Marvin,

Yes your right some people are all words and no action. I sometimes wonder how many have actually gone to a VA hospital and seen the men and woman that are there with injuries or sickness due to serving our country. I have and it is not a pretty site with some of them BUT we have to stand behind them and help them any way we can. They after all have given up their freedom to fight for ours. I hope all the vets are given the respect they deserve and not be like what happened to one soldier that I saw a vedeo of where he was ordering some food at a fast food place and asked if they offered a discount to soldiers. Their was a woman in line that came unglued on him and was telling him how you feel you deserve special treatment and went on and on ~~ it was sad to see and made me mad as well. They deserve not only a discount but a free meal as well. A customer tried to pay for his meal but the manager stepped up and paid for it herself. The woman that started the trouble walked out.

I come from a milltary family as does my husband and I thank them every time I see them. Which they deserve. We have a nephew in the service right now. So I agree with you and again thank you and Roger for your service given to a great Country! God Bless you and the USA!!

Merry Christmas as well!

Judy

I'll never forget the last time I went to the VA.. There was a young man waiting when I got there and you could tell he had PTSD and I really felt like he needed help. After waiting for a long time he got up and ran out. I felt useless.

It has always been a tradition in our large family to have our Family Party the weekend before Christmas. With 10 kids in our family it is quite a get together to say the least! We all have children, grandchildren, great grands and even great, greats! My aunt is 96 years old and we have a great, great who is 3 months! Lots of food because everyone brings so much. I have always brought tamales from Alamo on Berry Road. When I went this morning, the place was packed but I stood in line over an hour to get 10 dozen of those delicious tamales! Just thought I would let yall know we keep the Northside in our party ... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

I want to beat most of the rush (some of you have already posted) and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have much to be thankful for, more material goods than I need, but I enjoyed those Christmases more back in the fifties and sixties when we didn't have as much yet we had far more! Thanks to all my classmates and teachers from SHSHS (I still like to type that...ha).

Alamo Tamale is a good spot for Tamales or taco's. When I am in Houston and stay at my sister Shirley's we go there for breakfast and I get tamales to take home with me. They are the best!

See ya Friday night Shirley~~

I loved your message Kenneth (2841) - I too am blessed - have a great family, don't "need" anything, living a nice retirement life.  And of course the holidays are nice with my sons and grandsons, but you are right, my memories always go back to the Christmases of the 50s and 60s, never were rich, but always had what we needed to survive and thrive and enjoy each other's company.  Sweet memories of the innocent, sweet, northside - such good people back then - Sending out a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year wish to all my fellow 1968 grads, and all other years for that matter.  Let's pray for the year 2017 to bring peace to the world, peace and calm for our own country, leaders that have Americans best interests at heart, and that God wrap his arms around this country.  Bring back mutual respect between human beings, respect for authority, respect for law enforcement, respect of parents, admiration and honor for our armed forces - respect is imperative to our country's peaceful existence - God Bless You All and God Bless America

I had mentioned donating to Wreaths across America for the Vets graves. This past Saturday my Great Niece and Nephew volunteered to place wreaths on the graves at the Veteran Cemetary~~ This is a relatives grave here and they also got to place a wreath on 3 other relatives that are buried there. Thanks Veranda and Forrest Colbert for your love and support of the Wreaths across America program!

Merry Chirstmas from my family to yours!

If memory hasn't failed me, I think the Alamo Tamale company on Berry Road was owned by the family of a Sam Houston High School 64 graduate, Charles Morales Webster.  I hope I am right in that information.  I just wonder if it is still in his family.

Hello. I'm a Grad of the January 1970 class of good ole Sam Houston High School. I want to wish all graduates of Sam Houston High School a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. At least when we were in class back then, the infomation we received was current and good information. What i see being taught and what they are not being  taught makes me very concerned about the future of our country, as the United States of America. I pray every evening as I'm going to sleep about everyone I know, and others I don't, but also about the direction our country is headed. We are a nation built under, 'In God We Trust. I hope our nation never gives that up as a nation. It is what has made our nation to be who were are as a nation today. God Bless America and all graduates of Sam Houston High School, Houston, TX. My best to everyone. Have a great New Year fellow Tigers!!!
