Adventures Into Mexico Posted Monday, March 5, 2012 12:34 PM edited by Nicholas Dagen Bloom. While the following quote is taken slightly out of context, I thought it was interesting, "Philanthropy is an essential aspect of guilt compensation that some American make for their bargain, luxury lifestyle." What do you think?

I'm not sure most American philantropy comes from guilt. Rather, I think it comes from an historical thread of "noblesse oblige" , that with privilege comes responsibility, with roots in the Christian injunction to care for the poor. |
