I got a call from Sharon Dickenson (Marlowe) today. She still has not gotten a definitive diagnosis. The two areas that were biopsied did not show cancer, but there was a third area that the doctor wanted to biopsy, but could not reach. The not knowing is really hard for her. She is still coughing a lot, has no energy, and is still loosing weight, but her faith is strong and she trusts that our Lord, the Great Physician, will hold her safe in his hand regardless of the diagnosis and outcome.

She's appreciates all the prayers sent up for her and asked that we continue to lift her up in our prayers.

I don't know what your timeline is for the 60 birthday party but  I could host that party at my house all afternoon and evening on a Saturday.  memorial day weekend?  Happens to be around my birthday:)  We could have yard games, music (oh yes I have s band in mind if they aren't already booked), a few contests maybe.  What a hoot!   So our out of town friends could join us.  Some of us have extra rooms for one night.  I am thinking cupcakes-we could order them!  Everybody bring a side dish to share and their own drinks, maybe a cooler.  Greg and I can smoke some meat and provide buns or hamburgers and hotdogs.  I would just have to see pretty quick about the band.    Oh anyway, put me on the committee:)

Birthday Party Survey!

Attention gang. I'll be closing out this survey by the end of the month so if you want to provide your feedback before the organizing committee starts making decisions please send it in ASAP.

So far we've had 40 responses, or roughly 10 percent of the class, and about 16 percent of the members of this forum.  Based on the responses, it looks like it might be a pretty big party.

You have, or soon will have, survived sixty years on this planet against all odds! Scattered around you are many other beloved GRISSOM CLASSMATE survivors of the AGE APOCALYPSE. This is cause for celebration of the highest order! Hence the calling of the trumpets to gather together for a BIG CLASS PARTY later this year!

Your Birthday Party Action Team (BPAT) has set a tentative date of 17 September 2016 for the festivity. We are now researching venues (TBA). There will be socializing, eating, drinking, dancing and, of course, CAKE! (which you will be allowed to eat).  Start making your travel plans you out-of-towners!

Some of us have already hit 60 and 60 is fast approaching for the rest of us, so it is time to have a 60th Birthday Party!  We will gather on Saturday, September 17, at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course Clubhouse (location of our 20 Year Reunion) for food, fellowship, and birthday cake!  An email has been sent to you with additional details and more details about the actual event will follow, but make you plan to be in Huntsville on September 17.  When the time comes, we will set-up registration through the website like we did for the reunion.

Hi All,

I'm really proud of the team work the Birthday Party Action Team has been showing. Things are coming together nicely!  Please be on look out for the info email. You don't want to miss this gathering. We are setting it up as a casual event, with five hours to socialize and relax with your friends, buddies and classmates. Food, Music and Dancing will be available, but mainly, so will be time!  Unlike our noisy (but fun) reunions with their scripted entertainment, this will be mingle oriented event, allowing plenty of time to catch up! Also, we are building some additional activities that are optional around it, such as going to Grissom's Friday night football game en masse to cheer them on, doing a golf outing on Saturday before the party, etc...Catfish and I are also looking to have an after-party get together "wind down" at the Hampton Inn.

Hotel Lodging - update (May 12, 2016) - lodging for the September 16-17 weekend... for the 60th Birthday Party!     

We currently have 30 rooms (15 king & 15 (2)Queens) reserved/blocked at the Hampton Inn (Hampton Cove Area) 256-532-2110 @ 102.70 a night (90+taxes-etc).

The rooms are for 2 nights - both the 16th and 17th - not knowing if folks will be rolling in to attend the Grissom High School Football game that Friday (16th) night.  THOUGH - If folks only need Saturday - that can be adjusted at time of booking.
 
The block of rooms will be held for us up to 3 weeks prior to the event - rooms that are not accounted for at that time will be released.  
 
Rooms that are booked - may be cancelled 48 hours prior to check in without penalty.

The rooms are under: "Grissom High Class of 74 - 60th Birthday Party" if you call the Hotel directly.
 
If you book a room - pls drop me an email to let me know - so I can keep a count of rooms remaining.
