Cheryl enjoyed retirement after a long and successful career as a pediatrician at Kaiser. She and her amazing husband Nick and their family enjoyed travel, happy times with the extended family, grandchildren, and friends. She was a strong, brilliant, and loving person, and a great friend. We will miss you, Cheryl, and will hold your memory in our hearts.

I'm deeply saddened to hear this news about Cheryl. She was a part of my public school history as far back as I can remember. As a budding guitarist, in 5th grade, I wrote a song and sang it to my class, but I was really thinking of Cheryl. Afterward, I kissed her on the cheek, much to her chagrin and my surprise! I remember Cheryl as being very intelligent, somewhat shy around boys, and being a born leader at an early age. It was a privilege to see her again and to meet her wonderful husband, Nick, at the 2010 reunion. She will be greatly missed, but a part of my warm memories of times past. Rest in peace, Cheryl. You were a treasure. Scott Wartenberg

Cheryl made me a better student in high school which got me into college. She didn't know it, but I was trying to match her in grades. She was hard to keep up with!

I was very sad to hear of Cheryl's passing. She was a good friend to many of us at La Canada High School. She was warm and supportive as well as fun. We both became pediatricians and shared our career paths, but we did not share enough of our time together. I will miss her.

A few days ago on September 23rd, one day before her 72nd birthday, Cheryl Lynn Beckham Morell passed into the loving hands of our Lord. A devout Christian, loving mother of three boys, husband Nick and grandchildren.
I met Cheryl early in our junior year. Wicked smart, sensitive, pretty and with a focus on the future. We spent many evenings sitting in a park by a fountain talking and laughing. One of the first things she ever said to me was “I want to be a doctor”. She did just that as a graduate of USC’s school of medicine, did her internship with Kaiser (where she met Nick) and practiced medicine for about 45 years as a pediatrician. She loved to water ski, snow ski and was a consummate fan of most sports.
The last time I saw Cheryl was in February 2022 when she, Nick, Julie and I had dinner at the Chart House at Lake Tahoe. We closed the place relating stories of our children growing up.
Cheryl’s last few years were filled with joy and pain. The birth of her grandchildren and the pain from numerous afflictions and a bizarre accident at a children’s birthday party.
Our relationship was confusing, exciting and unpredictable but never dull. I was blessed to have her in my life. As Scott said above “You were a treasure”. Good friends are hard to find and even harder to keep. A 55-year friendship was more than I could have ever asked for.
