Jeff
your question will take some soul-searching on my part. my high school years were very painful and I just don't know if i can open up that wound...HA!!!
One thing that is still relevant to me today is that a 2 liter bottle of Tropical Wine cooler is an excellent Ice-Breaker/conversation-starter.

A serious answer is forth-coming...

my favorite lunch had to be Shrimp Shapes. What were they actually made of?

Jeffrey Allers

"Mexican straw hat"--hands down.

Although after seeing an ice-cream scooper used with ground beef, I could never bring myself to go to Baskin Robins again!

Michael Hasty

"Shrimp Shapes" were actually made of beef.

My favorite had to be chili and cinnamon rolls.

Dan Ervin

beef? really.

what is the proper dress attire for saturday evening?

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

New Scores:
Dan - 16.5
Michael - 15
Jeff A. - 13.5
Carolyn - 4.5 (or 7.5 unofficially?)
Karry - 4
Bill H. - 3
Jill - 2
Angela - 1
Kurt - 1
Katie - 1
Marcus - 1
Bill B (and Susan!) - 1

Shrimp Shapes remind me of the "parts is parts" McNugget commercial. I think they included fish heads. They are kind of the hotdog of the seafood world. Mexican Straw Hats rocked! Weren't they a precursor to walking tacos? Chili and cinnamon rolls were the BEST! Those things were as big as your face and twice as yummy.

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

I think the proper attire for Saturday night is skinny leather ties and lots of hair gel.

09/29/08 03:53 PM #248

Michael Hasty

Coincidentally, the "hamburgers" were made of specially processed shrimp.

I was assuming Saturday night called for business casual, or at least that's what I planned on.

Don't forget to tight-roll your pants around your ankles. And you have to award a special prize to anyone showing up with a mullet-hair-do.

09/30/08 04:45 PM #250

Michael Hasty

I think a mullet's technically a hair DON'T.

Dan Ervin

seriously -
is it biz casual or casual? formal?

09/30/08 08:00 PM #252

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Sorry for goofing Dan-o. I think it is business casual. The whole weekend is scheduled as laid back and fun so we can be comfy! I'm leaving the prom dress in Ankeny, so put the tux back in storage for our 50th reunion. :)

Shelly tells me it is casual - jeans accepted

I'm still back on the favorite school lunch. I don't remember what the main dish was but my favorite was the brownies. In fact, the brownie lunch is how I got to know and became friends w/ Karry Auten. Everyone was so scared of her rough and tough exterior that she could do whatever she pleased at Duncombe Elementary. That is until, she tried to take MY brownie off my lunch plate. Well, don't mess w/ my vittles, especially chocolate! That is when I stood up to her and demanded my brownie back! Do you remember Karry? We became friends and remained friends all through those roller coaster years of growing up and it was a pleasure to have Karry as a friend, we had tons of fun!

10/01/08 04:10 PM #255

Katie Degen (Coleman)

In response to the dress for Saturday night, I think I'm going w/ the jeans. Unless of course I find some dynomite outfit from the 80's in the back of my closet and that is possible, I'm a bit of a pack rat.
Friday night is Dodger attire. One aquires plenty when shuffling 4 active kids through school. Anyone planning on face paint or spraying hair red and black??? HEE! HEE!

10/01/08 06:56 PM #256

Karry Auten

Hey Katie, Well now, as my memory serves me.... I didn't attend Duncombe. The rest may be history tho..... But it took place at North Junior High. Yes Katie we had some crazy times. Some to speak of, some not. I agree, it was quite the roller coaster ride, and the pleasures all mine.

I'm still taking votes for favorite school lunch so you are in luck Katie. I love the story about you and Karry! Hilarious. Think we can have the lunch ladies bake up some brownies especially for the reunion? YUM!

Oh, Katie and Karry, how's come you aren't registered for the reunion yet? Get on the ball ladies! :)

Karry Auten

My favorite school lunch was frozen grape juice. Im sad to say that I will not be attending the reunion. We are unable to make the trip back again this year.

Anne Dorage

Chili and Cinnamon rolls were my favorite, don't forget the skinny carrot sticks we had with them!

Kari-I was never scared of you!!

Our senior year was my favorite year, best memories were from being in DECA and having Mr. Patterson! A few of us would skip his class and go get Burger King for breakfast, he never got us in trouble!

Mmmm frozen grape juice. I'd completely forgotten about that! Anne, did you dip your cinnamon rolls and carrots into the chili too? :) It seems so weird, but they tasted even better that way!

10/03/08 04:03 PM #261

Katie Degen (Coleman)

OK you are right Karry, it was NJH because I have a class picutre of us in I think Ms. Wolter's class. She was so cool. Guess, everything starts to blend together as the years get on coupled w/ some dead brain cells!

10/04/08 12:22 AM #262

Jeffrey Allers

I remember grade school with Karry, although I don't recall her ever stealing my brownies:-)

10/04/08 03:33 AM #263

Stacey Besch (Andreessen)

I remember you Jeff having a certain dream girl in grade school, wonder who that was?

10/04/08 03:39 AM #264

Stacey Besch (Andreessen)

I also remember you in band class playing the music from STAR WARS- , your favorite movie back then . Rachel Krieger used to get so mad at you . It's been a long time since St. Paul's .

10/04/08 07:59 AM #265

Jeffrey Allers

Ah yes, the release of the next Star Wars film and the Moonlight Skate with the girl he's been chasing all through elementary school--defining moments in the life of a 6th-grader:-)

How'd we get to start reflecting THAT far back? Guess we'll have to have a St. Paul's reunion, Karry and Stacey...

Question about tix for Saturday...

I received a paypal confirmation by email, however I have not seen hard copy of tickets...are there actual tickets that are being mailed out or is there just a guest list of those who paid at the door on Saturday night?
