Charlotte Pate (Poole) (1962)

THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE REPLIED.   THAT'S A GOOD START (14 ALUMNI).  DELORES, I DID GET YOUR MESSAGE.  THANK YOU.  ALBERT, WE WOULD BE DOING THE LANDFILL A BIG FAVOR BY RECYCLING THE MEMENTOS  ALL AROUND THE USA.   I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM MS. PALACIOS WEEK AFTER NEXT, AND TELLING HER THAT MANY SHHS ALUMNI ARE INTERESTED TOO.  POSSIBLY THE DEMOLISION CREW COULD BE PROMPTED TO STARTING A PILE OF MEMENTOS FOR THE REUNION EVENTS.   I'LL BE SATISFIED WITH JUST ABOUT ANYTHING FOR MY FRONT GARDEN AS LONG AS IT WAS A PART OF OUR OLD SCHOOL.

Give my Brother Ruben an extra brick for me since I live in Florida and he lives in Conroe.  I just hope my wife does not throw it at me.  If you find an old paddle get it for me, it will be probably the one they used on me many times.

Please keep me in the loop!  Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Charlotte, for looking into this. SHHS holds a special place in so many of our hearts, and having a tangible piece of its history would be dear.

I think i might just take my hammer and chisel and drive out there one night and take a couple of bricks. They wouldn't miss them, beside Mr. Wilbanks is not there anymore. I live in Montgomery, Texas and drive to Houston quite often. Just might stop by there and see what's going on. I don't neeed no stinking badges!!

Charlotte Pate (Poole) (1962)

RUBEN, JUST WAIT UNTIL I FIND OUT WHAT THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL WILL HELP US GET SETUP.  WE HAVE 22 ALUMNI INTERESTED NOW.  AS JUDY MAXWELL SAID, THE MAIN BUILDING MAY NOT BE DEMOLISHED UNTIL NEXT YEAR AND YOU KNOW CONSTRUCTION PLANS DON'T RUN SMOOTHLY.  MAYBE WE CAN KEEP A RECORD AT THE REUNIONS THIS YEAR FOR FUTURE PICKUPS.  I WILL EMAIL ALAN SUMMER'S SECRETARY ON MAY 15TH TO REMIND HER WE ARE NOT JUST ONE PERSON ANYMORE.

Just kidding! Just kidding! Seems since Trump got elected no one can take a joke!! Knowing HISD they're gonna want to sell us the bricks. At least I got a responce. All my other post went uncommented. ;)

Of couse I would want a brick.

Class of January 1970.

Heck I would likely just drive by there when they start the demo and snatch one before HISD starts selling them.

Yes, I would like a brick if possible from the gym &/or the third floor.  My home room was the Art room on the third floor.  If not, just a brick from the old section of the school.   Thank you!

Larry Rose, class of 1962.

Is there a PTO/PTA at Sam? Why don't we propsoe this as a fundraiser for them and have volunteers gather and ship the bricks for maybe $25 each?

I belive they could raise a significant amount and give us all a chance to have a little bit of Sam.

(My first post. Been lurking for a couple of years. Maybe 4 or 5)!.

That price you can keep the bricks. I'll do what I mentioned earlier. Just stop by and get one pro bono.

What you'll going to do with all those OLD bricks? Build your own school?
