George Zerfass Zerfass

I retired in 2002 after 33 years in the GBS Math Dept. Liz retired in 2006 after GBS careers in Home Economics (9 yrs), child raising, GBS Evening High School (10 yrs), and developed a new GBS program called Guided Study (10 yrs)

We have built a cottage in Egg harbor Wisconsin (2002) and since have spent our summers up there - drop by, we are in the telephone book.

I came to GBS in the fall of 1969 after four years teaching Math at St. Joseph HS in Westchester IL.
It was like I had died and gone to heaven - smaller classes, free periods, 50% more pay.
I grew in the department under the guidance of some great teachers - Ralph Ganzer, Dick Wagner, and Doc Mutchmore (all now deceased). I became a leader in the GBS Teacher's Union and was involved for most of my career. Named Distinguished Teacher in 2002. Played on the GBS men's softball team at Roosevelt Park for many years. For the past many years several of us have been on exotic fishing adventures and continue to do so.
