Beverly called today to let me know she heard Steve Eberhardt had been injured from a fall from a ladder.

I called David Landers tonight and got more info.    Steve was @ his in-laws house in South Carolina and was on a ladder pressure washing the house.   He did fall, and David said he fractured his C-7 vertebra.  He is still in the hospital, but hopes to be released soon and has been told to expect a 4-6 week recovery period.   David said Steve told him he was doing "ok except for the pain".

We will remember Steve in prayers and send great big   GET WELL SOON  wishes to him!!!

Steve, I've found that I sure don't bounce like I used to!  David has said he will update us with any news.

Greetings and salutations one and all.  I was checking the Athens area obits and read that Inez's mother passed away this week.  I dare say few can imagine the sense of loss that family has felt over the last year.  I know we all will keep them in our prayers.  Later.

Margie Lee Nation, 95, wife of the late Rev. Walter Nation, died July 8, 2012.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Verbie Patton Martin. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Inez Rogers. She was a home-maker and had attended Word of Life Congregational Holiness Church.

Greetings and salutations one and all.  Well another week has passed and .... I can't remember what I did!  I some how managed to stay very busy but would be hard pressed to tell you everything I did.  That prompted a thought this morning.  How much have you forgotten?  My girls will frequently say, "Remember when we ...... ?" and I have to admit, "No".  I know no one else out there is having that problem.  I hope you all had a very blessed week and will have an even more glorious week ahead.  Later.

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.
Finally she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?"
"Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago."
"Oh," she said.
"Grandpa, did God make me, too?"
"Yes, indeed, honey," he said.
"God made you just a little while ago."
Feeling their respective faces again, she observed,
"God's getting better at it, isn't He?"

Very thankful for getting rain last week!

My children, grandchildren and I met in Cherokee, N.C. for a couple of days recently.  We went to see"Unto These HIlls".   I saw it years ago, and I think it continues to be an amazing depiction of the Cherokee history.  Also toured an "Indian village"  and enjoyed walking around the little town.

I hope you are all doing well and having a good summer!  I hope we will be able to get together in the Fall and "catch up".   I'm sure  that those of you that have been able to retire are enjoying yourselves!

Greetings and salutations one and all and a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JESSE ALLEN!  May your day be filled with much joyous celebration surrounded by friends and family.  Well I've been busier than a one legged man at a butt kicking contest.  Yesterday our oldest started moving into their lake house and our middle daughter will be moving this weekend.  Imagine, in three months, every member of your family moving!  Next week we will start working on getting another house ready to rent and the fun just keeps coming. I do hope we can all slow down enough when it gets a little cooler to have a nice get together.  Hope you are all having a very blessed week.  Later.

Jesse Allen, here's wishing you a WONDERFUL birthday, and many, many more!!

I have been lax in writing. Just so much going on, and that's without a job. Sounds like it's the same with most of you. Gary, you are having

lots of "moving experiences" this summer. My goodness! Hope all will soon settle down for you, and rest can come.

Connie, so glad you could get to Cherokee with the grandchildren, and see "Unto These Hills". I'd love to know what they thought of it.

Teresa and Jim Colwell, congrats on that sweet new grand baby boy that was born last week!

We are OK up here. It's dry and hot, and has been a most unusual summer. Our son who, lives in Rockford, IL said it could go as high as 108 there today, which is unheard of. They are only about 20 miles from Wisconsin, so that's way north.

Better go. I am in the middle of a project that is driving me batty, and I need to get back.

Take care one and all!

Greetings and salutations one and all. Just wanted to be the first to wish Connie a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  May your day be filled with much joyous celebration!  I think I need to go back to work and get some rest - this retirement thing is killing me!  We have been helping our middle daughter move this week.  Now EVERYONE has moved and hopefully settled for a while.  Out of all of the moving, we will be acquiring another rental property.  Guess I know what I'll be doing next week.  I guess George Jones was right - I don't need no rocking chair!  I trust everyone is doing well and staying cool.  May you all have a very blessed rest of the week.  Later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CONNIE!  We all love you, and if I had a magic wand I would sprinkle you with joy that would last way past today. Here's hoping you don't need magic for that! You are much loved!!!  I hope the word is out to everybody you see today that this is Treat Connie Special Day!". Hugs from Dick and me.

Hello Mates,

Well here we are again sports fans! Less than a month til

the Dawgs take the field--- The Braves  are really right smack

in the middle of a full blooded race. And Dove and Bow season

is upon us. What's a guy to do?!

The Dawgs mean I need to make sure my blood pressure meds

are up todate. The Braves good play needs to keep going. They

are playing some of the best ball of several years. Them doves got

to put their steel jackets back on. I mean I know they wear them,

cause there is no way I miss that many times. And I have got to

check out my deerstand. I know there has got to be one huge

RED WASP nest on that thing. And I know right now I'm goin to need

all those naps waiting, calling my name. And I'm going to be right

there just as soon as I can. Now that's what the letters ASAP are

all about!

So--- got to go Mates the weekend is almost upon us. So have

a good one and be safe.

Happy Monday one and all!  I guess all our Braves' fans are happy this morning. Good weekend for USA Olympians as well.  I'm sitting here going over emails and wondering what to tackle first.  I received this email with one of those "warning" that I hate.  You know, pass it on or else.  Well, the content looked pretty good, but I'm not a "spammer" so I figured I'd post it here for your edification and enjoyment.  It appears to have originated from the Anthony Robbins organization.  Hope it brightens your day and life.  Everyone have a VERY BLESSED week and I'll catch you...... Later.

ONE:  Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO:  Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE:  Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR:  When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.

FIVE: When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.

SIX:  Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN:  Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT:  Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE:  Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN:  In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN: Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE:  Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN! . . .  When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'

FOURTEEN:  Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN:  Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN:  When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

SEVENTEEN:  Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN:  Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN:  When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY: Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

TWENTY- ONE:  Spend some time alone.

Greetings and salutations one and all and Happy Tuesday! Almost too tired to type but had to drop in and wish Don a Very Happy Birthday tomorrow.  I hope you have a wonderful day filled with much joyous celebrating.  Been working at preparing a house to be rented.  Painting and cleaning ... two of my least favorite activities.  Tomorrow I get to take the day off and go to Dahlonega with our seniors group.  These little outings are always fun and informative.  Last month we went to the Northeast Grorgia Historical museum in Gainesville. We have seen how creative Don is, so when I saw this original creation, I just had to post in in honor of his birthday.  Probably the most unique downspout I've ever seen.  I hope everyone is having a very blessed week, and again, have a Very Happy Birthday, Don.  Later.

Now that I have figured out the picture Gary posted and  have recovered,  I want to say.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DON!! I sincerely wish you a wonderful day. I hope you and Liz get to celebrate in a worthy way. God bless you both.

Also, I've been meaning to shout out to Steve Eberhardt and say how sorry we were to hear of his recent fall. Tough stuff, buddy, and we hope and pray you recover fully!

Gary, you are working so hard in your retirement, but all that bending and stretching with paint rollers is probably good for you. I hate to paint, too, so I understand. Hope you get it done soon, and that good renters will move in.

Our sweet friend Teresa Burt Colwell will be having serious back surgery at Emory on the 16th in hopes of correcting some issues that have worsened over the years as a result of the wreck she was in shortly after we graduated in '68. Her attitude is super. I know we will all keep her in our prayers.

Now, no more falls, sprains, or health troubles anyone! Let's get back in boogieing condition!  As soon as I get the mega splinter out of my foot that has been in there since Saturday, I am going to take up gymnastics. Watch for me in Rio in 2016!

Love to all,

Diane

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.   Americans deserve better."

A big THANK YOU to everyone that remembered me on my birthday!!   I appreciate the happy wishes.

Now my turn to send some "happy birthday wishes"!!!!!

Happy birthday Don!!!   Glad to hear you've had a good day AND that the Braves won in your honor tonight.

Jesse Allen - I sure hope you had a good day of celebration recently.   Sorry I am late sending wishes to you, but they are very sincere!

Pee Wee, I hope you have a wonderful birthday tomorrow!  We sure would like to hear from you!!

I certainly join others in sending prayers and "recover quickly" wishes for Teresa Burt Colwell!!

Gary, sounds like you may have to get a job so that you can get some rest!  I hope y'all are enjoying your new home.

Diane, you must share your "bathroom story" on this site.   Everyone needs a good laugh..smiley

I haven't heard any updates on Steve recently.  Hope he is healing well.

Jim, seasons will soon intersect and your life will be busy (and fun):  golf, Braves, Dawgs football and hunting!  You are down there near the lake - do you ever fish??

Love to you all...

Thank you, Gary, Diane, and Connie for the birthday greetings!  I had a great birthday and Liz really spoiled me.

And I send out a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PEE WEE!  I hope you have a great day!

My prayers go out to Teresa for a successful back surgery next week... and a complete and speedy recovery.

BTW, Gary... that quote from Komrade Obama is amazing!  Mr. Hypocrisy!

Well, I need to go check my gutters and downspouts, but first... nature calls!... :-)

Enjoy the rest of your week, mates.

GO BRAVES!

Happy Birthday, Pee Wee! Elizabeth is a beautiful and very grown up name, but in our hearts you will always have the endearing name of Pee Wee. I hope you have a great, great day, and that you are doing well.

We will be off tomorrow to go up to Rockford, IL to visit our baby boy, Greg, and Christy. They are being given a baby shower, and we wouldn't want to miss that.

Connie, bathroom story? Now you know that's gonna conjur up all kinds of ideas! Just a near miss with a urinal, folks, that's all. :D

Gotta go. So behind. Stopped to can salsa this morning, and made the biggest mess of my kitchen. Had someone walked in they would have thought a body exploded. Peelings, pulp, and juice everywhere, and I do mean everywhere! I felt like Lisa from the old "Green Acres" show, out of my element.

Have a good weekend, my friends.
