
Obituary
Johnny Ray Mullins, age 55, of Payne Gap passed away on May 4, 2011 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1956 to Leanza Mullins and the late Cody Mullins.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sherry Lynn. they were married on June 18, 1977. He is survived by three brothers: Dairl Mullins & Diana, Arizona; Bobby Mullins & Linda and Wendall Mullins & Sherry all of Jenkins; three sisters: Shirlene Wood & Bill, Ohio; Josephine Crace, Jenkins; Shelia Adams & Jim, Isom. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Greg Bentley & Lynn and Keith Bentley & Tonya, and a very special and loving niece, Keiley Shayelle Bentley, all of Payne Gap. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his infant son, Scott Andrew Mullins; three nieces, Brandy & Phyllis Mullins and Christina Grace; his father-in law, Palmer Bentley Jr.
Johnny was a devoted member and deacon of Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. He was a 24 year member of the Jenkins Lodge #856, F & AM, a member and current secretary of the Elkhorn Shrine Club of Jenkins and was President in 2005, a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was on the Jenkins Volunteer Fire Dept. for several years, he is a Kentucky colonel. Johnny was the most thoughtful and kindest person that you will ever meet. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Johnny and Sherry were one of the 4 or 5 senior couples in the Class of '75 that I can remember - David and I, Margaret and Jimmy Don, Ruth and Harold, and Virginia and Avery? I'll always remember Johnny for his sense of humor and his smile everytime you saw him. Who knew the last time we got together at Jenkins Days last year would be his last class reunion? Johnny was a man of God and a true friend to everyone...we will all miss him terribly.
