paddling seats for Dragonheart Vermont, acting as a Budget Buddy in town and so much more. Larry committed to everything he did, as shown by his achieving a final mileage of 64,000 in his running log, re-building P-26 and T-6 airplanes with a group of volunteers, operating a Ham Radio, and cheering on his grandchildren’s sporting events. 

Always the quiet one, Larry slowly gathered people into his circle, earning their respect and friendship. His words and support were a gift given which can never be taken from all those who knew him. Larry is survived by Diane, his daughters and sons-in-law, Bethanne and Chris Hinkle of Sudbury, MA, Lynne and Scott Jaunich of Charlotte, VT, and Amanda Telford and Geoff Crosby of Portsmouth, NH, as well as his grandchildren, Trevor, Elise and Adele Hinkle, Christian, Kyle and Laurel Jaunich and Isabelle and Jake Telford, as well as his 5 grand-dogs.
