School Memories?

Going to Cambridge University on a football tour in around 68/69. Brasher was in charge. We played St. Catherine's & Selwyn colleges. We stayed in a Youth Hostel in Cambridge and one lad was smoking in bed during lights out causing total chaos. The touring party consisted of 5th & 6th year players. Paul O'Shea would probably have been the captain. We drove up in cars if I recall correctly. Think another teacher on this tour might of been Chapman who played for Westcombe Park RFC. Gave me good grounding for future rugby tours!

What has happened in your life since you left Sloane?

A lifetime in Marine Insurance.

Joined the Corporation of Lloyds in August 1970 as a Cargo Claims Adjuster to purse liability claims for Marine Underwriters against Ship Owners, Airlines, Road Hauliers and various bailees for reward.

Joined the long established Protection & Indemnity Insurer, British Marine Mutual in September 1985, representing Ship Owners to defend their interests regarding third party liability claims.

British Marine was bought by QBE in 2005 and in 2010, British Marine moved in to the Offices of QBE, at 30 Fenchurch Street, London EC3 .

I am responsible for protecting the interests of our clients based in Northern Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

Books: Fiction or non-fiction? Favourite books/authors?

Crime novels.

Humour: Who or what makes you laugh?

Most things make me laugh. Brought up on "Around the Horne", "Do not Adjust your Set" & "Monty Python".

Always amused that foreigners do not understand British irony.

Newspapers or Magazines: Which titles do you read regularly?

Daily Telegraph ; Sunday Times ; Ramblers Magazine

What are your pet hates?

The world as it is in 2023!!! Much prefer the good old days.

You can still find "Till Death us do Part" on the telly somewhere on Freeview and how things have now changed.

For rugby on the TV, it is now a tick-box all-inclusive presentation - normally a woman, a lesbian, a person of colour, possibly a trans-gender (bonus ball!), a gay man. We just want to watch the game - not be subjected to a "Question Time" mixed bag panel. It is the same for football. Gets more and more frustrating as you get older and this nonsense is creeping in to every aspect of your life.

Music: What music would you like played at your funeral? This should give everyone an idea of your musical taste and music/songs that mean a lot to you.

Blues, smooth jazz & ragga metal.
