UEBEL, Steven Edward

65, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Melrose Park, IL, and moved to Florida in the 3rd grade. He graduated from-the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Florida Blood Services board since 1984. He was also a member of the Statewide Health Council board (chairman), Florida Hospital Cost Containment board, Leadership St. Pete (class president), Shorecrest Preparatory School board (member & chairman), and the Florida Gator Boosters. He was a founding member and a board chairman of the Racquet Club of St. Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Edward and Lenore Uebel. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rosemary; sons, Jeff Carl Peterson and Christopher Nathan Uebel (wife, Missy); daughter, Lisa Funicelli (husband, Tom of St. Louis, MO); 4 grandchildren and 2 golden retrievers, Penny and Wendy. There will be a visitation from 5 pm - 7 pm on Monday, June 21st at Anderson-McQueen, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg on Tuesday, June 22nd at 3 pm.
