According to Carol Johnson Craig, who is Jerry's sister, Jerry moved to Heaven on April 19, 2004 from complications that were caused from having colon cancer. She says, though, that she thanks our wonderful Lord that he didn't go because of the cancer as God spared him from the agony that would cause. During our school years I was pretty close to Jerry, and kept in touch with him, and his sister Carol, since we were part of the youth group that attended the Assemblies of God church in LaGrande. (Some may remember that old church. It was called Gospel Tabernacle and was replaced by Safeway, which later was replaced by the new library. That church moved and now sits behind WalMart as the New Life Center.) I think of Jerry often. He did marry and he did have children, but still he died way too young.
