Sheila Davis (1975 ) (1975)

Happy Father's Day to those of you who are indeed Father's.

Luther Vandross's
"Dance with my Father Again"

I too miss my Father Joseph Davis Sr.

To me that was My Giant who had Fallen, when he left this earth. I continue to visit/talk to him everyday, along with God I continue to gain my strength and guidance to make it through another day!

The Legacy he left is still Here and will Remain!

So I say to you, those of you whose Father's are still here on this earth, show your Love and Gratitude to them while they are living.

I continue to tell myself that God needed another Soldier to help fight this earthly war.

Be Blessed!

My Essenyce

Sheila

TO all my strong praying Brothers and Sisters, Mattie Lou (Upchurch) Hall is in the hospital, I seek your prayers for her and her family. Men go to their site and give encouragement to her husband. The strength of the LORD I pray in each of you.

TO ALL THE FATHERS: I WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY FATHR'S DAY. CONTINUE TO LOVE YOUR FAMILIES AND BE GOOD ROLE MODELS FOR YOUR SONS, AND LET YOUR DAUGHTERS SEE HOW A REAL MAN IS SUPPOSE TO TREAT HER.I KNOW A LOT OF YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS AND THEY HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP IN A REAL GOOD WAY. ONE YOUNG MAN I MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME WAS DIANE MARTIN SON HE REALLY IMPRESSED ME BECAUSE HE WAS SO MANNERABLE AND POLITE TO ME. THAT LET ME KNOW HE HAD NOT FORGOT WHAT HE HAD BEEN TAUGHT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OUT OF ANY OF OUR YOUNG MEN FROM THE THREE BEACHES OR MAYPORT. THEY ALL CALL ME MRS DUFFIE,OR BOBBY DUFFIE MOM.NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAVE DONE OR IS STILL DOING THE RESPECT IS WHAT MATTERS TO ME. THEY TO ARE LIKE US ONE DAY THEY WILL CHANGE ALSO. SO LET'S KEEP THEM IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS AND ENCOURAGE THEM WHEN WE SEE THEM.WHO KNOWS WHO WILL BE OUR NEXT OBAMA, HIM OR HER MIGHT COME FROM BLACK PINE OR THE HILL.I AM BLESSED TO HAVE MY FATHER STILL WITH ME, AND I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING HE HAS TAUGHT ME IN MY LIFE.HE ALWAYS TELL ME I AM MORE LIKE HIM THAN ANY OF HIS OTHER CHILDRENS. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEAN.I DO KNOW THAT I HAVE DROVE HIS CAR AND BROKE THE MIRROR OFF AND HE DIDN'T KNOW IT. HE WE TO THE MOVIES AND CAME HOME AND TOLD US PEOPLE NEED TO BE ASHAME OF THEM SELVES FOR GOING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT BREAKING MIRRORS OFF THE CARS. THAT'S ANOTHER TIME I HAD TO REPENT. I DON'T KNOW WHY I USED TO GET IN SO MUCH TROUBLE AS SCARY AS I WAS.I WAS A REAL MESS GROWING UP. I USED TO SAVE MY LUNCH MONEY SO I COULD GO TO MRS. STEVESON STORE AND BUY CIGARETTES 2 FOR A NICKLE FOR ME AND MY UNCLE ALLEN. DO ANYONE REMEMBER MRS.STEVESON STORE? SHE HAD A WHITE CAT THAT SHE WOULD LET LAY IN THE MEAT CASE AND A MONKEY THAT RAN MY SISTER ACROSS MAYPORT ROAD.I AM GLAD I WAS TO YOUNG TO REALLY TELL HER WHAT SHE COULD HAVE DONE WITH THAT MONKEY WHICH SHE PROBABLY WAS DOING ANYWAY. MY ATTITUDE IS WHAT KEPT MY SISTER FROM BECOMING AN FBI AGENT. THEY CAME TO OUR HOUSE AND TOLD MY PARENTS I WAS A MILITANT. MAYBE I STILL AM WE WILL NEVER KNOW UNLESS I CAN'T HAVE MY PIECE OF WATERMELON ON THE FRONT LAWN OF THE WHITE HOUSE ON THE 4TH OF JULY.

I will definitely add all your request classmates.

I've always considered my uncle, Edward( Dillie) Sanford to be my father. He was always there for me and encouraged me to be the best that I could be. I miss him so very much but he will always be here with me in my heart. I thank God for him being a part of my life.

My Step Father Mr. Jaford Dove died almost thirty nine years ago and I still miss him. He was a great figure in my life almost never missing a chance to tell me something when I really needed to hear it, his timing was just good like that. One of the biggest lessons he taught me was " Always try to carry yourself in a way that people will respect you". If he had any faults I did not notice them because the good and positive impact he had on my life blinded me to his imperfections. He was a commercial fisherman and I can remember going out fishing with him and my Step Brother Gerald, we stayed out for seven days, they would fish at night and sleep all day,all I did was throw up from being sea sick. On the seventh day when we returned back to the fish house and it was time to get paid he paid Gerald and told me that "I just stayed sick the whole trip" in other words No Work No Pay which was one of life's lessons that I learned from him the hard way,Gerald did give me twenty dollars.Even though Mr. Jaford is gone Father's Day has a special meaning to me because of him. I hope that all of you Old School Reunion Father's have a great day.

DONNIE,WILLARD,JIMMIE, AND BUTCH, WHAT CAN I SAY BUT WHAT A WONDERFUL CHANGE! WE ALL HAVE OR HAD GOOD MEN IN OUR LIVES. I THANK GOD FOR MY DAD EVERY DAY. WE SHARE SO MANY THINGS. I REMEMBER I WAS HURTING SO BAD , I FELT LIKE MY HEART HAD BEEN TAKING OUT OF MY CHEST AND STOMPED ON,I WILL NEVER FORGET THE WORDS HE TOLD ME,IT WAS AS IF GOD HIMSELF WAS TALKING TO ME, I FOUND STRENGHT IN HIS WORDS AND MOVED ON TO THE NEXT MATTER IN MY LIFE. I HAVE A REALLY GOOD DAD. AND HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ALL OF US. THERE'S TIME WHEN MY SISTER AND I THINK HE IS THERE MORE FOR OUR BROTHERS BUT HE ALWAYS TOLD ME HE'S THERE THE MOST FOR WHOM EVER NEED HIM THE MOST. MY DAD AND MY BROTHER RONNIE WERE BEST FRIENDS THEY DID JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING TOGETHER.I REALLY MISS MY BROTHER.

I remember your father well. It took a heck of a man to put up with our band having pactice in his house every day. Your dad and your uncle Earnest had high hopes for us. We thought we did pretty good. we had the best manager, mr. holloway. We never could convince him that he and his tamborine were not part of the band. I saw Ronnie a few years ago. I ran into him at a Boney james concert at the Florida theatre. We talked briefly about old times and the band. how he would get mad because we were never on time. It was a chance meeting, i'm glad i did. funny how things happen some time. I know you miss him. So does all that knew him. May he RIP. he won't be forgotten.

I found out that you can get cheaper rates for rooms (same hotel) online. However, the rate they gave us includes breakfast for two. The ones on line that are cheaper do not.

Jimmy, thanks for that wake-up call. But this message is really for Donnie and all of the Class of '70. I looked at the numbers of those attending the Reunion and was shocked to see that we, Class '70, was only 1 attendee behind that talkative boistrous braging class of '71. You know the one with Willard, Jimmy and the others. That is unbelievable. And not to mention the Class of 72 Sylvia, we are only 2 behind you all. Wake-up '70, you are in striking distance of '71 and '72 and then we can take care of the others. I think we have already surpassed them based on our secret classmates' commitments but let's round up the troops!

Sorry, Sylvia. I just realized that you were '73. However, we are planning to catch you also.
