My best friend made me a 59and 1/2 birthday surprise birthday party this summer, and it was great. When I turned 60 last Sunday, my kids had a cake and gifts, and on Monday nite, my regular birthday group of friends and I went out together--nothing fancy, except for the beautiful gift. For those of you who are not 60 yet--let me tell you--it is NOT the new 50. 50 was a great year--it was fun and freeing, and learning and understanding. I find 60 to be a basic reality check. Not that there is no more fun and games, etc. but there is a new understanding of time and that funny Bucket List that others made seems to make a little more sense now. I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, but those AARP memberships that we threw away in the past might look good in another 5 years! The good news is--we're all doing this together, so Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!!!
