Victor "V.J." Jones

                             August 14, 1945 ~ February 12, 2010

V.J. was born August 14, 1945, in Conway, SC a son of the late Freeland and Frances Vick Jones. His sisters, Sara Jo Hussey and Glennis Floyd, and his brothers, Russell Benton and Richard Jones pre-deceased him.

V.J. was a businessman who built a successful family business, Contract Carpets in Myrtle Beach. He was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and received his associate degree St. Leo College at the former Myrtle Beach Air Base. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, training union director and various leadership roles. V.J. was a member of the Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge #353 and former member of the Jaycees, Community Kitchen and leader of bible classes at Kingston Nursing Home. He enjoyed hunting fishing, golfing, coaching at the Myrtle Beach Recreation Department and most of all being involved in his grandchildren lives.

Survivors include: his wife, Joan Gunter Jones, his children, Gail J. Morris and her husband Dr. Anthony L. Morris, Kimberly J. Gore and her husband Darren P. Gore both of Myrtle Beach, SC and Victoria J. Shirley and her husband, Dr. Greg C. Shirley of Conway, SC; his mother-in-law, Harriet Gunter of Myrtle Beach, SC; his brother, Vicky Ray Jones (Suzanne) of Conway, SC; his sister, Jane Tyner (Jimmy) of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren Alex, Andrew and Jay Morris; Cole and Caroline Gore; Rebecca, Kaitlyn and James Shirley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February, 16th 2010, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Crawford and Rev. Larry Cashatt officiating. Burial will follow in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.
