The mission of Mark Twain Student Support Center is to provide excellence in alternative educational opportunities, vital to diverse learners requiring support in academic and social interactions.

 

We implement, with fidelity, a disciplined, safe, and supportive environment for students to develop the values of cooperation, responsibility, and respect for self and others.

 

We collaboratively link home, school, and community as equal stake holders in supporting our students as lifelong learners.

Elementary School PAL (Positive Alternative Learning)

Time: 8:00am-2:30pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

  • Friday dismissal at 11:30am

Location: MTSSC

Ideal Student Capacity: 8-10 students per class

Student Profile: Grade Levels K-6

Purpose of Program: Continue education through general studies for students that have been placed in alternative setting from their home school.

Additional Supports: Aggression Replacement Training, Morning Gathering, Thursday Behavior Intervention.

Teachers: Forbis K-3rd, Hogan 4th – 6th

Total Program Capacity: 20 students

Transportation: Will be provided

 

Elementary School PAL Suspension K-6 (Positive Alternative Learning)

Time: 8:00am-2:30pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

  • Friday dismissal at 11:30am

Ideal Student Capacity: 8-10 students per class

Student Profile: Grade Levels K-6

Purpose of Program: Continue education through general studies for students that have been removed from their home school.

Additional Supports: Aggression Replacement Training, Morning Gathering, Thursday Behavior Intervention

Middle School A.M. PAL 7 (Positive Alternative Learning-7th grade)

Time: 8:00am-11:30pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

Ideal Student Capacity: 8-10 students per class

Student Profile: Grade Level – 7th

Purpose of Program: Continue education through general studies for students that have been removed from their home school.

High School A.M. PAL 9th Grade Academy (Positive Alternative Learning)

Time: 8:00am-11:30am (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

Ideal Student Capacity: 8-10 students per class

Student Profile: Grade level - 9th

Purpose of Program: Continue education through general studies for students that have been removed from their home school. This program will assist students in pursuing necessary credits towards a high school diploma.

Additional Supports: Aggression Replacement Training, Morning Gathering, Thursday Behavior Intervention

Teachers: Christian, Jacobi, Ward

Total Program Capacity: 30 students

Transportation: Will be provided

 

High School P.M. PAL (Positive Alternative Learning)

Time: 11:30pm-2:30pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, No Friday Classes)

Location: MTSCC

Ideal Student Capacity: 8-10 students per class

Student Profile: Majority grade levels – 10th, 11th, 12th

Purpose of Program: Continue education through general studies for students that have been removed from their home school. This program will assist students in pursuing necessary credits towards a high school diploma.

Additional Supports: Aggression Replacement Training

High School Evening Edmentum – On Campus

Time: 2:30pm-5:30pm (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, No Friday Classes)

Location: MTSSC Pod A Lab/Pod B Lab

Ideal Student Capacity: 10-15 students per lab

Student Profile: Majority grade levels - 11th and 12th

Purpose of Program: Continue education through higher level on-line coursework for students to pursue a high school diploma.

Teacher: Jacobi

Total Program Capacity: 15 students

Transportation: Will be provided

 

High School Edmentum – Off Campus

Time: Teacher/Parent/Student discretion

Location: Parent/Student discretion (off campus)

Ideal Student Capacity: TBD

Student Profile: Students that have not experienced success at home school, MTSSC, or have other extenuating circumstances.

Purpose of Program: Continue education through on-line coursework necessary for students to pursue a high school diploma. Teachers will introduce students to Edmentum and mentor through its entirety.

Purpose of Program: Continue education through a placement into PAL 2 after other programs have not been successful. This individualized program will assist students in pursuing necessary credits towards a high school diploma.

Missouri Options AM

Time: 8:00am-11:30am (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, No Friday Classes)

Purpose of Program: Designed to replace the GED, this state approved program is a combination of academics and work/community service projects. Upon completion, students will receive a high school diploma.
