Who can forget Jan's twinkling eyes and ear-to-ear smile?  We shared many good times in high school and I am grateful for the memories.  We especially had a great time every week cranking out a little column for the La Grande newspaper.  Peace, my friend.  Sheryl

Jan was definitely my best friend throughout high school. We lost contact after high school other than a couple of meetings. I will definitely miss seeing her at the reunion. Reading all the profiles and information about the reunion has brought back so many memories -- good times. laughter, shared growing experiences. Jan was one of a kind and the memories of the times we shared together are forever locked in my heart. I will miss you always Jan.

I received this message from Sue, "... Jan and I lost touch so many years ago but I had heard that she was home alone and might have choked to death. Now I don't know if she had some kind of illness or something else went wrong. She was married to Mac Hindman and I believe they were retired and lived somewhere near the Oregon Coast... "

Jannie was my best friend.  Not just in high school but throughout my life.  We very rarely saw each other after she moved away from La Grande, but we always shared birthday and Christmas cards which made me know we were still "best friends."  Her impact on my life was phenomenal.  She always had just the right advice, and heaven knows, I needed it.  It didn't surprise me when she began her mission in life as an advocate for children.  She wrote some amazing books on abuse and was a nationally recognized speaker on the treatment of abused children.  She and her husband, did an amazing remodel on the old Hindman homestead in Durkee, OR. where her son Monte was married.  Because of Jannie's love for the ocean, her and her husband Mac Hindman, moved to Lincoln City, OR.  On September 25, 2007, Jannie left this world for a better place. She left behind a wonderful husband, her son Monte and wife, and an adorable granddaughter, whom she dearly loved.   I always knew, one day,we would have some great times together again; little did I know, it would be in heaven.
