Just a little juice. Back to the memories of the really good days. What about planting the May Pole in front of #144. I am trying to get my girls to get my album from my aunt I use to have some of those pictures.

UNCLE JOE CAME HOME FOR LUNCH AND WE HAD TO HIDE. JANET HID ME IN TOMMYS CLOSET,TOMMY WAS AT COLLEGE AND IT WAS REAL DUSTY IN THERE.I STARTED SNEEZING AND COUGHING AND UNCLE JOE KEPT ASKING JANET WAS SHE ALRIGHT. SHE HAD TO KEEP COMING IN TO TRY TO MAKE ME BE QUIET.WE WERE A MESS. AFTER UNCLE JOE LEFT WE LOOKED FOR BG AND DUFFIE EVERYWHERE.THEY HAD CLIMBED UP A PINE TREE AND WS WAITING FOR HIM TO LEAVE.THAT TREE STILL STANDS IN THEIR YARD TODAY.SOME OF THE THINGS WE DID BACK THEN WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT OUR KIDS DO TODAY.NOW HAS ANYONE EVER STOLE THEIR PARENTS BRAND NEW CAR? WELL ASK SHEILA SHE CAN TELL YOU, I BELIEVE THAT GIRL DRUGGED UNCLE JOE, AND STOLE HIS BRAND NEW LINCOLN AND CAME ACROSS MAYPORT ROAD TO GET ME WITH CYNTHIA IN THE BACK SEAT LAUGHING SHE MUST HAVE SLIPPED SOME TO HER TO.SHE WANTED US TO GO DOWN TO JACKSONVILLE BEACH.YES, WE WERE ALL ROTTEN KIDS! THESE ARE THE KIND OF THINGS THAT MAKE YOU LAUGH WHEN YOU START TO GO BACK IN TIME.

Willetta stole our mamas car and rammed it through the door and front glass window of the country store on mayport road. Those metal post that they put there to keep it from happening again are still there today. Speaking of mama, mama did'nt like joe black. she thought joe black was trouble. well he did give me my first "doobie" (back at you Rex, wit da old school slang). she thought i might be funny, staying out all times of night with joe. she finally found out that we were with pam and lois. speaking of pam. pam, pinky and charlene sure knew how to throw a party, red light and all. music that made you sweat. Of course you had to dry off before the slow jams. x rated slow jams. Add carol washington to the group and we would all go out to Big Arts Place on soutel. Funny how carol would always disappear that night until the next day, hmmmm. Pam would disappear to, i would be in the parking lot drunk, crying and throwing up. Aaaah the good old days.........

There last party that I recall on 5th & 9th there were so many cars on the street and lawn that the neighbors wanted to call the po po because when they return from their late night rendezous they could not find no were to park.

QLM, Man thanks for the funky good times.

OK, I know that Sylvia is rushing to get to the '73 pictures. But, we cannot forget '69. It was a great year. However, you must take this two question Quiz first; then go to my page for the answers and more. Each question is worth 50 points. Miss one and you fail-50% is still an "F" as in Fletcher.

1. Who was the first(and maybe the only-correct me if different)African American Homecoming King at Fletcher? What year for extra credit?
2. Who made the football #76 famous at Fletcher?

Sylvia Jones (Martin) (1973)

James, I just love taking these quizzes.(smile) Thanks to you or should I say your mom, we get to see all the memorabilia and get to relive not only our Fletcher memories but Jax. Beach 144 as well. Please continue to post your pictures and other documents. I am officially naming you as our Jax Beach 144 historian for this reunion.

For the quiz, my guess is going to be Noah Jackson for both. I remember him as being such a sincere and nice guy. He was nice to everybody . Sorry Reuben Studdard but the nickname Velvet Teddy Bear should have been given to Noah Jackson first. ( smile ). Now, I will go to your page and check my answers.

It is so very strange; I was a member of the Track Team, JV Football Team, Boy Chorus, Mixed Chorus and the Get in trouble team and I am not on any of the the pictures we have seen of the different groups. I guess Lacy and I both were in the Deans Office trying to renew our Get in trouble membership.

ANYONE REMEMBER GOING TO HARDTIME PLACE IN MAYPORT? REX THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN WHEN YOU HAD TO BE IN THE HOUSE BEFORE THE STREET LIGHTS CAME ON, SO YOU PROBABLY DON'T REMEMBER THAT ONE. WHAT ABOUT HEADING SHRIMPS? I WENT ONE TIME WITH DUFFIE AND SPENT ALL DAY ON THAT DOCK AND MADE 30 CENT. I LOST 20 CENTS CALLING MY MOM TO COME PICK ME UP, SO I WENT HOME WITH 10 CENT AND 10 SORE FINGERS. WE HAD SOME REAL FUN BACK IN THE DAY.CATCHING RIDES ON THE BACK OF TRUCK TO GET TO HARDTIME PLACE.LET'S NOT FORGET THE BLUE BIRD, THE SIX HUNDRED CLUB AND THE VOOASWAR.AND THE DRINK OF CHOICE WAS BOONESFARM WINE. WE WERE SOME BAD KIDS GROWING UP BUT WE DIDN'T HURT NO ONE. DID ANYONE EVER GOT A WHOOPING FROM ONE OF YOUR NEIGHBORS BEFORE YOU GOT HOME FOR SOMETHING YOU DID?

TONY'S SEA FOOD (smile) even thou we live in a small town. my heart beats an extra beat when ever i come across some one, who knew of Tony's and when they mention Miss Dot, it just take you back.I don't know about you all, but if i could do it over, iwould with my neighhood in mind we don't own a motel, hotel, or inn in the areas in which we grew up. It is so fun as an adult reaching most of our friends, and sharing back in the day. But just think about this for a moment. We were some powerfull people back then and didn't know it.I am so proud to have met all of you,and thank God for my birth during the era in which i grew up. I tell our kids it is up to you. where you want to take this life given to you. make the choice not the chance.

As we enjoy the humor and share memories of good times from the past, for many it is a reminder of bad times as well. For some it is an opportunity to relish in accomplishments or the lives we live. We must remember that some have not been as fortunate as others and that this is an opportunity for all to bask in the glory of life and surviving to say, hey, i'm alive. I say what we have always said since the beginning, this is about you. This is your opportunity to renew old acquaintances and renew relationships with friends long gone from your life. This is a an opportunity to leave bad times and negative memories behind where they belong. A time to apologize for somethig said or done wrong. A time to reconnect with someone who has long been missing from your life and now you get an opportunity to say, hey, i miss you, i've been thinking about you, i'm sorry or even i love you. I encourage each one you to be a part, to encourage others to be a part of this event. This reunion is nothing more than a party with a purpose, to connect the missing dots that have gone in different directions. No one said it better than Jimmy Gamble when he said "this is a party for the class of 71." Yea, thats a challenge. Honestly, this is maybe a once in a life time opportunity. Have fun, reconnect and make the most of it.....

Sylvia Jones (Martin) (1973)

Willard, I agree and thanks for stressing and reminding us time and again what this reunion is all about. We want to see all of our clasmates, even if they are going through some trials and tribulations at this time. Sandra, you have also stressed this point time and time again. Class Sandra Davis has also stress the need for us to find a way to reach out to those of our classmates that are in a crisis point in their lives. You know sometimes an encouraging word and just letting someone know you care about them will brighten up their lives. So, we should never thumb down our nose at those who are less fortunate than we are, but show them love and welcome them. We all have had our moments, some good and some that we don't care to even remember. However, god has seen us through and will continue to be there in our lives to see us through whatever burdens we have to bear. You know after reading your message, I got on the phone and once again contacted a teacher of ours that had a bad situation some years ago and would not get off the phone until I had convinced him and his spouse to join us. I had tried before but Willard your message made me see that I had to try again. I think I was successful.

Today, was not a very good day for me but one of tears and sadness. I was riding along thinking about the recent loss of all our classmates and then I found out on Saturday, that my mom's best friend Dradine , adopted daughter, Cherica Curry had passed. I just started to cry as I was riding along, and the realization hit me again of how sometime we take each other and life for granted. I praise god for all things in my life.

Willard, made a good point, this reunion will give us a chance to reconnect and I'm sure everyone has probably reconnected with someone they hadn't heard from in ages on this website. I come to website everyday and the laughs and the memories make my day so much better. It's so wonderful to hear from everybody. I can't describe how touching it is to hear from everyone. Let's make it our mission to find those that are not here because they don't feel they belong, or those that may not deal with computers. Let's get their permission to ask least go in and put their name, city, and state.

Another question I asked myself about this reunion was: why so long before we actually tried to come together? Why, was it that we came together at Kenny's homegoing services? Why, at this point in our lives? Then, I thought to myself because God brought us together and he felt the time was right. Just imagine we gathered to say our farewells to my cousin and one of our dear classmates and look what has become of it. I know he and all our other loved ones and classmates are looking down upon us and smiling. I'm so sad that they will not be with us in the flesh but I just know that they will be there in spirit at this wonderful event. So, classmates, I ask that we continue to locate our classmates and that we continue to communicate and use this website to lift each other up. God Bless

I'm so sorry for going on like this. I didn't mean to write a book . I just stared to write and the feeling came to me and the words began to flow.
