To all,  I may not be able to attend the planning meeting tomorrow as I have an opportunity to hike 2 more high peaks with my son and his fiance.  I am so slow that my son says we may not be back in time.  He is my guide and has to go back to work soon so time is limited.  Conditions are optimal for the 15 miles tomorrow,  I would be glad to help if given a task.  Otherwise, all family related COVID tests were negative.  Whew!

Lucky you - have fun! If I had that opportunity I'd grab it too!

EMHS, we say a fond farewell to one of our talented 1968 classmates, David Stenger. David was a talented actor, director, producer, husband, father, grandfather.
We kept in touch through Facebook and I was very proud of his theatre endeavors. I'll try to find his obituary..

Raise a glass to a fine thespian !

I was so sad to hear about Dave... I remember him well in school. He was never without a smile! He was very polite and if I remember well he had a great sense of humor too! My heart goes out to Theresa his high school sweetheart... They say the good ones go first and he is definitely one of them! RIP Dave

Yesterday, just by accident, I happened to come across this article about one of our classmates, Jan Oxenberg, from the March 2018 edition of The New Yorker Magazine.

 https://www.newyorker.com/search/q/JAN%20OXENBERG

It's filled with praise about a movie that Jan had directed.  I didn't know that Jan was such a well-regarded film maker, and I didn't know that David Stenger, who recently died, was also involved in film.  Looks like we've had quite a lot of very talented people in our class.

Steve, As chair of Key Club's "College Nite" (Nov 1966) you helped classmates meet reps from many colleges and increase their chances for admission. You even taught us how to spell Quinnipiac (not yet famous for its political polls). Thanks for your efforts back then!

Let me second what Joe said, the Key club was a big help, neither of my parents went to college, we were also lucjky to have grown up when public education was suported substanially by government on all levels.

Thanks Marty and Joe.  Funny thing is that I don't remember having anything do with College Nite at EMHS.  It was a long time ago, and I'm sure I've forgotten, so I'll go with what you guys remember.   What I do think I remember is that there was a blackout during a College Nite.  I have no idea if it was during that one in 1966.

Steve, College Note was your brainchild. Key Club backed the project and it was a great success. The big East Coast blackout was the year before (Nov 1965). Dorothy Kilgallen from "What's My Line" had passed a few days before, so some folks thought that the lights were turned out as a tribute to her!

Exactly 1 week ago, Ilene posted to please hold Tu October 20 open on your calendar for a class reunion/70th birtday party. The committee has started working behind the scenes to make this as much fun as our in person 50th reunion was. BUT this does take a good amount of time and effort on our parts to plan and track down classmates. We have talked about an overall zoom party that could be broken down into smaller "rooms" such as where you went to elementary school, etc etc.BUT BUT we need to know your level of interest. I personally have been surprised to not see one person respond on our site about this event. If you are interested (or if you can't make it), please let us know. Thanks.
