John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

This scripture has recently been on my heart and I want to share. It is my deep felt hope for you this Christmas and that you seal it in your heart for that day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Love to all,

Janice

Glen, thanks for posting. It's good to hear from you. It's nice to reflect on our high school days.....good memories. Just a little update: I've been married to Sherrill Montgomery for 43 years and live in Spring. Jim Ross lives in Austin. Ronnie (Dockens) Manasco lives in Denver. Janice is teaching in Conroe. I have lost track of everyone else. I hope you and family are doing well.

Hello Billy (sorry, I know its "John" but I have always known you as Billy), thanks for the quick response.  It has been awhile.  I know that I used to run into you guys occasionally after graduation but I think the last time was maybe 6 or 7 years ago, when my wife, Leslie (now going on 36.5 years), were at a Chinese buffet in the Woodlands.  We also live in your neck of the woods - a Houston address (close to the Potato Patch) and attend Spring Baptist Church.  It is really good to hear from a voice from the past.  Also, if you do have frequent contact with Jim and Janice, please tell them that I said hello and that I gave them a personal shout-out on this forum.  I remember Ronnie but not sure that he would remember me.

Here is hoping that we run into you guys sometimes soon in the near future as it would be great to catch-up face to face. For now, here is wishing you and the family a very healthy blessed Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Juanita Read (Cobb) (1969)

I just want to wish all of SAM HOUSTON classmates a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  This year has been very tough on Houstonians with the devastation that Hurricane Harvey left behind.  I pray by now most of you that were affected have been able to rebuild and your lives restored back to normal.  I also pray that anyone that has lost a loved one this year can trust that GOD is in control and although we miss our loved ones we will see them again one day. BLESS everyone and look forward to a great 2018.

Merry Christmas to all my tiger friends!!

This is a picture from 1949 or 1950 of my twin brother, Coady and me.  I always had someone to play with and fondly remember playing Roy Rogers and Dale Evans at my grandmother's house.  Unfortunately, I lost my playmate in 2009.  Still miss him!!!

Debbie Vollert (Campbell) (1971)

The recent post about a classmate's passing and other posts with Christmas wishes caused me to think about others who have lost loved ones this year.

I had a very good friend suddenly lose her husband earlier in the year. Our neighbor lost her husband shortly after Thanksgiving. Both will be celebrating their first Christmas without their husbands. The first anniversary of my friend's husband's death is about three weeks after Christmas.

I was thinking about something else when I took my two youngest grandkids to the movie today. They are ten and six. They were excited this morning because the six-year-old's elf had followed her to my other daughter's house. Our other grandkids are 19 & 17. They are not impressed with elves or decorated houses.  We probably only have five or so more years left where we hear giggling on Christmas morning.  That's not a bad thing. It's just a reminder that time has passed as quickly with our grandkids as it did with our daughters. I'm praying that we'll eventually be blessed with giggling great grandkids when the time is right.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus by enjoying time with our family and friends, let's keep those who are spending the holidays thinking about loved ones they have lost in our prayers. Let's also tightly hug those we love and find reconciliation with anyone with whom we may be estranged.

Wishing you all a blessed Christmas & a wonderful 2018!

Thank you, Debbie, for the reminder to cherish the ones who are in our lives and embrace those who are experiencing loss.

Jesus is the reason for the season.  Merry Christmas and God bless all of our tiger friends with many blessings in 2018!

James Carlin, #3451  There is a 1958 yearbook copied on Classmates.com.  You'll have to log on there, and do a yearbook search.  Maybe you'd know some folks in that book, as that's the closest to '56.  The last yearbook, from the old downtown campus is 1952, and they write in there that's it is the last graduating class.  Good luck in your search!

Back in 1980 I and my wife went to the 10 year reunion of the class of 1970. Well my wife of 39 years died on December 13, 2017. She was only 59. She had been diagnosed with a muscle disease in January 1997. She took a lot of meds for it but it finally took her on that date. She was in Mainland Hospital, Texas City when she died. I know only a few people met her at that reunion. Have a great year everyone. BTW, I'm 66 now.
