Glad you will be joining the party, Pnina.

Carrie has a good idea about a newsday ad to let others know. We will try some websites as well to get the word out.

Please - eveyone, reach out to your long lost pals so nobody gets left out because they did not get the news.

Thank you, Frank, for all the work you've done to organize our 50th Reunion.  My husband and I will be coming. We are so looking forward to it.

Hello everyone,

I am sorry to say that I will not be able to attend our reunion.  The logistics are just too difficult for me. I hope you all have a wonderful time.

Hi Arlene  Bruce Linker cannot join the reunion as he takes care of his ailing wife. We will be video recording as well as setting up a scipe or gmail hangout that perhaps you and Bruce and others can say hello to your friends there with. There may be others that want to connect in this fashion so we will do our best to make it happen. And if you reconsider, need a ride or whatever, let us know and we'll do what we can to help you, like the songs go, "make it to the party".

Thanks so much for your caring and concern, Frank and  Virginia.  I look forward to hearing details about a google hangout or a Skype opportunity.  Take care.

Claire Sylvan (Sylvan)

Hi classmates,

I'm trying to figure out if I can make it.  At first I was planning to be in Argentina on Oct. 20th (My husband's from Buenos Aires originally) but as it turned out I had to return for a work commitment in NYC on Oct 20th morning.  Anyone driving to Port Jefferson from Bklyn/Queens/Manhattan and returning that evening?  I hope I can come. I've been at almost all of them and would to be there for this one as well.

HI Claire

I am driving from Brooklyn Heights, but as of now I am staying over at the hotel. This may change, I will know in the next two weeks, as I may have to attend a conference in Watkins Glen. If I decide to attend, it is likely I will drive back that night.  The other variable is the start time of the event, which could also effect my decision to stay over.  I will post another response once the start time is posted.

I'm arranging a visit for us to Elmont HS that Saturday AM. They are having their Homecoming that day and some grads from a different year will be visiting as well. They would love to have us join them. Perhaps you could hitch a ride back to the reunion with us then Claire.

Thanks for arranging this Frank! This will be fun for those of us who are able to arrive in time for the tour. And thanks so much for ALL your work on the reunion.

Since the October 50th reuion is getting closer and closer, I had an idea to possibly get more people on board. Here is the question I hope people will respond to - "Who are some of the people you would most like to see at the reunion?" Maybe you know that the people on your list are coming and maybe you don't. But there seems to be a lot of people who read these posts but haven't committed yet. Maybe if they know others want to see them, then maybe some will say yes. Here's my list and in no particular order and not limited to these people:

Sabra Nalven/Barbara Gribin

Laurie Malcolm

George Cohan

John Interrante

Bob Walters

Kenny Rosen

Gary Lombardi

I hope you'll join in with your list. Let's see how many who are sitting on the fence we can push over!

I'd love to see Mark Lederway - he was teaching at Stony Brook after he left teaching us at Elmont.  Anyone in touch with hime?  And Hal Landy.    ~ Ilana

Eileen Rosenberg (Fingerhut)

does any one know how much the dinner will cost?

06/20/18 08:02 PM #1016

Stephen Migden

Ilana,

Mark Lederway got a PhD in psychology and was practicing for many years in Manhasset.  Our offices were in the same building, so I'd see him every once in awhile.  He was also the director of the psychology internship program at Stonybrook (I don't think at the medical school - at the college counselling center).  This was at least 15 years ago, probably even more than that.  Then I lost touch with him.

Steve

I’d like to see Mr. Herman. He was the orchestra teacher. We had lots of fun in that class. I’d also like to see Mr. Lederway.

I think we are losing the intent of my e-mail from a couple of days ago. While it would be nice to see some of our old teachers, most of them would be in their 80s or 90s or older at this point. There are so many of our classmates that are unaccounted for with the reunion that's not too many months away. I was hoping that if a # of us mentioned on this site wanting to see some of these folks at the reunion, then maybe some who read this web site might consider checking in and saying that they're coming. I'd love to see as many of you guys (and gals) as possible since I'm afraid this might be the last go around for us re: reunions.

Roy is correct, few if any teachers would still be with us, today anthen the issue is both their physical and or mental conditions. Unfortunately I always had to review life expectancy tables, when people hit 90, it declines quickly, let’s get as many people As possible.

It would be wonderful to find a teacher or two to join us. I just located and spoke with Don Lasko's brother-in-law, and unfortunately Don passed away last year. He was about 75 years old.

He was one of my favorites and spent most of his time teaching in New Jersey. We are glad to note that he wore that goatee most of his life, which I am sure was a good one. He was a great guy.

Roy, I am with you on this. If you could join the posse searching for people that haven't been located, I'll send you the info sheets that Steve and Pat and others worked with last reunion. The white pages lookup works sometimes also.

If we all pick 6 names from the yearbook, and enough of us give it a go,  we'll certainly find a few more, and at the very least, have some nice conversations.

I think that Bruce Glover said he wanted to participate. Anyone else?

06/21/18 09:55 PM #1022

Roy Rosenberg

Frank, count me in! Send the list to me at rosemtad@maine.rr.com and tell me if there are any particular classmates you want me to research and I'm more than happy to try to find a lot more than 6. I also challenge any others to get involved. If you have ever researched your family history on line, this is exacly the same thing except this is your EMHS family! If we want this to be a GREAT reunion, then we need YOU to get involved. That's right, YOU who is reading this right now! Frank, as soon as you get me the list is as soon as I'll start.
