Hi All!        Frank, I would be very glad to help organize a birthday party for us. I am unable to ski this winter due to a recent hip replacement and, being in the Adirondacks, I need to keep myself busy in an alternative way.  I perfer spring or fall for the party and thought our reunion was wonderful.  I liked not having loud music so we could actually talk to classmates.  I would love to meet some of you for your "monthly meetings", but after our reunion and going to Montauk with my college suitemates, I am not eager to travel across the bridge to LI (no offense to those who are used to it).   I would be willing to take the train into NYC, though. So keep posting if anything transpires.

Tuesday is good for me to meet in Manhattan for lunch.

I will be visiting my sister on the east coast of Florida,Port Orange, November 10-15.

Danford's was great but could we try to have our 70th in Nassau County or western Suffolk?

I thought Danfords was a great venue and would love to have a party there again. I will be laying low this winter as well due to upcoming shoulder replacement. I guess we are at that age...

I liked having the reunion in the fall - travel is much easier than in the summer months where we will be fighting wedding bookings.

If you find an obituary for henry I would love to read it. The last I remember of him is this very brainy guy carryiing a slide rule everywhere.

Roy and I have been working on setting up a 70th birthday party for ourselves. There is currently some availability for space Early October at Danford's where we had our 50th reunion.

When we discussed this earlier we heard a lot of interest from our classmates. Our reunion committee is all for it. How many reading this would be interested in throwing ourselves a party this October?

Too Bad about Henry , I knew him kinda sorta , he was as I recall generally happy go lucky .

I would most definitely come to our 70th Birthday Party as it would be a good time for all .

Just to add a few things to what Frank wrote earlier re:

CLASS OF '68 70th BIRTHDAY PARTY

There were so many people at our 50th reunion who said they would definitely want to party again and didn't want to wait another 5-10 years. There were a number of those that I personally contacted who wanted to attend but had a conflict that weekend. So the committee decided that what the hell, with 6 months advance notice a number of classmate just might want to have a great party onemore  time BUT we need your input and thoughts now. We will do the work again if enough classmates are interested Are you? Please let us know your level of interest as soon as possible either with a post here or you can contact me directly at rosemtad@maine.rr.com. We are looking at Saturday October 4 on Long Island. Again, your response to your level of interest is important (whether you can make it or not) to our pre-planning. Thanks.

I had lost touch with Hank once his parents died and he moved upstate.

A year ago I got a call, out of the blue, from him that he would be on LI at a Memorial Service and could he stop by. We had a great visit! And of course we promised to keep in touch which we never did.

There was no obituary in Newsday since he lived upstate.

I heard through a friend that he had died.

I would be interested in going to a 70th birthday celebration.

Alas I think we need to see what happens with COVID-19 to come up with a date for the 70th birthday party celebration. Unfortunately, the US is one of the countries who will have a difficult time handling this disease due to inadequate testing capability, lack of universal health insurance, and not safety net for those who live from pay check to pay check.

In the parts of the world that have been agressive about screening and treating it is starting to look like it takes 3-4 months for the number of cases to start to decrease. We will see what happens here.

We are looking at summer at the earliest.

Date correction for CLASS OF '68 70th BIRTHDAY PARTY - I meant to say Saturday October 3, not the 4th in my last post.

Ilene - This announcement was meant for one thing only and that is to see if there is initial interest for the reunion committee to take time to put in the hours to make another great reunion happen. If few are interested, then this makes it a totally situation than if many are. We hope it's the later. But at this time, that's it - initial interest or not. Now for my opinion and it's just that, my opinion - this is not the editorial page of the newspaper. I find out about the happenings of this virus nearly every moment of every day now when I am in contact with the news media. I come to this page for info and updates on former classmates and surely not the world news and editorials about it's happenings. Again, just my opinion.

Roy and Frank ,

Thank you for undertaking the preliminary job of surveying the class about birthday participants . I believe this forum is not enough and we should contact every classmate we know be it social media or friends we have stayed in touch with thru the centuries , errr decades errr years . We need to spread the word . Time is passing .  Thank you both again  for your efforts .  Classmates , contact those persons you know , so Roy and Frank and whoever else is involved in planning will have an idea whether or not to go forward with the October Surprise .  Warmest Regards  , Bruce

Hello, everyone! I would love to attend a 70th Celebration and thank you for encouraging the possibility. Early October could work for Al and I. Somehow, today was the very first post I received notice of in my email. Could be "my bad", but please keep getting the word out ~ we are very happy about the idea, yet hadn't caught any prior message to know what was being chatted about. Be well!

Take care, all ~ Oh, no! Just realized a family wedding puts us in Maine the first weekend of October 2020. I will hold on in hopes that does not turn out to be the final date. We would love to attend the Reunion Birthday Bash! Best regards  ~

We very much enjoyed the last reunion and would make every effort to attend to 70th birthday. Thank's Roy and Frank for kicking this off.

Dear Classmates  - 70th Birthday Party Date change consideration

We were suggesting the first weekend in October because September is full of holidays and  we didn't want to get too late in the year, although a bit later could be fine weather-wise also. Our reunion happened Oct 20..

How would Saturday October 24 work for everybody?. I know a few of you who would  like to come on the 3rd are already elsewhere committed.

There are more meeting rooms available on the 24th at Danfords which would mean more parking as well. And maybe waiting a bit would help the pandemic get over with anyhow.

Danford's is not a done deal either. We all seemed to like having the reunion there. If someone has an alternate location we should consider please chime in.

   What do you all think?

Great I'll be there. Thanks for all your hard work to get this going. Can't wait to see you all again...

We are available any other October weekend (but the 3rd) and will make every effort to keep the rest of the month open and to be there. Hoping we all weather these serious "Virus" concerns and can see a better situation ahead. Take your best care, everyone!

All

Sorry about the slide rule-brainy guy memory I ascribed to Henry- he was a fun guy that I was with in Mr Koehler's German class and elsewhere, shop maybe. I confused him with Karl Wacker. In the yearbook Henry said he wanted to become a policeman. Does anyone know if that happened?

Mechanicsville NY has 4 funeral homes and a local newspaper but no obit for Henry. It would be nice to know what he did since we saw him last.

If more of you can make the Oct 24th date and that seems to work okay let's decide soon so we can lock it in. Talk to your friends and let's see how many we can get to come.

Cheers, Frank

SAD NEWS CLASSMATES...I received the following email from Bruce Linker: (from Ilene Bach Amar’s Facebook page)

“...I never thought I would be writing something like this........I am very saddened to write that my amazing sister Judith Iris Bach passed away yesterday. I, who could write pages and pages of stuff, have no words. This was not the virus, we probably will never have a medical explanation, but she just slumped over and was gone. Will be a couple of days longer than should be, but she will be buried next to my parents, and as thousands of others are planning, "at a later date" we will honor and remember her appropriately. She was the most amazing sister, daughter, cousin and mother........we will all miss her terribly. My heart is just breaking...”

So difficult each time another classmate passes away.

Stay well, my friends.
