The recent post about a classmate's passing and other posts with Christmas wishes caused me to think about others who have lost loved ones this year.
I had a very good friend suddenly lose her husband earlier in the year. Our neighbor lost her husband shortly after Thanksgiving. Both will be celebrating their first Christmas without their husbands. The first anniversary of my friend's husband's death is about three weeks after Christmas.
I was thinking about something else when I took my two youngest grandkids to the movie today. They are ten and six. They were excited this morning because the six-year-old's elf had followed her to my other daughter's house. Our other grandkids are 19 & 17. They are not impressed with elves or decorated houses. We probably only have five or so more years left where we hear giggling on Christmas morning. That's not a bad thing. It's just a reminder that time has passed as quickly with our grandkids as it did with our daughters. I'm praying that we'll eventually be blessed with giggling great grandkids when the time is right.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus by enjoying time with our family and friends, let's keep those who are spending the holidays thinking about loved ones they have lost in our prayers. Let's also tightly hug those we love and find reconciliation with anyone with whom we may be estranged.
Wishing you all a blessed Christmas & a wonderful 2018!
