Roger Bradshaw (1970)

I really enjoyed the inauguration yesterday. I'm very pleased with the past election. I'm tired of his speech being described at mean, angry, all kinds of bad descriptions about it. What he didn't do was the same ole, same ole. He didn't say how he was going to get the house and senate to work together like all the other lying presidents have told us. Just saying stuff to please our ears. He told it like it was, his plan for our country. OK, enough politics.. Sorrt about my mim-rant. Have a great week to everyone.

Go Trump!! I know all of you are not happy but neither was I when O was elected. I didn't break things and riot though. What is with that anyway. Somebody's mama needs whippin'.

yes Butch I too was tired of a the excutive office doing legislation duties and disreguarding the Constitution. I hope that police will enforce the law quickly. While I agree there have been cases of police over stepping there duties and they should be dealt with just as severely. I see no need in there throwing people to the ground and several officers using extreme force to handcuff them, when the subject is following orders. This said there are perps that they have to deal with and they can't always tell when a subject is willing and able to harm them.

Louis...I think people don't realize how many of the perps are repeat offenders and cops get weary of them. I have known a lot of good cops...family men...Christian men. We only hear about the bad eggs and therefore people uneducated are way too quick to form opinions.

Marilyn Maniscalco (Henley) (1965)

I regret to inform you of the passing of our 1965 classmate Vera Krebs (Thomas) on Sunday morning, January 22, 2017, due to illnesses. Her daughter Becky wrote on Facebook, At 3am this morning Heaven gained another angel as my mom passed on. While she struggled with different medical ailments for the past 25 years, the last few were definitely the hardest. The last few weeks were nearly unbearable.
My mom was the strongest, smartest woman I ever knew and I just thank the Lord that my prayers were answered and she went fast and peaceful. I'm not sure how to go over from here but I know she is still with me and forever be. RIP momma Vera Thomas. I love you.”

Vera was active in the R.O.T.C. at Sam Houston HS as a Sponsor and a member of the Disc and Diamond Club. She was also a member of the Latin Club, Girls’ Recreation Association, National Honor Society, Rodeo and Booster clubs. Vera attended Sam Houston State University after graduating high school in 1965.

Among her family members that she leaves behind are her husband Roy Thomas, their three daughters, Kandie, Becky and Kimberly and her younger brother, Fred Krebs.

Vera was a friendly, kind and lovely classmate. She will be missed by so many. Please pray for her family.

Sorry to hear of Vera Krebs passing ~ R.I.P. Vera ~

Here are a couple of teachers ~ do you know who they are and did you have a class with them?

Jacquelin Burnaman (Young) (1972)

Hi Judy, the second picture is Mr. Terry.  I was in his biology class and he made it such fun. I learned a lot about how people inherit certain characteristics and we had to diagram how all that works. Of course I've forgotten  all that now but I remember Mr. Terry's teaching style made boring things interesting. He's one of the few teachers I remember.

Hi Billy, It's been a long time. How are you. I had a chance to go see Jimmie a few years ago. It was great. We had a long talk about the "good old days" Hope all is well. Randy

Yes, Mr. Sylvester and Mr. Terry

Mr. Terry was my biology but also my Homeroom teacher! After graduating I was at a friends house after a funeral and Mr. Terry was there. Tunrs out he was a relative of my friend and I didin't know it. He was a very nice man and we talked a long time at the reception following the funeral.

Mr. Sylvester lives or lived up here by me out of Centerville ~ I was working at the Methodist Church in Centerville and a very nice member of the church would come by on Tuesday before going to the elementary school to read to second graders. As time pasted and we got to know one another he mentioned teaching at Sam and that is when I realized who he was. We had some great conversations too.  His wife had passed away but he did remarry a LAdy from up here and then he had some health issues, I will have to double check this but I think he passsed away. I will get back to you on this,

Judy

I had Mr. Sylvester for all of my biology classes at Sam. Loved his class and his way with students!  I remember you saying in a much earlier post that he lived in the Centerville area.  Please let me know when you find out more about him.

Moses Clepper (1976)

Judy: 2936, John: 2938, & Diana: 2942,

The 1st picture is definitely Mr. Sylvester. I had him for Biology as well. These writings are comforting for me to read about him. No, not the loss of his wife, his health issues or possibly his death. Quite the contrary. During the time I knew Mr. S, he openly proclaimed to be an atheist; so, to learn that later in his life he associated with and seemingly contributed to our Lord's work leads me to believe that he most likely became a believer. Paradoxically, during the time Mr.S was my 'Biology' Teacher, he also taught me one of my most beneficial spiritual lessons to date. My memory fails me to what the exact intent of his lesson was that day, but, the epiphany that I experienced that day was that the 'Devil' and God cannot coexist in the same exact space at any given time. In other words, I have a choice...it's either good or evil. Mr. S used a sharpened pencil and asked the class if, when the tip of the pencil was in contact with the table, anything else could occupy that same space at that same time? Of course, other than the ridiculous responses from the clowns, the answer was no. I've often reflected back and have been encouraged by that brief moment and wondered how Mr. S was doing and if he ever accepted salvation.

Judy, if you see him, please let him know that someone remembers, and greatly benefitted from, the 1st Bible Study that he ever led....

The greatest teacher of all strikes again!

Moses Clepper, that's a powerful post you gave us. Thank you.

Butch I totally agree. They do have have a dangerous job dealing with a lot of people that the world would be better if they were not born. They can't tell when some perp might just walk up and shoot they because of their uniform, which we are seeing much to often in the last few years.

Judy Maxwell (1971)

I am in the process of finding out about Mr. Sylvester ~ I called his home number and it has been disconnected. I have a call into a friend here in Centeville that will be able to let me know if he is ok or if he went to be with the Lord ~ YES Moses ~ Mr. Sylvester did find Jesus as his savior and he was very involved in the Methodist Church here in Centerville. He was a very kind man and was hit very hard by his wife Virginia's death. A lot thought he would never remarry and he spoke of his wife often. He did however find a very sweet lady that also attended the Methodist church and to everyones surprise he married Betty. It has been a few years since I had contact with them but will let all of you know as soon as I find out.

Judy

Mr. Sylvester update: Talked with my friend here in Centerville that knows them She said they moved from this area is the reason for the phone to be disconnected. As far as she knows he is still alive (great news) she is going to check on them for me and get back to me.

In the mean time who knows these two?

This picture has the name on it so you can see who it is. Mr. Moore was my bookkeeping teacher. I signed up for his class becasue he was cute and all the girls wanted in his class ~ it had nothing to do with our interest in Bookkeeping ~ however, I took 2 yrs of Bookkeeping and found out that I was interested in that field and have been in accounting jobs ever since. Thanks Mr. Moore for the great teacher that you were for us and the fact you kept me interested in learning more about accounting. Right out of High School I went to work for a bank (Lockwood National with Darlene Lucas) then went to work at Commercial State Bank (until the president was caught embezzling) Every company I have been with is in the credit or accounting departments, now oil and gas~ still working with numbers.

Judy...thanks for the update on Mr. Sylvester!  Good to know he is still with us.  Had a huge crush on him; absolutely one of my favorite teachers!!  I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to go see him when he lived in Centerville.  I do remember in one of the Centerville newspapers last year, there was a picture of him with some fellow Masons delivering dental care kits to school children.  And a few years before that, the newspaper did a story about him and his military service.  A wonderful person I shall always admire!
