George Lacy

George Lacy

George Lacy passed March 15th from complications of Agent Orange exposure while on military service in Viet Nam. This was a long illness. About 4 years ago he told the doctors to “pull the plug”. They gave him 30 days, but he kept going another 4 years.

George was on the golf team at Center. He attended Drury College after graduation. Drafted into the Army out of college, George worked in stocks and bonds on his return. He retired from A.G Edwards at the age of 49 and moved with his two dogs to a cabin in the Ozarks near Table Rock Lake. George is survived by his two sons and two grandchildren. One son, Charles, is a bank manager in Willard, MO near Springfield. One of his sons, George’s grandson, was just accepted into MIT. George’s other son, John, is a colonel in the Air Force stationed in Namibia, Africa. George’s sister, June (‘66) is married to Dave Cowden ('64). Burial will be in Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery with three generations of his family. Graveside service and burial with military honors, 10 AM Tuesday.

George’s father was Secretary of the Kansas City Board of Parks Commissioners. The family lived in the "big house" in Minor park after the city took over Minor farm, later moving to Red Bridge

I remember hiking the woods along the river north and south of Red Bridge back in the day with George, Ron Schauble, and Bill Baskin many times. See you on the other side old friend!

George .......... Very sorry. I think quite a few of us, myself included have been touched by Agent Orange (the Vietnam party favor that just keeps on giving). Say hi to Steve and the others for me.

I remember the good times playing ball and other outdoor activities with George and Bill Blose at the "Big House" large lawn.  We touched base eight years ago and he seemed quite content in the Ozarks.  George, say hi to all the others you will meet.
