Good Morning Mates!

It is a wonderful Thursday morning and I hope all of you are well!

Had to be up late last night to watch the Braves game. And it was

some kinda  GOOD! the final score was 15- 13 Braves. But man

that does not describe how good that game was. And to end

with a two rum homer from Chipper. It was good.

So I hope everyone has a great rest of the week. And please

stay safe.

It was an amazing game, Jim!... For those who missed it, the game was expected to be a low-scoring pitching duel with our ace Tommy Hanson against their ace Roy Halladay, the best pitcher in baseball. When I got home from church the Phillies were leading 6-0. The Braves tied it up 6-6 on a grand slam home run by Brian McCann, then took the lead 8-6.  The Phillies took back the lead 12-8.  The Braves came back to tie it again 12-12, then take the lead 13-12 in the 8th inning.  The Phillies tied it again 13-13 in the ninth inning to send it to extra innings.  Chipper Jones ended it all with a walk-off 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 11th inning with a final score of 15-13!  GO BRAVES!  They're only half a game out of first place, Jim... they've looked great since losing the first four games of the season.  And they're hitting the ball too!  Good baseball!

Gary... hope you're settling in the new place.  BTW, I read about Komrade Obama's proposed government regulations to prohibit children under 18 from doing farm chores.  How completely ridiculous!  It's only the beginning, folks... we have to end this in November.  If you want your children and your children's children to live in a FREE America, this may be the last chance to do something about it.

WE NEED SOME RAIN!

Howdy everyone.  Thought I would take a moment and check in.  We plan to go up and spend the night in our new home Friday night and plan our move.  I have a truck and help laid on for Monday morning.  Right now we are wall to wall boxes and Sherron is trying to pack and throw out what she doesn't want to pack.  Can you say - too much clutter!!!!  Yes Don, the time they are a changin'!  I had to go over and help my older neighbor set up his computer - his old one died and he's been without one for about a week.  He said when they first came out, he said to himself, I'll never use one of them things.  And now he admits he's lost without it.  Maybe we could get Diane to send some rain our way.  It is sho-nuf hot and dry round here!  I'll check in again before I check out.  Not sure when I'll have internet set up at my new abode but will keep in touch.  Later.

Greetings and salutations one and all!  May I begin by wishing Linda and David a Happy (early) Birthday.  May your day be filled with much joyous celebration.  We are in the middle of moving and I may be out of touch for several days.  We spent (camped out) at our new home last night and have a truck scheduled to move on Monday.  Friday morning as we arrived at our new home, we encounter two police cars parked across the street.  We thought that was a strange welcome - obviously my reputation proceeds me!  Turns out one of the residents passed away sometime during the night.  His wife passed away about three weeks ago.  After all this is a "senior" neighborhood.  Made a couple of hauls of kitchen items and just enjoyed trying to figure out where we are going to put everything.  Met some really great neighbors.  They've already scheduled a welcome celebration for us.  Better get back to packing before Sherron raps my knuckles.  Later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY, LINDA WHELESS YOUNG!!! I hope you have a terrific day, with lots of well wishes and a big old cake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW ('cause I'll forget, I just know I will) TO DAVID LANDERS!!!! I hope it will be the best Monday you have ever had, and just keep getting better and better!

Gary, hope you are getting your drawers organized up there in your new abode in Jefferson, and that you and Sherron will not take long to feel all settled in.

Don, I know you and Liz were watching the derby yesterday. I caught glimpses of some of the hats, and a few profiles of the horse owners, and finally settled down with my popcorn to watch the race. It was over before the first swallow, which suited me just fine. Those animals are very beautiful though. Anybody have "be a jockey for a day" on their bucket list? HA!

Gail, I pray that by the time you read this that your son Jeremy will be safely home from Afghanistan. When I last I heard, he had landed in Jersey. Praise God for His provision. Hope you see him soon, if you have not already.

Must go. We just got home from church, ate a bite, and are busy with things to get Dick ready to leave again for Austin tomorrow. It's a beautiful Sunday here, but I have drawers to organize; large, white ones.

Love to all, and again, Happy Birthday to Linda and David, on the 6th and 7th! May God grant us all many, many more.

Greetings and salutations one and all!  Thought I would take a break from moving boxes and unpacking and check in.  Jim, I agree with your thoughts on the rain, but, couldn't it wait until I got moved!  We had to make three trips with a 20 foot U-haul on Monday, WHILE IT WAS RAINING, plus several truck and car trips.  I returned the U-haul about midnight and finally got to bed around 1 AM.  One tired puppy yesterday but no rest for the weary.  Had to make another trip just for clothes.  Even though we have boxes everywhere and working ourselves silly, we love it here!  Everyone is so friendly and ........ mature.  I guess I'd better get back to unpacking before the boss catches me loafing.  I hope everyone is have a GREAT and BLESSED week.  Later.

Greetings and salutations one and all and an early, Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!  My mother passed away when I was seven years old so I didn't grow up with the traditional mother, but was blessed to be mothered my many through the years.  As we moved according to Uncle Sam's direction, we seemed always find an older couple that would take us under their wings and share with us the lessons of life that only time reveals.  This is also a very special month for us as all three of our daughter were born in May.  Erin, our youngest is celebrating her birthday today and Jennifer, our oldest will celebrate her's on Sunday.  Emily, our middle daughter has to wait a few more weeks, until the 31st of celebrate.  I also noticed that Susan has a birthday Sunday, so Happy (early) Birthday to you!  May your day be filled with much joyous celebrating.  I hope everyone has a very blessed and joyful weekend.  Later.

Hello Mates,

Today is a sad day in our World. Mitchell Guist, one of the

two beloved Guist Brothers past away yesterday. The report

was he suffered some kind of  attack and fell out of his boat.

I don't know about you guys but the Swamp People folk have

been a very bright spot in all the glum we've faced of late.

He'll be missed not only by his brother Glenn, but we will

miss seeing him with Glenn in the Swamp!

Have a great week Mates!

Greetings and HAPPY TUESDAY one and all and a special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jane.  I hope you had a very joyous day.  Jim, that is indeed sad news.  Those two were a hoot.  We are still moving and offically put our Watkinsville home on the market today.  Had one call and visit form a realtor within the first three hours.  I hope it sells quickly so we can get on with retirement.  The men in our new neighborhood went to breakfast this morning in Ila while the women went to a restaurant in Jefferson.  We had to pass it up today but can't wait to join in.  We will be taking a break tomorrow and heading up to Lake Russell where some friends are "camping" in their RV and crusing the lake in their house boat.  Sounds like just the thing this old body needs.  I hope you are all have a very blessed week and I'll catch you ..... Later.

First things first--"Happy Birthday, Jane!"  Hope it's turning our to be a glorious day for you!

I have been without internet service for a few days, so I was afraid I had missed important news from my former classmates. Fortunately it seems not. Gary, I wish you much luck for a speedy sale of your Watkinsville home. It will be nice to not have it on your mind. It sounds like your new neighborhood has rolled out the welcome mat for you. They apparently got the glowing recommendation letter that the Class of '68 sent. Have a happy May. Sounds like there are many birthday cakes to be eaten!

Sorry, Jim, about the Swamp guy. I have seen the show, but can't say that I "knew" him. All I know is, when my time comes, I hope it's not in a swamp.

Don, I saw on facebook that you had a blow out on the interstate on your way up to KY. So glad you and Liz are safe! That happened to us once on I-71 coming home from the airport in Columbus. Dead of winter, dark, freezing temps, and Dick is changing the tire with semis blowing past. He also forgot his gloves, so he had numb hands from the frozen tire jack. But we made it to tell the story. Glad you did, too.

Girlfriends, hope y'all are all well. Love you bunches.

'Till another time....

Greetings and salutations one and all!  I too would like to add a Praise God that Don and Liz were not injured during the tire mishap.  We never know when a guardian angel will be called upon to intervene in our lives and I'm so thankful one was riding with you.  Yesterday Sherron and I took the day off from moving and headed over to Lake Russell where I stole a page from Don's "play book".  Some friends of ours were "camping" (in their 30+ foot RV) and invited us to come over and enjoy the day with them.  They also have  20+ foot house boat that I had an opportunity to "captain".  Spent several hours on the water just crusin'.  Last year they took their "toys" up north and cruised the St. Lawrence living on the house boat for three weeks.  A truly marvelous day and a good time was had by all!!!  I guess its back to the grindstone today as we continue trying to get settled.  Thank you all for the well wishes and blessings.  I thank God for each of you every day and pray that you will be blessed.  Hope you have a wonderful week.  Later.

Greetings mates... from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky.

As previously reported, we had a tire to blow out on our way up on Tuesday.  We were just south of Dalton on I-75 driving 70 mph in heavy traffic.  Heavenly angels were watching over us for sure.  And changing the tire on the shoulder of the interstate with those big trucks whizzing by was a little scary too.  After going to three places in Dalton, we finally found a tire to fit and were safely on our way after a three hour delay.  About 15 years ago we had a blowout on the interstate going to Texas.  It is pretty scary, and I pray that none of you ever have to experience it, if you haven't already.  We got to Louisville too late to attend a Baccalaureate Service for one of Liz's cousins, but the important thing is that we got here safely.

We went out to dinner at a very nice restaurant in downtown Louisville last night with some of Liz's family.  The restaurant (Decca) is new, owned by one of Liz's cousins.  I had the opportunity to taste a few things I've never tasted... lamb, duck liver, quail, mussels, and goat cheese among other things.  Pretty tasty, except for the goat cheese.

We're off to Churchill Downs today to see some horse racing.  In all the years I've been coming to Louisville I've never seen an actual horse race... working on the bucket list.

Glad you're getting settled and meeting your new neighbors, Gary... and glad you enjoyed the time on the lake.  We'll be spending this weekend on Lake Nolin with Liz's cousins.  They now have a motor boat to go with their pontoon boat.  If Liz goes water skiing, I promise to take photos.  LOL!

Hey Jim... are you watching the Braves!  It is such a treat to see them HITTING the ball the way they are this year.  Fun to watch!  Maybe those new hitting coaches are just what the doctor ordered.

Enjoy the rest of your week mates!... see ya down the road.  Reporting LIVE from Louisville... this is Don.

Amen and Amen!  I hope everyone is having a Great Memorial Day and remembering those that gave their all.  We are STILL moving.  Checked in new renters yesterday so that monkey is off our back, now if we could just sell our house.  All in God's timing - but I still wish He would speed thing up a little.  Another busy week scheduled.  Painted a couple of rooms at our old home today; infusion in Gainesville tomorrow; our youngest daughter closes on their new home Wednesday and I've promised to help them put up blinds and curtains, so there goes Thursday as well; Saturday we have a dinner scheduled with friends and Sunday, ah yes Sunday, we head of Hilton Head for a couple of days of R&R.  Well, as you can tell, not much going on around the Grice household.  Connie, I will get the class roll out - as soon as I find it!  Moving is bad enough, but when you get old and can't remember anything anyway .......  Lest I forget, Tessie is retiring this week - Congrations and Well Wishes go out to her.  Ya'll have a very blessed week.  Later.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

When a horse is racing, do all four of its hooves ever leave the ground at the same time? Horse lovers probably know the answer but many people did not know for sure until photography came along in the 19th century. If you don't know the answer, check out this photo I took at Churchill Downs while we were in Kentucky.

Greetings and salutations one and all.  Well we are back home after a couple of great days on Hilton Head Island.  A beautiful location.  Don, I would highly recommend to you as a photographer's paradise.  Sherron was attempting to take a photo of a surf fisherman as the sun was coming up.  Up walks what appeared to be a professional photographer and started taking pictures of her taking pictures.  Funny scene.  Wish I had had another camera.  The professional spent probably a couple of hours shooting the fisherman and his catches.  No I didn't just sit and watch, but was visible from our balcony overlooking the beach.  Sounds like everyone is having a GREAT summer enjoying the grandkids and traveling!  Me, I've got to get back to working on our house in Watkinsville and GET IT SOLD!  I came across this little tid bit that I would like to leave you with as food for thought.  Apply to any group you know?  Seems very timely.  Hope you all have a VERY blessed week.  Later.

It seems like so long since I have checked in! Don, that was a wonderful photo of the horses. Looks like a magazine cover.

Summer is busy at the Moore house. Lots of grass to mow, gardens to weed, bird feeders and hummingbirds to take care of, etc. Poor birds, how would the little guys survive without our help. HA! Our weather has been wonderful, and I can barely stand to be in the house.

Dick's mom was here all last week, but went back home yesterday. She is doing well, but there were several times we could tell that her 88 years are showing. Still, I was kept busy trying to go on little daily excursions with her. We are so glad she could

Making this short....just wanted to curtail rumors that I had dropped off the planet. I owe several emails to people, and I hope to get those done tomorrow. Our VBS is next week, and I have not even begun to gear up for that even though I am working.

Gary, I hope your house sells soon!!! Very soon!

Love to all.
