Oooh, oooh, I know! Revenge of the Nerds! How would you like a nickname like Booger? :)

08/07/08 03:18 PM #168

Dan Ervin

How would you like a nickname like "Duran Dan"???
There was "Danimal" i guess. at least that had some sort of cool connotation to it.

08/08/08 11:32 AM #169

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Actually, I loved the Duran Dan nickname. Of course it wasn't my moniker :p :)

08/08/08 03:33 PM #170

Dan Ervin

You wouldn't have loved it if whenever you tried to go trolling you heard, "Hey aren't you that Duran Dan guy?"

Not cool.

08/08/08 04:54 PM #171

Jeffrey Allers

Okay, another clue to my lyric is that Duran Dan may actually be the only one to remember who sang it.

C'mon Dan-o, don't dissapoint me!

08/08/08 05:47 PM #172

Dan Ervin

Man - you've stumped me on this one Jeff...

Jeff informs me that the lyric is from a song that was written by a former member of Real Politik.

I barely even remember the song...I drank in high school. No, really - I drank IN high school.

carry on

08/12/08 10:43 AM #173

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

No wonder google didn't work on those lyrics! Speaking of Real Politik, remember Cy-Shem? :) I think I still have a t-shirt of theirs and a cassette somewhere.

08/12/08 01:08 PM #174

Dan Ervin

Apparently I abused more alcohol than I thought I did.
Cy-Shem? That one doesn't ring a bell with me at all?

Was that the band that played in our gym? The guys who wore florescent outfits and sang "The Final Countdown"?

Dear God please tell me that wasn't a hallucination...

High School - the foggiest memories of my life.

08/13/08 12:00 PM #175

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

LOL Dan! Cy-Shem was my German cousin's band so I wouldn't expect many or any really to remember it. :)

Here's another trivia question to get us all back in the game.

What was the name of the detective agency in Moonlighting?

08/13/08 03:23 PM #176

Dan Ervin

I don't remember that. But as a side note, Both Mike Hasty and I had CD's of Bruce Willis - The Return of Bruno.

No lie.

The only songs I remember from it were Respect Yourself and Under the Boardwalk...He really wasn't a bad singer. He's no David Haselhoff though...

08/13/08 03:25 PM #177

Dan Ervin

So seriously - am I the only one who remembers some band playing in our gym during the school day?

Please tell me I didn't do too many shrooms...

08/13/08 05:01 PM #178

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Nope, I remember that band too. I think it was our freshmen year because my buddy Anne Armitage had the hots for the lead and she moved before 10th grade. I think there's a picture of them in our yearbook.

Dan-o, I think the only thing you OD'ed on in high school was Duran Duran, Howard Jones, and Laciport Relooc.

08/13/08 10:43 PM #179

Michael Hasty

Dan, how could you forget Secret Agent Man on The Return of Bruno?

And how can you admit to the two of us actually owning what I'm pretty sure are the only two copies of that album ever sold?!?

We just won't mention Don Johnson's attempt at an album, OK? Or that I MIGHT have possibly owned a copy at one time.

08/14/08 09:05 AM #180

Dan Ervin

Oh! Secret Agent man! I remember that now. Nice groove. I have no idea where my copy went. If we had the only 2 copies, don't you think Willis should have at least autographed them for us? What a jerk.

Carolyn - Thank God I'm not the only one who remembers them. Who were they? What did they want? Why were they wearing spandex?

08/14/08 08:52 PM #181

Kurt Brueschke

???? Blue Moon Detective Agency...! In a way I cheated... We have the complete series on DVD, and I watched them all in the last year or so. Hi everyone. Hows it going?? I love these trivia questions although this is the first one I could answer without using any resources.

08/15/08 08:57 AM #182

Dan Ervin

Hey Kurt! The water's fine, come on in...IF YOU DARE!

This is a "Clothing optional" hot tub party.

Just kiddin...we're not in a hot tub.

Thanks so much for joining the fun Kurt! Just like the lottery, you can't win if you don't play! Just for the record, the song that Dan said he knew but wouldn't admit to knowing was "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Here's a new lyric for all of you who are playing. :)

"Out on the road today, I saw a deadhead sticker on a Cadillac"

08/15/08 03:53 PM #184

Dan Ervin

A little voice inside my head said "Don't look back. You can never look back."

Boys of Summer - Don Henly

Thanks alot Carolyn - now everyone knows

Dan, have you taken down your Gambler and 9 to 5 posters yet?

Here's a good quote for beer thirty on a Friday afternoon...

"You missed two classes and no homework"

"You gotta fight for your right to PARTY!"

The Beastie Boys. For some strange reason, they're now considered classic rock.

08/15/08 06:27 PM #187

Jeffrey Allers

Hey, sorry I've been absent (I know, cyberspace hasn't been the same without me, right?)

No worries, Dan, I remember the band that played in our gym to (they are in our yearbook). They were wearing spandex because that's what THOSE type of rock stars did in the 80's (you know, the non-British ones). At least we opted for hair gel and thin leather ties.

And yes, Carolyn, I might still have a copy of Cy Shem somewhere too. Nice new-wavish music.

Scary that Beastie Boys is considered classic rock, but then I get that all the time from the youth in Berlin calling Duran Duran "oldies."

Speaking of some of those, how about this lyric:
I saw the world thrashing all around your face
Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace

(no googling!)

08/15/08 09:23 PM #188

William Bill Hughett

Your eyes with out a face. Billy Idol???

08/17/08 09:18 PM #189

Jeffrey Allers

Bzzzz! Sorry, Bill, but thank-you for playing.

Anyone else?

08/17/08 10:34 PM #190

Michael Hasty

"I Melt With You"

Are you thinking the original by Modern English, or the remake by Jason Mraz on the 50 First Dates Soundtrack?

How's THAT for trivia?

08/17/08 10:44 PM #191

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Dan - 11.5
Michael - 9 (an extra point for the 50 Dates reference)
Karry - 4
Carolyn - 3.5 (or 6.5 unofficially?)
Bill - 3
Jeff A. - 2.5
Angela - 1
Kurt - 1

Jeff! Cyberspace hasn't been the same without you! I loved that song and still do only I never knew the exact lyrics and always thought it was something like "mission lace" :)

Extra points for getting this song lyric...still one of my all time favorites,

"listen to the words that you say it's getting harder to stay when i see you."
