I am sorry to say due to unforeseen circumstances I cannot attend this wonderful 50th class reunion that so many of you have worked so hard to put together.....Margaret (Brewer) Graham & I were going to travel & room together but now she too has canceled.  I did make reservations early on at the Danford on that Friday, the 19th & also Saturday the 20th so there'll will be an opening there once I notify them.

Hope you all have a great time, as I know you will....I certainly have felt the energy in everyone's response. Perhaps there will be a 60th....

Cheers,

Cathie H.

Beth, I have  Oracle newspapers but I will not be at this reunion.  When Bill Tep and I did the 30th reunion we made copies of the newspapers and had them for who ever wanted.

Hi Cathy, Martin and Jacob

Cathy, sorry to hear you and Margaret will not be at the reunion. I looked forward to seeing you both and wish you to stay healthy so we can see you at the next reunion.

Martin I am glad to hear you retired as I am working toward that, closing in fast, and Cathy wanted to ask us classmates about what we are doing now in our "golden years". We should certainly keep this conversation alive.

Martin, sorry to say that Danford's won't allow outside food to be consumed in the banquet hall. But if you want to share oreo cookies with us kids, I am sure we can do so on the patio or nearby.

Jacob, they can get us yoo-hoo's to sell at the cash bar or I could order some extra but they are $2.50 per yoo-hoo and not too many of us were too excited about it - comments about diabetes and didn't care for the stuff 50 years ago  but I thought it was a good idea.If anyone else does chime in on this.

Jacob, if you and others would like it included let me know and I will try and arrange it.

All

If anyone would like to pick up Cathy and Margaret's room for Friday and/or Saturday, let me know soon. When they cancel it otherwise gets lost as the place is sold out but if we arrange a transfer someone can use it. Ask around and let me know please.

Hi Cathie

Sorry for recreating your name. I don't always look before I leap.

I'l write it 5 times  as that blackboard corrective writing technique (would one of you teachers help me on the proper phrase I am looking for?)  will set it in my mind better

Cathie, Cathie, Cathie, Cathie, Cathie (sorry I don't have a blackboard)

See you in 2118 unless we have a 55th first

I did it again it is 2018 (hell,I've got 1968 on the brain) so it'll be 2028 (or 2023). Something to look forward to.

Marty - re: Bill Atwell - In tracking down potential classmates, I did find on whitepages.com a William Atwell age 68. There were listed 2 tele #s --- 207-967-4407 and 203-202-7440 (the area codes are correct as listed). Why don't you take the assignment of calling these #s to see if we have the right Bill. If so, I'll leave it up to you to talk to him about the reunion. Are you up for the assignment?                            Roy

Just had an idea. If you have any updated pix of classmates who can't make the reunion, why not bring a copy of the pix with you. Maybe we can post them somewhere. I have pix of George Cohan and John Interrante from my wedding in 2013 (where they served as co-Best Man). I xeroxed off a copy along with their HS senior pix. A sort of before and after. Unfortunately neither will be there but at least you can see how they "graciously" aged. Anyone like this idea?

I think it’s a great idea Roy! I can’t wait - 10 days and counting!

Roy, I love your idea! The people I am friends with from HS will be in attendance. Looking forward to the reunion.

I have been following the message board about the upcoming 50th with a great deal of regret that I will be unable to attend (I will be hunting vampires that night as Van Helsing in a production of DRACULA here in Memphis). I enjoyed seeing a lot of familiar faces at the 40th, and wish I could be with you all this time as well. Please post pictures!!! I'm attaching a photo from 2010 that I've been using for my publicity shot since then - subtract some hair and add some lines, and I look about the same now.

Here is a recent picture of me. Wish I could attend the upcoming Reunion. It has been fun seeing names from 50 years ago. I have been able to unite with some of you on Facebook. A fun FB group is about Elmont, another about Long Island. Bruce Glover is like a history book on Elmont. Can't get over that it has been 50 years since we graduated from EMHS. Loved Elmont, Dutch Broadway School and EMHS too. Made friends in school. To all, enjoy the Reunion.

If anyone needs a room at the Danford Inn for Friday 19th & Saturday 20th call now because I'm canceling my reservation today since I'm unable to attend.😢 Hope you all have a great time with many memories rekindled.

We are one week away from all getting together. I have attended every reunion but 50 years seems to bring the most excitement for me. I am going to miss seeing Mitch, Steve Esposito, Eddie Meyers, Cathy Ricco, Dale Baker. I have reached out to all of them and I am truly sorry they can’t make it. Well thank you Frank for giving it the old Spartan try. See you all next week.

I just booked Thurday night at Danfords for $135.   I am flying into JFK after midnight.  I don't lnow what I was thinking.  Finding transportation from JFK to Danfords at !:00AM has been crazy making-is anyone else arriving at JFK around midnight and want to adventure together?

I am looking forward to hearing about your lives and getting to know people from Elmont that I missed meeting way back when.  1968 to 2018-half a decade.  What will the next 50 years be like and what do I want?  I don't know, but would like help in thinking about it.  Anyone else????

Beth - if you can't find someone to do this with you, I'm sure you could get an Uber from the airport to the hotel.

Thank you for all of your suggestions which have me feeling taken care of and really wanted.  Wow!  I have a confirmed ride with 'Belah's Car Service' who is based in Islip.  I am excited about getting suggestions for my (our) next half decade.  Seriously, I appreciate and feel blessed to have grown up in Elmont with such awesome friends.  (This may be too gushy-but, I do live in Marin County in California which gives me license to feel the spirit and soul of Elmont.)

Love, Beth

It is with a heavy Heart to inform all of you that we have lost another class mate. Barbara Carlson Esposito has passed away.  I am told she gave a brave fight to beat brain cancer but she lost her fight in September. She will be missed by all that new her especially her husband Steve Esposito.

So sad that another classmate has passed. I have updated Barbara’s married name to Esposito and updated the In Memory Page.

Barbara and I were in our church children's chior together. Probably went back to pre-teen. I believe I had a photo somewhere.

We are now officially counting down in hours to our reunion. Something tells me that this is going to be one hell of a party!! Looking forward to seeing everyone who is attending.

Hello all, Taste of Port Jefferson is going on starting at 6PM, so suggest, if you are driving, get to Danford earlier to make sure that you have a parking place. See you all there.

Carrie Czajkowski (Hogan)

Thanks for the heads up about the taste of Port Jefferson. We are going to try to leave earlier to get there before the crowds! See you all tomottow!
