Sharon,

I will try to post the picture in the In Memory section under Carol's article. I was a friend of Steve Myers at Silverado. He dressed way too well, and  he had cool guy hair. The last I heard, he went to New York and became a dancer in off-Broadway shows. But that was a long time ago..You are in VA ? How is that?

I hope you are well.

Bill

Steve Myers was a great friend from sixth grade through my senior year. He did dance with a dance troupe and was in New York for a while. I believe he is now in Savannah, GA where he taught school. I would love to talk to him so much.

Good stuff gang. I myself deserted Orchestra for band ha ha.

So I was out at Goat Rock beach, during the latest hot spell, and then drove inland to the Russian River area. I stopped for abit at Monte Rio Beach.  Brought back memories of the summer teen dances that were held in Rio Nido. Anybody else go to those river beaches or teen dances in that area?  The only reason I did was because my uncle had a cabin at Camp Meeker and we would go there for a few days each summer.

What Larry, another deserter!! Heaven forbid. I was never at any of those places you mentioned, but I do have a question.

My memory has decided to pack up and move elsewhere....much to my chagrin....so I cannot remember where we held our senior overnight party. Was it at Vichy Springs? Who remembers?

Thanks!

Bill Forsythe

Yes, Cissy, the all-night party was at Vichy Springs. As I recall, there might have been festive beverages on the grounds that night.

Larry, you sparked some neat memories. I actually played trumpet in a band at the Rio Nido dances a few times. Lots of girls.......

Larry, I remember going to the beaches on the Russian River.  I, especially remember Monte Rio.  We, my family, used to also camp at Camp Richardson and one summer I was invited to stay with a friend in their cabin off the Russian River.  Great summer vacation.

I don't remember an All-night party.  Where was I?  lol  We did have the Senior Picnic at Vichy's.

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

Both the Senior Picnic and the All Night Party were at Vichy Springs....

First of all, Hi Jane. I hope you are well.

Does anyone remember the dances at Oak Lake Park (or, Oak Park Lake... I never got that right!) and the old Mt. George resort dance hall ? They were pretty wild at times, but a lot of fun. Also, the JC dances were always a fun thing to do.

Bill

Bruce Erricson

Bill -- are you kidding?  Oak Lake was a home away from home.  I remember many days -- often by myself -- playing pinball on those old beat-up machines; swimming; messing around in the woodsy area.  Mt. George was where they gave square dance lessons, I believe.  Later on, people would go to dances there -- drive out there, bring their own booze, party party.  The only time I was brought in by the police was @ Mt. George.  ...many, many memories.

Ed Dalldorf -- are you there?  I saw your profile displayed.  Did you make it to the reunion?  If so, I'm sorry I missed you.  I have many memories of you & the gang in the neighborhood.

Jane -- gosh you're hard to get hold of.  Do you still have a bump on your head from when I used you for batting practice so many years ago?

06/21/14 08:59 PM #357

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

Sorry Bruce, I meant to respond to the note you slid under my office door...time got away from me...you know, some of us still work!  Bruce and Bill:  I am doing well...missed the reunion as was in St. Louis at the graduation of my oldest grand daughter (now headed to be a Kansas Jayhawk).  Oh yeah, I remember all the parties at Oak Park...didn't Greg Cochran's family run that?  Fun times.  Yes Bruce, that bump on my head is the reason for everything that has ever gone wrong in my life!  Just kidding.  Next time you are up visiting, my cell is 707-225-2301.  Would love to see you!  The picture is of my five grand daughters...all on St. Louis.

Hi Jane,

Boy, what a gorgeous group of girls.  Congratulations.  (Aren't there any X chromosomes in the family?)  I trust they're all St. Louis Cardinal fans, yes?

All is forgiven.  Thanks for the phone #.  I'll definitely give you a jingle next time I'm up Napa way...perhaps in the Fall.  If you're ever in this neck of the woods my home # is: (619) 697-8009.  Can't wait to catch up on the past half-century.

06/22/14 02:43 PM #359

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

Yes, very much Cardinal fans.  Both daughters married "boys" from big families...three boys, three girls each...can't account for the lack of X.  One son-in-law is a professional soccer player, now coaching and managing St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club, so we have become futbol fans.  Of course we still follow football too, suffering along with season tickets to watch the Cal Bears...My husband, a Dartmouth grad, never knew real college football before he became a Cal fan...We see the kids at least three times each year.  They grow very fast.  Can you believe those legs?  Those came from the other side of the families.

Am I mistaken or are all the girls taller than the former Ms. Dickel?  (except, perhaps, for the cutie on the far left.)

Are you back home yet?

Tomorrow I'm heading out to La Quinta to visit Pat Hartle.  She recently had hip surgery & is gradually getting back on her feet.  She, like I, was very sorry you couldn't make the reunion.

Keep in touch.

Bruce

Hey Fairy Princess! Sorry I missed you at the reunion, but you certainly had a better offer. Bruce, say hello to Pat Hartle for me...as I mentioned before, I go to La Quinta every month on business...and stay in the same community she's in I believe (Rancho La Quinta). Hope she on the mend successfully...DJ

06/23/14 01:42 PM #362

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

Yes Bruce, they are all taller except for the peanut on the left...all at least 5'6".  But they respect their "elders" even though I am getting shorter every year.  Please say hello to Pat for me.  I saw her father a few years ago at the Aldea Fund raising benefit in Napa.  He was quite a man for supporting non-profits in the community.  Dave, thanks for the sentiments.  I don't know if it was a better offer, but it was a higher priority.  I hated to deprive you of harassing the fairy princesses...I think Linda Huber was the only one there.

Does anyone know where Andora is ? B. Erricson and I  may want to retire there...

David Johnson

Fairy Princess: I met Bonnie K and Stevie who is living in Arkansas in a pretty lake and golf community...Linda H...and your buddies Didier and Reinhart...Didier won the prize for youngest arm candy....

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

Seriously?  Andorra is a small country in the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France...spent a week there once...very picturesque..

06/25/14 02:20 PM #367

Gerald (Jerry) Thomas

Not serious Jane. Bruce jokingly told me to try retiring in Andora, after he forwarded a tongue-in-cheek e-mail about bad places to retire ie, Az. too hot, Ca. too expensive, etc. I asked him if one could drive to Andora and he said maybe an amphibious vehicle would be required. Hadn't a clue as to where it was...Geography, another unlearned subject from high school. What a coincidence that you have been there !  And..I agree with Bruce...what great-looking grandchildren !!!

06/25/14 09:48 PM #368

Bruce Erricson

OK Jane, now what's this about sending your granddaughters to Andorra?

Or are you & Jerry Thomas retiring there together?

A WEEK in Andorra?  I spent a night in Luxembourg.  Does that count?

Jeez, I hit you harder than I thought.

Jerry, get an atlas.

And who's tongue-in-cheek?  Not mine.

Who's on first?

I'll try to wake Pat up & get in touch with you guys tomorrow.

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

Bruce and Jerry - I am doubled over with laughter at the famous Erricson humor, so familiar even after all these years.  And Bruce I spent a few days in Luxembourg also...followed Battle of the Bulge history from WWII through Bastogne, up to Clairvaux, then down to Luxembourg City where General Patton is buried...This week we are enjoying closer territory in Lake Tahoe.  This fall is a month exploring European cities:  Vienna, Prague, Munich, Rome, Florence, Venice and Cinque Terra...now Jerry, get out your atlas and follow that!  Jane

Jane Dickel (Jennison)

P.S.  I have to travel my bucket list before I forget where I am...that is your fault Bruce for the hit in the head!

06/26/14 07:09 AM #371

Gerald (Jerry) Thomas

Bruce...I would need a dictionary to learn how to spell Ando2r'sa not an atlas. And Jane. My main bucket list item is to retire, then I'll charge up my TomTom (atlas) and get busy...

BILL you are right about Rio Nido, never saw so many teens in one place. great place to meet kids from other counties.

Charlene: yes the Senior All Night party was at the Vichy Springs, I was there. I may have been the only sober one there. Does anyone remember that Sonny and Cher played at Vichy Springs for the class of 1965 all night party.?About a year before they became famous I guess.

Bruce wasn't Oak Park Pool cold as ice?

sorry about the slow response gang. I used to get notification when anyone posts to the blog now I just have to check in at random.
