In 1954, I received a full tuition academic scholarship to Stevens Institute of Technology to study engineering. In 1958 two important events occurred. I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and started working in the aerospace industry as an electromechanical engineer. Also, I started dating Gail Leggett. We married in 1960 and had 43 good years of marriage before Gail died suddenly on 12/31/2003. In 1961, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stevens was earned. Our union produced a son Glenn in 1962 and a daughter Lynn in 1967.
Glenn graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in Computer Science. Later he received a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology. Lynn graduated Rutgers University with a degree in Journalism and Political Science. While attending Rutgers, Lynn met her future husband, Mark Foley. Glenn and Ruth Ann have two children Michael and Kristen. Lynn and Mark also have two children David and Elena. Our four grandchildren give us much pleasure and happiness. We try hard to spoil them.
I enjoy traveling to places of historical significance and natural beauty. I have had the good fortune to have visited all 50 states. Gardening also provides pleasure and exercise.
Working for Kearfott Guidance and Navigation for 45 years, retiring in 2002, was very rewarding. I worked on a team that developed high accuracy gyroscopes for navigation systems that explored our planets, viewed the distant stars, observed the earth and helped defend our great nation. Many scientific discoveries resulted from these guidance systems as well as helped end the Cold War.
