Dave and I entered the MTC at the same time and were for several weeks the only Southwest Indian missionaries out of the 500 missionaries in Provo. Our paths crossed several times in the next two years as we worked our way out and across the Navaho Reservation. He was a friend. Someone whose enthusiasm and example makes me smile all these many years later. I hope that he's laughing at all of us worrying about the silly and transient things that occupy our time and about which we spend so much empty effort.

I cannot believe how much I remember. David was my friend, I loved him. He was kind to everyone and soft spoken but he sang like an angel.....I'm sure he still is. Love you David...bring on the music!

David worked real hard at what he set his mind to.  His heart didn't just fail; it exploded as if under tremendous pressure.  His brother, Scott, also died young of cancer, but his sister, Lori, is doing well as a special education teacher.

This is quite a trip down memory lane, remembering all these dear classmates of so long ago!  Dave was a dear friend of mine, we rode the same school bus, and he was my first date.  It was hilarious, as you can imagine.  He did not have a driver's license yet, but he didn't tell me that.  He had his grandparents drive, and they picked us up, dropped us off at Bratten's Seafood restaurant.  We ordered lobster, which I had never had, but Dave recommended, and I didn't know how to cut into it and eat it.  I don't think he did either!  So, after stabbing my lobster and trying to cut it, it slipped off the plate and shot towards Dave.  I froze in embarrassment, but he laughed out loud and said, "Let's get out of herer!"  I am sure that meal cost him a lot, but he was just so gracious.  I think the grandparents took us to a movie after that, but all I remember is that Dave was just so easy to be with.  I still miss his smile.
