Shorty's uncle is in Carriage Square where my mom is now. I sat and talked with him and Howard Evans for quite awhile one Saturday afternoon a few months ago.

The main thing I remember about Shorty: no matter where or when you saw him he was always smiling. Real quiet, but very happy

I knew Shorty well since my oldest sister Connie was at one time married to his brother. He was so easygoing and a really nice kid. I have thought about him often. I remember when the drowning happened and remember being so sad.

My father always said that when you die, if you've got five real friends,
then you've had a great life.
Remembering back to Shorty's last year of school with us,,,,, of the many mornings we sat outside of Mr. Reynolds class room on the west side steps that lead to the gym and talking about,,,,,,, well,,, what young boys talk about.

When he came to school with a cast on after he punched the cow and broke his hand.

Shorty,,, you had a really great life,,,,, but it was way to short my friend.
WE MISS YOU !!!!!

I remember when Shorty stuck up for Benny Schroder in Mrs. Rainey's third grade class. Benny was a Mormon and Mrs. Rainey was very religious. When Benny had to go stand in the hall while we did the pledge of allegience, Shorty went out and joined Benny so he wouldn't be alone. Shorty was just that kind of guy! I miss you "Leonard".

He was a good quiet kid who never caused any trouble, but his only vise was chewing. I remember Shorty chewing in the back row of class every day and never spitting. When the Teacher would ask him to come forward to check his mouth he would swallow it all. The Teacher knew he was chewing but never punish him. I think they always thought of him swallowing it as punishment enough. What a Man!
