Edith, Here's the inside scoop on maintaining a sharp memory. Didn't momma stress to eat all of those veggies, well that's still holds true. I"m also down with the fruits, now top that off with a pinch of (two a day) ginko biloba.

Now you're straight for the next 50 yrs. LOL!

Ok, since we all have had a "Rex snack" and we can remember everything, let's see if you can score 100 on this #144 Pop Quiz:

1. Did #144 have a newspaper?
(Name it for extra credit) What about this GiGi?
2. What was the Marching Band's mascot?
3. The Clarinet section of the 144 concert band included two siblings. Name them.
4. Which section of the 144 concert band has the most signed on to this site and are planning to come to the Reunion?
5. Who was Band President?

(Check my site and find answers; No cheating, finish the Quiz first Willard and Jimmy)

James I guess I will need a Rex meal, because I had forgotten I played the Bass. I just remembered playing drums with Calvin. Forgot the newspaper and the Name Seabreeze. And that list of band members, man I forgot about all those nuts! Man now you have got to have a picture of the band and the patrol boys.

Hello everyone!
I am Sharon Morgan, Coot's Wife.
Noone noticed the class of 1977 at Fletcher.
I realize that we are the youngest of the lot, but I bet
if we were allowed to get on the site, we would take over!(smile)
But all jokes asides, I went to 144 from 1965 to 1970.
I was in variety shows, as they were called, with Ms. Cunningham, she choreographed us, and noone mentioned Rodney McIntyre. He was our coach for certain sports.
I also know this was after your time, but I remember.
Even though we were in the younger crew, we remember Mr. Brymer, Ms. Coleman, the Secretary, Ms. Muldrew, Ms. Roundtree. Nobody mentioned those last two teachers. and I am younger than all you old folks!smile)

I can answer one your questions. 144 did have a newspaper. It was called the "Seabreeze."

Am I right?

OK classmates here are some trivia questions for you:

What is the name of the first black student to graduate from Fletcher and what year did he/she graduate?

Who was the first Black Cheerleader at Fletcher High School?

Who was the first black quarterback at Fletcher High School?

Who is responsible for the formation of the Fletcherettes and what year did the dance team come into existance?

Does anyone know of any firsts for Afro-American Students at Fletcher?

Hi Classmates, I have added pictures from the 1970 yearbook to my profile page, which includes, teachers, and members of the classes of 1971 and 1972 .

I have also added a few pictures to the teacher's profile.( I will continue to add more).

On the agenda: Class of 72 yearbook pictures, then class of 73 yearbook.

Also, will be putting pictures on the In Memory Pages of our deceased classmates. Please email me pictures if you want them to be added. I only have the yearbook as a resource. I can't stand the fact that there are no names to go with the faces of our classmates that are no longer with us.

Sylvia Jones (Martin) (1973)

A lot of clasmates have emailed me to say that they did not attend Jax. Bch 144 but did attend Fletcher during 1968-1976 . If you attended Jax Bch 144 and/or graduated from Fletcher between 1968 AND 1976, then you are a part of this reunion.

It is understandable that people moved into and out of the area but was a part of our school family during all, or part of the above period of time.

Nice bit of history sylvia, thanks. Hard to believe that Willetta went to the junior olympics and that there were only three of us on the football team at the time. Coach Poppell and his wife welcomed us into his home and was dragging us all over the state to track meets. it must have been hard on him. We thank him for his effort, picking us up and dropping us off safely back home. I can remember a game being cancelled between fletcher and raines because of riots in jacksonville. They did'nt want Rodney to play on some golf courses. Truth be told, they did'nt want us at fletcher, but we came and made our presence known. We endured, and look where we are today!

THIS SITE SURE WILL MAKE YOU GO BACK IN TIME!FOR ME I HAVE SHARED SOME GREAT LAUGHS AS WELL AS SHED SOME TEARS. REMEMBERING WHERE WE CAME FROM AND WHERE WE ARE TODAY. I WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS THAT WE WOULD BE WHERE WE ARE TO DAY.WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WE WOULD HAVE OUR FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT NOW? THAT WE WOULD ONE DAY BE ABLE TO GO ON THE BOARDWALK AT JACKSONVILLE BEACH AND SHARE THE SAME WATER THAT GOD CREATED FOR US ALL WE CAN ALL LOOK BACK AND LAUGH AT A LOT OF THINGS THAT HAPPENED BACK THEN.I WISH I COULD HAVE TAKEN EVERY BLACK I KNOW TO THE INAUGURATION. THAT WAS AN EXPERIENCE I WILL NEVER FORGET AS LONG AS I LIVE. TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE OUR AGE. OLDER AND YOUNGER CRYING. IT WAS UNBELIEVEABLE. THERE WERE PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS, PEOPLE THAT HAD TO BE IN THERE 90'S MAYBE OLDER WHO WHETHERED THE COLD JUST TO BE THERE. I LOVE THE COLD BUT THAT MORNING GETTING OUT IN THE TEENS AT 2AM WAS WORTH THE 3 LAYERS OF CLOTHES I HAD ON.I AM SO GRATEFUL TO GOD THAT MY CHILDRENS WAS A PART OF IT ALSO. THEY DON'T KNOW THE REAL STRUGGLE. MY SON AND OLDEST DAUGHTER HAS LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT OUR CULTURE SINCE THEY HAVE BEEN IN MARYLAND AND DC.IT'S AMAZING WHAT WE WERE NOT TAUGHT IN SCHOOL. IF THEY HAD TAUGHT US SOME OF WHAT THEY KNEW WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BECOME WHATEVER WE CHOOSE TO BE IN THIS LIFE.TO SEE A YOUNG MAN ASK HIS LITTLE 3YEAR OLD WHO WAS ON THE COVER OF A MAGAZINE AND THE LITTLE BOY REPLIED THAT'S OBAMA! I HAD TO SMILE AND BE GRATEFUL BECAUSE THE YOUNG DAD COULD HAVE BEEN TEACHING HIM ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE.ONE LAST THOUGHT, IF THEY HAD KNOWN THEY WAS BRING THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT OVER HERE FROM AFRICA, THEY WOULD HAVE LEFT US WHERE WE WERE.THINK ABOUT REV. MARTIN LUTHER KINGS SPEECH I HAVE BEEN TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP AND SEEN THE PROMISE LAND WE SHALL OVER COME.HE KNEW WE WOULD ONE DAY BE IN THE WHITE HOUSE.HE ALREADY TOLD US THAT SO WE SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED. I NEED A JOB! MY MIND BE IN PLACES IT SHOULDN'T BE SOMETIMES AND THAT'S REAL SCARY.

Donnie just don't want to let you'll know that he was behind the curtains on stage at Fletcher try, after the chorus would have concerts. Do anyone have a picture of the Girls Chorus and the Pep club (purple dresses & white blouses). And Roderick Wilson when he use to have yes and no,true and false questions that he use to ask the girls about if they did or did not do ____________.
Mac Freeman had his picks with the girls at #144. At #144 the first girl to get pregnant and tryed to hide it by wearing large coats. Guess who? Levi Tomblin and Janie Mae walking from San Pablo because they were up the night before watching the Late Show and always missing the school bus.
