Good Morning ~ Hope everyone survived the cold week-end!

Sherri #2898 ~ Thanks we had a wonderful time at Moody Gardens and the other spots we hit in Galveston. It was sooo cold but I think you beat us out on low temps. We did get one excitement while in the Rain Forrest ~ A fire alarm started blaring and they started an announcement to evacuate the building due to a fire ~ to find the nearest exit. All kind of thoughts quickly ran through my head ~ including I hope we get out of here ok! Nowadays you never know and they always say a large place where people are with family and friends are target spots I took my 12 yrs old niece by the hand and told Shirley (my sister) and Martha (my life long friend) lets get out of here. We talked about the time when we were younger and at the Garnada on Jensen on a Saturday morning and it caught fire! We were evacuated there and the fire was in the restroom upstairs ~ but back to Moody Gardens ~ just as we were reaching the exit some of the workers told us it was ok and we didn't have to leave ~ there was a fire in the kitchen ( a burger patty on fire set off the smoke detector) which in turn set off the alarms and the announcemnets. The Rain Forest is next to the kitchen so the alarm and announment goes off in there as well. SO excitement over and back to our regular schduled program! It was fun and the highlight of our day was Saturday evening taking a tour through the Festival of Lights ~ it was over a mile of beautiful lights and stops for free samples of popcorn or to get Hot Chocolate or to make a smore over open fire, AND I say tour because as Seniors we were qulified to be in a golf cart with an excellent tour guide. Some people were being turned away because they were not seniors and they had to walk it. They had blankets for us to snuggle up in and stopped if we wanted to take pictures. So speaking of senior discounts !!

Mel #2902 ~ Thanks for the list. I had just recently heard that some places give a discount but only if you ask for it, So I am now asking ~ we deserve it so why not take it, I wonder if some places require the "asking" as to not offend someone ~ hey if you look old enough then take it~

Wallace #2906 & Randy 2907 ~ There is nothing wrong with dreaming ~ To have the Super Bowl in Houston is special but to have home town advantage for the TEXANS and to dream of them beating the COWBOYS ~ a dream come true!

Have a great day everyone

Judy

Hello,  I know Binky Adams.  She is my cousin. I talked to her and told her you was asking if anyone knew of her.  She laughed when I read your post to her. She said to tell you she did pass your class and did graduate. She is doing well.

You can not paste without an Apple keybord. There is no Cmd on my keyboard. I was going post a picture of Gene Thompson from the 1970 yearbook, but, instructions said I could not post it unless I gave access to my computer, which I declined. It then said I could paste in the box but I had to use Control + Cmd + V. I will figure another way to post. As my Grandmother used to say: "There is always more than one way to skin a cat."

Yes Randy that would be a great event. The Texans in my have a terrible coach, who is supposed to be be a offensive guru. He hasn't brought in a quarterback, which is supposed to be his expertisve .He or the G.M. has not done a good job of elevaluting players and getting them to the place they can help the team.

He could't beat the Patroits without Brady playing early this year, if memory serves me he was beaten badly.

While I would love to see the Texans win, if I was a betting man I would give 100 to 1 odds that the Texans cannot beat the Patroits with the team and staff being in place unless there are some changes .

Thank you, Bobby, for the notice regarding Gene Thompson. I had no idea that he taught at Sam! I worked with his wife, Jan, at Klein Oak and attended Spring Baptist with them....small world!

Blessings to all my SHHS classmates!

Judy Maxwell #2908....boy what a bummer on the alarm...glad it wasn't anything really serious.     Yes, we did have the cold temps...and the wind blowed so hard yesterday and the night before you would have thought we had tornadoes coming thru.   but they are overwith now...and now all this week we have rain forecast for every single day for the week ahead.     Glad you enjoyed your trip/visit.   Did you know you can pull up the Galveston webcams and see several different places  while sitting there at your coputer.    I do that with Jackson Hole Wyoming.   I use it as a screen saver.    :)  Have a great rest of the week.

Hope you have your rain boots ready! Sounds like a lot of rain for ya! I have dirt roads to go down and too much rain sure makes me slip and slide down them. We are predicted rain this week-end but looks like your in for a weeks worth!

01/11/17 10:32 PM #2901

Louis Mabry (1963)

Sherri we could use some of those rain chances here in central Texas. There has been none in about 3 weeks not even a trace.

Sherri Cosgrove (Drake) (1964)

Hi Judy....yes, we are in for quite a bit of rain..... earlier (about 2 months ago we were in the middle of a huge drought....and we needed as much rain as we could get.....we could still use more.....and I imagine we will get it.   There will be no bottom to our driveway either...it is gravel...but if we get rain, and then it turns off cold enough to freeze....then thaw,  then freeze again .....there will be no bottom to our driveway.

You be careful out there

..

Louis #2917....I hope you all get some of the rain you need.

Louis Mabry (1963)

Sherri they say we might get some rain in the next few days. I walked out this morning and the driveway was damp, about as near still dry as you can get.

Sherri Cosgrove (Drake) (1964)

Morning Louis....we are "fogged" in this morning....it was 33° most of yesterday and last nigiht and here it is 6:22 Sat. morning and it is 42°...rain is still forecasted for every day this week...and 60° Friday. (the 20th)...We are getting the rain we should have had this past fall...because we were in a drought back then.

Have a good weekend.

Glad that your  area is getting some needed rain. Did you get out and get any interesting pictures lately? I know it is not the kind of weather you like to get out in, but you take some great pictures. I just thought you might have seen some foggy are that would make a great photo.

It was 50 years ago today (January 19, 1967) that our graduation ceremony was held. I still have my copy of the program. Who would have thought we would make it this far?

John,

Many years ago, when I was a young Christian, I attended a Texas state convention of our organization. There was an elderly gentleman on program to give some words of encouragement. He had this to say: "As you are, I once was. As I am you will be." He was right.u
