Garrett Nicholas Mangin of Lutz, Florida, formerly of Clearwater, passed away on May 12, 1994 at the age of 50 after a struggle with Cancer. He was the founder and president of Compliance and Benefits Systems, Inc., a company that provided employee benefit consulting and administrative services, vice president of Robey-Barber Insurance Service Corporation and a chartered life underwriter for Chartered Financial Consultants. Prior to founding C&BS in 1989, he worked in the employee benefits field for twenty years and was involved in self funding for fifteen years. He was associated with three very successful TPA’s (Third Party Administrators) and had experience in all phases of TPA operations from field sales to claims administration. In additional to his professional designations, he held a Masters Degree in Economics from Northwestern University, in Evanston Illinois and a veteran officer of the Navy and the Navy Reserve. He was survived by a son Nicholas (currently with two children) and a daughter Stephanie (with two children), his mother Mary Mangin of Gainesville Florida, a brother Albert of Marietta Georgia and a sister Cathy of Seminole Florida. He would have loved spoiling his grandchildren. I was fortunate to become reacquainted with Garrett (Gary to his fellow classmates) at our 30rd reunion in 1992. What a memorable time we had at the reunion and the balance of his life. He certainly was a caring, thoughtful, good looking man. He maintained an infectious can do spirit and was enthusiastic in the way he pursued life. All of us who knew him are better people because he came our way. We certainly will miss him at our 50th reunion.
