Steve,
I spoke Ron during the Super Bowl-don't hear from him in 30 years and he calls in the middle of the Super Bowl. I have a video production company that produces video scrapbooks like what you are talking about. We usually do this as part of a wedding video package for the reception. Anyway, if my service can help take a load off of someone I would love to contribute.

Great to hear about this and about everyone.
Bill

Reeve, Thanks for the kind words. Consider coming to the next planning meeting 3/7 -- it would be good to see you again and get your input.

Stephen! Bravo Dude! Sr. Susan sent me 100+ slides she shot of lower school which I have since scanned. They're of the students who were a bit younger than us, but they should bring back a lot of memories for all.

Joshua... it has been Way too long since I've even thought of Billy Idol!

Bill(y) I'm still struggling to get rid of the "y" please forgive me. Yeah, you can see how much of a football fan I am... I didn't even know that it was going on ;-) Perhaps it comes from living in Lawrence all these years... LOL! Come to the next planning meeting so we can talk about shooting us old folks partying!

Ron,

I will be there and we can talk about putting the video together. We should have plenty of time to put photos in order and music to accompany to make a very special video.

Don't worry about the "Y" just shows how long you have known me.

Reading everyones posts and memories is a wonderful trip back to a very special place.

Bill

Here is an article on Yahoo news about a school district in Colorado trying a new approach to teaching kids individually until each skill is mastered to move on.

Yahoo article - http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20090210/ts_csm/agradeless

funny it sounds like Loretto. We've been through it and we know it works. why has it taken so long for everyone else to get it.

Alison (Alie) Scholes (1983)

Hi everyone,
I sent an email to the Sisters of Loretto website and got a great response from Sr. Susan Swain who brainstormed with a friend and came up with a comprehensive list of faculty who taught at some point in our Loretto experience. She knows how to get in touch with most of them and I hope to see their profiles soon. Does anyone know how to find Sally Turman (social studies from Lower School)?
Can't wait for the party.
Alie

For those of you who were in middle school in the early 80s, the Star just ran an obituary for Jim Loutzenhiser, who some might remember for playing The Hobbit when we put that on in that time frame. (I want to say 1980 or 1981). Don't think Jim ever went to the upper school. He was only 40, and the cause of death appears to have been lung cancer. Very sad news.

Bill Groner! Thanks for offering your services. I can deliver photos to you at the next planning meeting.

Ron: You can provide your scans to Bill as well.

Peoplefinders: I recalled a few more names missing from the student list:

Frank and Anginette Weiss!
Sharon Forsberg!

Hi, this post is not related to the reunion in amy way and for that I apologize. This post is purely selfish and me asking for help to a very diverse group of people where an answer might come. Thank you for indulging me.

My wife is selling her house in Gladstone and while I don't know of anyone in here looking-if I did I would have contacted you already-I felt it would not hurt to put the word out hoping someone knew someone who was looking.

We are represented by Robbie Smart of Prudential and the home is in Gladstone. All details are available from me or Robbie-just mention me and he will talk.

It is a great starter home looking for a family looking to start. Times are tough, we have to look everywhere, somewhere someone is trying to find this home.

Thank you!

Dave is listen to Gnarls Barkley --- rocks.... Jamming to 'Crazy'...
Well I think its time to change to Van Morrison. It’s strange but many a Van Morrison tune will make me feel as if the sea is under foot once again. It’s a good feeling to be able to be alone with ones thoughts on the open ocean. It is a feeling that I hope to have the pleasure of feeling again.

Hope to see every one soon...

Glad to see others share such wonderful memories of Loretto. About 10 years ago I was working on my MA in education. They were talking about a new concept just coming into education - self-paced education. I had to speak up & let them know that's how I was taught. The instructor seemed floored that the concept wasn't as new as it was thought. Too bad it didn't catch on. My son starts school next year & I can't find anything like Loretto in the entire state (TX).

Reading the comments, I'm relieved I'm not the only one who dreams about being back there. Locker Hall seems to be a common dream subject. :)

Hey Everybody, Marion, Steve and I visited "Loretto" (now Lutheran High School) just last week. What a TOTAL blast! Some things are completely frozen in time (like the theater). Others are hard to recognize. What we did find out was that those Lutherans totally know how to party with bars everywhere! The graveyard and the school are encircled by suburbia -- weird. CU in June!

I found Pat Clothier!!!

About the Author...

Patricia Wilson Clothier spent the first fourteen years of her life on the Wilson ranch in Big Bend, Texas. In those years, she experienced the Big Bend as a backyard filled with cherished treasures and inspiring adventures. Patricia, an artist and teacher, now lives in Shawnee Mission, Kansas with her husband, Grant. Although over a thousand miles away, Patricia returns to southwest Texas as often as possible to visit friends and family, and to renew her spirit in the beautiful land of her childhood.

Yay, Internet!!!

I am bringing Sally Tureman to the reunion dinner on Saturday, June 6th (but not sure I can get her home due to other obligations).
Sally has given up driving and lives in Lee's Summit at John Knox Village (she turned 80 years old today).
Can someone else possibly take her back home on Saturday evening?
Also, could someone provide transportation for her to and from the Sunday picnic?
She has lots of pictures and artifacts that she would like to bring for Saturday and will probably take up an entire table. She is delighted to be coming. She does not use the computer at all, so all our communication has been over the phone and written.
Please let me know!
Thank you,
Kathy MacNaughton Hance

Kathy,
Marla Moore, Cissy Wagner, Karen Ladd and Scott Hayes all live in or close to Lee's Summit. I'll see if I can get you guys connected directly via e-mail so we can see about getting Sally Tureman to/from the various events.

All the Best!

In addition to the motherlode of fabulous people already admitting that they will attend...I send a call to...

Rob Stewart
Hill Hughes
Pat Knickerbocker!

What is going on with you? All three of you are really interesting people who I had a great time with in middle and high school. Rob and Pat and I would drive around and listen to the Sex Pistols, the Jam, the Buzzcocks, the Who concert with the PRETENDERS opening. What an awesome concert. I remember that Knockerbocker's brother went to school in London and he would send back punk - an education.

Parties at the house on 5oth street- cast party...with a GIANT HOAGIE. It ended up everywhere after starting out in the kitchen, what a disaster. I recall removing someone from the freezer as he sought relief from life's ails in the fridge. MIKE SODON. I apologize for barfing in your basement (I was headed to the bathroom, I swear I was).

I would also like to apologize for being co-senior class president. You who were there know why. Thanks to Leslie Grady for the yearbook that year- which clearly stated my motto "never to be president of anything again." Hal was the dominant twin president. For the greater good of all.

Don Hudson and the Volvo. You are the reason I own one today. Hard car to kill. John Hudson and the roller rink in middle school. Michael. Michael. Michael. Free Asian Lunch video spectacular. Not avoiding the peacock in peacock land. Not a log.

Lunch escape plans featuring the 4-wheel drive component of the world's crappiest International Harvester Scout.

Who remembers my brother Paul's very successful candy business which he managed from his locker at a tidy profit? The school noticed that a profit could be made in selling snacks after school. They promptly shut him down and took his business model over. Gotta love a monopoly.

Troy Garrison is another story altogether. Many, in fact.

THANK YOU to the organizers of this event. We're really looking forward to it!
