Oh so it's on then eh Mike?
Look at you go Mr "I've got nine points so watch out Ervin"
guy.

Jeff - welcome back to cyberspace. Me, well I'm heading back to insanity. They know me there. I'm comfortable. They even gave me a parking space.

Now we're talkin' New Wave--"Only You" from Yaz. I've still got both of their CD's. Their album artwork is as cold as their synthesizers (contrasting the lead singer's deep voice) with those two mannequins sitting at a table in a dark apartment. Eerie.

Nice job, Mike. And I had no idea the song had been remade. I guess it really IS an "oldie"!

Here's one with staying power (IMHO):
And all my instincts, they return
and the grand façade, so soon will burn

Has it been remade too?

Karry - 4
Carolyn - 3.5 (or 6.5 unofficially?)

Yeah for Jeff and Dan! A few extra points to Jeff for his stellar description of the Yaz cover. Alison Moyet is such an incredible vocalist; are they still recording?

Keeping with the "eye" theme of lyrics, here's the next one.

"I'm a peeping tom techie with x-ray eyes"

Dan Ervin

wow - i had to google this one (i won't submit an answer obviously)

Never knew that's what was said...

08/22/08 05:52 PM #197

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

I didn't know either until I came across it. I always thought it was something about a peeping tom turkey. :)

Good to know Dan, that you are a man of honor, I'll have to rethink everything Allers has been saying about you.

Well, let's not get out of hand with the praises here...

So, is everyone getting excited about the REUNION? Is there a count of how many are coming? Only 46 days left, and counting!

08/27/08 04:03 PM #200

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Alright Mr. Fancy-Tech Computer Guy Marcus Sheker, how'd you get the graphics in your message???? :)And yes, I am getting excited for the reunion! Maybe someone other than Dan will finally know the name of the lyric I posted last by then! :)

I'm lost and this has nothing do do w/ the song game but it does relate to music.
Cheap Drinks was a huge hit at BUTT this year and I heard many great comments. Awesome show and great job Dan! You guys are creating quite a fan base.
Anyone who has a chance to see these guys play should not miss out, you will NOT be disappointed!

Lyric: I'm a peeping tom techie with x-ray eyes Kewl, I just heard this song on the way into work this morning. Futures so bright, Gotta wear shades (something like that) I forget who sings it. Also, there was a sitcom that had this song in it: Head of the Class

Yea Marcus! Thanks for joining. I won't dock your point for not knowing the artist since they were just a one hit wonder group (Timbuk3) plus you added your own trivia about Head of the Class. :)

Jeff A. - 5.5
Karry - 4

Katie -
Thank you so much for the kind words about Cheap Drinks. I sincerely appreciate it and it's comments like those that make us want to work even harder because we realize that people are paying attention to what we are doing.

By the way, we are playing Friday night at Betsy's Blue Note (The old Hayloft) and Saturday night at Community Pizza (outside)...If you're there, you better come up and say hi!!

Awe man! I forgot to put up a new trivia question. Here's one going in a different direction, no movie quotes, no song lyrics, just pure retro trivia.

Tell me the purpose of a banana clip.

08/29/08 06:48 PM #209

Michael Hasty

A banana clip:

A- Holds bananas together.
B- Holds ammunition for an assault rifle.
C- Is (Or WAS)used to hold long hair back.
D- Drives cats CRAZY when clipped on their tail.

One of those ought to get it, right?

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Dan - 12.5
Michael - 10
Jeff A. - 5.5
Karry - 4
Carolyn - 3.5 (or 6.5 unofficially?)
Bill - 3
Angela - 1
Kurt - 1
Katie - 1
Marcus - 1

For those of you playing at home, the correct answer is C although I'm sure D is correct as well in some sick twisted way. Michael, please tell me that you never actually owned a banana clip!

Here's another song lyric (I can't help it, VH1 is showing 80 hours of 80s music this weekend!)
"A week without you, thought I'd forget. Two weeks without you and I still haven't gotten over you yet."

08/31/08 04:47 PM #211

Michael Hasty

Of course I owned a banana clip. I HATE it when my bananas get scattered!

Carolyn, you have forced me in the forum.

Answer: Vacation by The Go Go's

Susan gets the credit for that one.

Sorry I missed your shows Dan! I'll catch ya next time.

I spent Labor Day Weekend in Waterloo at Angie Johnson's making salsa w/ her and Heather (Swenson) Applegate. We jarred up 100 pints and 53 quarts and drank about a case and a half or two of beer on Sunday.

All the while I could have been at my St. Edmond class reuion. Not sure if any of you remember but that is where I actually graduated since I was suspended from FDSH the last sememster of our senior year. I doubt I'd know most those folks anyway.

Carolyn Crumley (Kleen)

Yea! Billy B!!!!! It's about time you stopped lurking here! Hi Susan! Hi all of Dallas! :) Of course Susan is correct Billy; the woman you married is beautiful AND smart, how did you EVER convince her to marry you???? Just kidding sweetie, you know I adore you. :)

New scores are:
Dan - 12.5
Michael - 10
Jeff A. - 5.5
Karry - 4
Carolyn - 3.5 (or 6.5 unofficially?)
Bill H. - 3
Angela - 1
Kurt - 1
Katie - 1
Marcus - 1
Bill B (and Susan!) - 1

Here's the next lyric up for grabs...
"Hot summer streets
And the pavements are burning
I sit around
Trying to smile but
The air is so heavy and dry
Strange voices are saying
Things I can't understand
It's too close for comfort
This heat has got
Right out of hand"

Jeffrey Allers

Okay, I've got a mental picture of a kid from New Jersey getting beat up by some California blonde jocks in skeleton costumes...yep, it's "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama, used in the Karate Kid soundtrack.

"Sweep the leg, Johnny!"
