To Frank - You were a great team leader. So you get the "You Da Man" Award!!!

To Susan, Ellen & Loretta - It was also great working with you to make this such a wonderful & memorable event.

To all who attended - Thanks for bringing back so many great memories and it was wonderful to see and talk to each and every one of you!

To those who didn't make it - There's been some initial talk about regional reunions, possibly a 55th and of course a 60th! We will be in touch.

Most importantly, let's not lose track of each other. We became who we are in part because of our experiences togther. We will always be family!!!!!!

Ditto of thanks to all who made Sat. evening such a wonderful gathering. It was great seeing old friends and catching up on the paths our lives have taken. The spirit was high and and the memories heartwarming. I find it remarkable that we can pick up where we left off 10, 20, 30 or 50 years ago without missing a beat. I hope to stay in touch with some of you and look forward to seeing the rest of you in 5 or 10 years. Wishing everyone good health, happiness and enough memory so we can recognize each other the next time around!

And yes, please post the group photo and the email list when you can.

I am still smiling from our time together this weekend.  Yes, it was remarkable that we were able to pick up just where we left off all those years ago.  Thanks go to Frank for pulling this off and for my intrepid classmates that journeyed to Port Jefferson from points north, south and west.  It was just wonderful seeing all of you and hope we can gather sooner rather than in a decade.

Jeff (Ira) and I loved every minute of the reunion.  I'll add my thanks to Frank and others for making it possible.  Unfortunately, there was not as much time as I would have liked to spend catching up with folks so I'm already looking forward the next event.  I did not get to add my name to the email list so here it is for whomever has the list or for anyone who would like to keep in touch ( sjturshen@aol.com).  I am also on Facebook. Stay well class of 68 and hope to see you at the next reunion.

Adding my two cents—it was wonderful catching up with old friends at our 50th! What fun to share memories and to pick up where we left off. Thanks to Frank and everyone who participated in making the weekend so special.

At our reunion, Billy Salmonsohn told me a story that went all the way back to 8th grade that I had absolutely no recognition of. Without getting into the whole story, Billy and I were somewhere with another friend who moved out of Elmont after 8th grade when an incident broke out. Since this 3rd person was the tie breaker on whether or not the story actually happened, I knew I had to track him down. I did find and called a Marty Rabach who turned out to be the right Rabach. He was pleasantly shocked to hear from me after all these years and as soon as I started to tell the story, he finished it with the same details Billy told me about. So I guess it really did happen! Marty and I talked for the next 45 minutes as if we had last spoke maybe 6 months ago. All of this said, he wanted me to:

*say hello to Frank Gervasi who he remembered from kindergarden at Alden Terrace

*say hello to Beth Cooper who he remembered from the small get togethers at her house

*see if Claire Sylvan remembered when her mother drove up the driveway of Marty's anti-Semetic neighbor Mr. Capero; got out and flipped him the bird.

I think he mentioned 1 or 2 more people but my old mind can't recall right now. I guess the bottom line is that you can always find an old friend if you want to.

Hi Everyone-working to get all pictures to all the classmates in some sort of orderly fashion. I am working with Fred to get his pictures and hopefully they will be sent out on Sunday. My pictures will be sent out too. They will arrive in a format called Dropbox, which is a link to see all the pictures instead of posting a few at a time, this way you can save whatever pictures you want. Pictures that were posted on my facebook timeline were only a test so I could copy them and then compile them to get them off to you.  Otherwise I will have too many messages on my facebook that don't relate to me or my family.

Dropbox is a system to compile large files of photos and send them to everybody at the same time. If you would like me to do this to your pictures so I can get them to the class, please contact me privately at jdeutch06@gmail.com. The Dropbox link will also be posted on the message boards and you can also email me if you have any trouble opening them up and we can figure out another way to get them to you.

Please be patient as this is a big undertaking and I know we are all anxious to see the photos that Fred took, I know I am.

I want to tell everyone that it was a wonderful reunion, seeing so many excellent people from our past and hopefully that will be in our future.

Sincerely,

Joanne Dickstein Deutch

Dear Joanne-I am so lucky to have had you in my class-First the original Elmont website and now the offer of more connection.

Frank-a living treasure of friendship who brought us together at our 50th.  Frank's daughter compiled the incredible poster dedicated to the loving memory of those who passed in body-not in heart and soul and influence in our lives.  Thank you!

I left feeling full of love, kindness, appreciation, history, family, laughter and accomplishment.  I am deeply grateful to each of you. You were my springboard into my future.  OK, so next reunion 2013?  Boing, boing, boing......let's do this!

All- I want to say how much I appreciate everyone for your expressions and gifts of gratitude for the work that went into putting this reunion togther- it really is heartwarming. I also want to thank Roy, Loretta, Ellen, Joanne, Billy, Pat, Bruce Petryshin, and everyone else I talked to or worked with that had a part in making this a a good time for all. I also thank our lucky stars that we found a great location, great food and service from Danford's, and especially for all of us who came from far and wide to be there who really made it such a wonderful time. I enjoyed every minute of it and still do.

Christine- we could not go to Elmont on Friday due to new school security rules and there was just no time to try and get there on Saturday. We are working on a visit to the school for all who would like to at a future date.

Bruce Linker, Christine - sorry we could not get it together to Skype during the evening. It was a bit too much to try and make happen, but let us keep in touch and Bruce I hope your wife is doing well and I wish you both the best of health.

Martin, Patricia, Hal, Jim, and Jeanne- you'll be getting a package in the mail from me- some goodies you were unable to pick up last weekend. Hope we get to see you at the next one, and I hope we get to see eveyone else at our next reunion as well.  And anyone with any photos or video clips, of which I have some as well and will, please share.

And thanks to Donna Shaman who as an occupational therapist reinforced how important it is for our long term health to stay mobile and able to rotate our joints by dancing the twist - Come on Baby, let's do the Twist - every opportunity we get.

And one more thank you to Ginny and Nancy and the whole squad for cheering us all on in our continuing adventures as Elmont graduates- a big yeah for all of us!

Ilana Glassman

Greetings everyone!  I just wanted to add my thoughts about our reunion.  People have asked me in the past week what it was like for me, how I would characterize it, what was the nature of our memories...  I finally came to realize that what distinguished this gathering was the amount of love in the room.  Make that LOVE in the room.  All the differences that separated us 50 years ago were gone; we had one level field of being.  So much appreciation was shared, so much joy, memories both crazy and wonderful.  And the photos that were sent out today from Joanne and Roy reminded me of all this.

Especially on this day when we are mourning those who died in Pittsburgh, this is a day to celebrate the love that we found among us all last week.  And to remember that love, kindness, and compassion are free to give and receive, and separation from one another is a construct.

I am delighted and honored to be a member of Elmont's Class of '68!  I love you all.  Be well, healthy, happy until the next time.....

 heart ~ Ilana

Hi-

Hopefully everybody has been able to open dropbox pictures. If you having any problems, please contact me, or post here. There will be more pictures coming but it takes awhile to format them.  So far I have posted my pictures and Roy's pictures, also the wonderful class picture. If you want to print any of the pictures or put it in a photo book, CVS does a really nice job of printing a book and is very inexpensive. You can even add words to pages to make the book even cuter. Price for 1 to 2 books is usually on sale ($19.99ish)and you can send the pictures to them online and poof, by that afternoon, it will be ready.

Enjoy the photos and in a few days, I hope to get more out. Remember if you want to share your pictures, just contact me.

Sincerely,

Joanne Dickstein Deutch
