Sylvia Roberts

Married Jerry Cyree in 1959, except for my beautiful daughter, seems like that never happened. Divorced in 1967. Single for 20 yrs. Had a wonderful career with FDA. Married John Roch in 1987 - worth waiting for. Kept my name this time. Moved to FDA headquarters in MD in 1988 - retired in 1996 and came home to Houston. Have 3 grandchildren, Britni born 1987, Taylor born 1990, Allison born 1993 and 1 great-grandson Brennon born 2008. All live nearby and all were given to me to spoil rotten. These days I am doing geneology and loving it. There is no end to it and I wish I'd had the good sense to ask my parents and grandparents about their lives while they were still around to tell me. I can't believe that I can condense the last 50 yrs into this tiny little box.

I was much too shy in high school to do anything that would call attention to myself, but I do recall in senior yr in Mr. Hamner's English class I had my little square plastic battery operated radio with me. Mr. Hamner had stepped out in the hall for something. In 1959 messages from the office came into classrooms via a PA system from a box over the classroom door. Some of the more daring boys in class grabbed my radio, slipped it on top of the PA system box, turned the volume on high and ran back to their seats. Of course, this brought Mr. Hamner scurrying back into the classroom trying to send a student to the office to report the loud music pouring from the PA system while the classroom roared with laughter.
