Adelaide Cecil Morehead Allison (1919 - 2009)

Adelaide Cecil Morehead Allison, daughter of the late Bernice Morehead of Maysville, Ky., was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Maysville. She departed this life on Friday, Aug. 29, 2009 at Kings Mountain Hospital in Kings Mountain.

She graduated from Clark College in Atlanta in 1942 and was a charter member of the Gastonia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

She retired as a teacher from Kings Mountain Senior High School, where she taught home economics and distributive education.

Mrs. Allison was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and the YADSEUT Club.

She is survived by her loving husband, Connie A. Allison; daughter, Sharon Allison Byers of Charlotte; son, Kevin Allison of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Justin, Alyson and Olivia; son-in-law, Johnny Byers; sisters-in-law, Johnsie Beaver and Vernie Allison; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear, dear friends.

Visitation will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Barnes Auditorium at Kings Mountain Senior High School. The memorial service will follow at the auditorium, beginning at 6 p.m. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the United Methodists Women, American Cancer Society, American Heart Foundation or East District Family Resource Center in Richmond, Va.

The family is being served by Withrow's Funeral Home in Kings Mountain.
