Ricky, yeah I know it reads Richard but....LOL

Here is a picture of you (see below) I have on my screensaver that is a big part of my computer at home.  That screensaver is kind of like the story of my life and all the people that have been a part of it.  It has quite a collection of our old school chums.  Your/this image shows up all the time for some odd reason; kind of strange since my photo display is like a cast of thousands!!  Do you remember this guy??  LOL

Just a quick note to say I read your response on here about the 50 year reunion.  What an excellent job you did on it.  Your comments were most appreciated.  I had a great time too and for all the same reasons.  I have to tell you my side kick Maryann had a enjoyable time talking with you and many of our other "OLD" (that word seems to have a dual meaning these days) school mates too.  She appreciated your rather unique sense of humor quite a bit I might add.  Your comments on Sandi, I totally agree with; what a nice lady.  I didn't really know her in high school.  It seems our paths never crossed for some unexplainable reason.  I guess these reunion things can even be used as make up time for life's previous missed relationships of many sorts.  Shoot, I even got to talk to and take a picture with Vivian Westbrook, another wonderful person we went to school with that I had never really spoken to before.  She was as nice as everyone had always told me she was.  Heck, truth be known, we graduated with a whole slew of really good people.  I think it would be nearly imposible to ever find a better group of people all things considered.

Thanks again for your words and nice to know you made it back home safely!!

Okay Class of 1967! The largest and best Class to graduate from good old Sam! Which I will probably be corrected on that last statement! But anyway you sleepy heads. Wake up!! Let's get a group together for September and take the tour. I'll take my chiesel with me and get a brick for all of us while we're there. Don't let these young whipper snappers beat the Class of '67. Let me here from you guys!!!! Maybe someone will be waiting for me where we use to meet before school in the hallway by the Boy's gym. Well, just hoping anyway!!! :)

I remember Scarborough Elementary well.  My mother Silvia Crabtee was the clerk at Scarborough when it opened until she retired.  She worked with Mrs. Watson the principle until she retired.  I could never get away with anything because all the teachers would talk to my Mom.  I even helped her during the summers to get the books checked in and again out for the beginning of school.  It was a wood structure then.

Pamela Barnett (Daniel) (1971)

Shirley, I live in Conroe. We moved here in 1980. I would love to get together for lunch. Let me know a time and place. Daddy will be 89 on the 28th of July. He lives behind me. My brother had been in bad health for several years. I gave him a kidney 15 years ago and he had 10 more good years until he had to go back on dialysis. His body just wore out. Thank you for posting the pictures of Scarborough. The old neighborhood is basically gone. I know times change and everyone is for progress. I seem to drag my feet the older I get. But you can't go back and we really can't because our old homes are gone.

#3716- Hey Richard Hamilton! Good to hear from you.  Been a while. Hope all is well with you.

Hey there Robert Woodall, who sent me a p.m. on my profile page. Yes I was wrong! the projected meeting date is for sometime in November for the tour at Good Old Sam. I stand corrected. I would like to see a group of Class of '67 members there.  Gosh! Second mistake I've ever made in my life. ;)

I too want to thank Barbara Brandes Peters, Debra Shelby Jones, Kathy Newton, and others I don’t know, but who were key in making the Sam Houston High School 1968 50th reunion a great success!  From the little bags with all the goodies  we received at check-in time at the Holiday Inn; the complimentary breakfast buffet; to the beautiful decorations and set up at the main event; to the band that played so many of the songs of our era;  everything was wonderful.  We were fortunate to get a personal greeting from Barbara Brandes Peters during our check in (she just happened to be waiting to speak to a hotel employee about the Friday night activity).

The only regret I have, is that I was too shy to go from table to table to greet everybody, and look at their name tags to see if I knew them (the way Randy Foreman did)!  I missed seeing Debbie Carruth, Carol Larch, Richard Roberts, Sonya Brock, Penny Roberston, James Cashion( and  Carla), Linda De La Rosa, Jessie Gonzalez, Cindy Price and Robert Hinson (I know…he’s a 1969 graduate!)  I would have enjoyed seeing Mr. Thornton ( who was a counselor at Sam Houston when I was in the 10th grade; he drove the bus I rode), and Ms. Emma Scott (my PE teacher).  I understood that they were going to try to attend, if possible.

However, I had the pleasure of sitting at the table with my good friend, and college roommate Linda Denton Weatherly, and her husband, Jerry;  Johnny and Glenda (Burnett) Folkes, Debbie Harmon and her husband, and Vivian Westbrook and her husband.  I also saw Edgar (Ed)  Seay and his wife, Cindy, Randy Foreman and his wife Linda, Debra Shelby Jones, Brenda Barfield, Sandi Lowe (another college roommate and wonderful friend), the Conrad twins, Lori Wingate, and several others who were in the Meistersingers.

Kathy Newton, I would have liked to have seen you to let you know how much I enjoy your postings on this Message forum.  I also needed to apologize for stating that you were a Meistersinger in one of my postings.  I had you confused with Kathy Hester (who was a Houstonette, and also a Meistersinger).  Please forgive this out-to-lunch alumnus!

Lynton Ellisor, I saw you at the reunion; but decided to wait ‘til later to talk to you, since you were speaking to someone else.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity  to return to speak to you.

Even though I didn’t know these persons while at Sam Houston High School, I would have liked to have met Duncan McDowell, John Drake, and Marvin Wright (1969 grad) who have posted so many funny and interesting stories about our school and our past on this Message Forum.

Going to Sam Houston High School on Saturday; walking the halls; seeing what appeared to be the same lockers on the walls; sitting in the auditorium (unchanged since 1968); seeing the cafeteria and the girls’ gym brought a flood of wonderful memories.  I had the privilege of meeting Judy Maxwell there, and talking to her briefly about the story she posted on this Message Forum about making the programs for “South Pacific” (the musical we put on the spring of 1968).  I found that program inside of my Coloneh (sp?) last week.  I’m still mourning the fact that our old school is being torn down; and that the name is being changed to “Houston High School”.

I will probably not be able to attend any more SHHS Alumnus get-togethers (Houston traffic!).  So I want to thank the committee that worked tirelessly for so many months to make this an unforgetful event! It was a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to see friends I had not seen in 50 years! What a gift from God to have had so many of you as my friends in 1968; and what a gift from God to have the opportunity to see you, once again, 50 years later!

Glad you enjoyed the tour on Saturday....and glad you went to your reunion. We will be having more gatherings and you mentioned not going due to Houston traffic ~ well I'm sure if you want to join in someone would give you a ride. What area of town do you live in? I drive in from Centerville to Houston ~ keep watching for more happenings and we can figure a way to get you there is you want to go.

Judy Maxwell Post# 3725

I live in Kinder, Louisiana.  A town that has less citizens than the entire student body at Sam Houston High School in 1968.  I have not lived in Houston since 1977.  I used to be very adept at zipping in and out of lanes on the freeways for 6 out of the 10 years I lived in Houston.  Unfortunately, my  Houston driving skills are gone.  Now, I travel to Houston with "fear and trembling" ( I have two siblings and a son and his family living in Houston).

(I wish I had joined you at Big Buger V) II may get a few that do not agree with me but .......over the years I have enjoyed the BBQ INN less and less and they just keep getting higher and higher.....I love me some Big Burger V though and the  food still as good as ever.....I would have loved to see that bus up close.....Sorry I missed that..Do you still have it?
