I left Loretto for Phillips Academy, Andover MA junior and senior year. I was terribly homesick and wished I had stayed home. I went to U of Michigan, where I majored in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Then on to San Diego in 1987 for my Ph.D. in the same subject. I met my husband that year, but didn't score a date with him until 1990. I did a Postdoc at The Burnham Institute for Cancer Research. I got married in 1996 and had my daughter the same year. I've been working in biotech since 1997 and just enjoying San Diego every day since I moved here. I've never gotten used to the beauty and the weather and the lack of bugs. I'm grateful everyday for my husband, my daughter and the beauty of my surroundings.

It's funny to read everyone's stories about Loretto. I just don't remember that much. Hmmm, I wonder why? The things I do remember and miss are the people and the friendships I had and seemed to have taken for granted. I hope that some of you will remember and contact me.

I remember the smoking lounge, doing really poorly in typing class, chorus, the exam where the only question was "why"? and the correct answer was not "because", getting test tubes with roses in them for doing well in chemistry, never eating lunch in the cafeteria.

Does anyone remember slave day? I was forced to wear an enormous swimming suit, flippers, and a sign on my back that said "hey sailor" and go out to public places. It was crazy!
